True. The 55 is still a great tire, and you probably wouldn't notice how awesome the 60 is unless you rode the 55 first.

I don't know, I don't think there's gonna be that much of a difference between the Dunflops and the Pirellis this year when it's all said and done. And yes, I was once like Ryan, always trying to get the tire thing done as cheaply as possible... but then I realized it's just not worth it and put my big boy pants on and ponied up the cash.

Yeah, I was gonna say that, Craig. The 180/60 is definitely a bit more expensive (but worth it), and once you add tax on you're at about $400. Price went up this year. Last year I think it all came out to about $380 or so. But I guess when you consider that the UK Dunlop, which IS the comparable tire, is well over $500, it's not that bad. I guess.

Ha, maybe $320 or $340 for Craig. But for the rest of us this year, the Pirelli's will be almost $400. Crazy.

Like Drew said, the Pirelli front is just awesome. It has the softer carcass which gives great feedback and just sticks when it probably shouldn't. Also, the newer rear in 180/60 is sick and it just lets you pin it and get crazy drive out of corners. I've never used Dunlop, but the Bridgestones have a stiff construction as well and were just less confidence inspiring, and my bike just felt less planted on them. I will say though that when I switched from the Bridgestones to the Pirellis, the first few laps scared the shit out of me because the bike was moving around under hard braking way more than it used too. But it's very controlled and I got used to that very quickly. The Pirelli front will last a long ass time, and I usually end up changing it out well before the tread goes just because I feel like a race tire shouldn't be lasting this long, lol. I think it really is just about what feel you prefer.

Also, I should throw out for future consideration that I sent my forks off to Reuben at 35 Motorsports last season in like mid-July, and he had them back to me within a week or two working great and with some valuable setup information specific to my bike. Would use him again without a doubt.

I don't know, that shit wouldn't fly with me. Unless you shipped the forks to them knowing they wouldn't get to it for a month... then it's your own damn fault.

I hear what Brian's saying. But put an F1 car up against a MotoGP bike at Nelson Ledges and the F1 car smokes the bike, right? It's just that our stock 600cc sport bikes are way closer in performance to a Moto GP bike than a stock RX7, S2000, 350Z is to a F1 car.

So I appreciate when a business does a great job in a quick time frame, so I think Barnacle Bill deserves a review here. I shipped my new-to-me leathers off to Bill last Monday for alterations, after speaking with him by telephone the day before. Super nice guy and we ended up just bullshitting about whatever for a while. I bought a size 48/58 set of Alpinestars MX-1 leathers (thanks, Cox!) that fit great in the torso and shoulders, but had a little more room than I'd like in the legs and arms. I previously wore a 46/56 Astars Carver suit that was a little tight everywhere and the arms were a touch short. So Bill had me take some simple measurements and off they went. Bill called me on Wednesday just to confirm the measurements and exactly what we were doing to the suit. To my surprise, the suit showed up at my door today, exactly one week from the time I shipped them off! That's pretty awesome in my eyes, especially coming from a busy guy at the start of race season and considering I've heard a lot of horror stories about stuff like this taking a lot longer than that (from other random vendors of various parts and gear). Even better, this suit fits like a freakin glove! We ended up taking out 2 inches from the length of the thighs bringing up the knees to where they're supposed to sit, 1 inch of width from the thighs snugging them up, and about an inch and a quarter of width out of the arms. And all of this for a very reasonable price. I finally have a suit that is comfortable but snug everywhere that it should be. Fits like a full custom in my opinion. So if you're in need of alterations, repairs, or a custom suit, I wouldn't hesitate to contact Barnacle Bill.

And it was a high :56 too I think (saw an article on roadracingworld.com from 2007). I believe that record was broken by Robert Jensen in 2011 with a :56.8 something. Still freakin crazy though. And it's interesting to hear about the cars.
