This is how my day ended yesterday at Nelsons; 3PM session. Coming out of turn 13, back wheel spun and instinct was to let off gas (dumbass). Bucked back and forth couple times with me going kind of over the bars and off to the side. The bike landed on me and we slide for quite a ways until it came off. I stopped in the middle of the track, bike off to the side. Once i realized i was ok, i ran over, turned it off and jumped the wall.

The suit rubbed through and luckily the back protector belt pad took the rest of the rash. I got a nasty rug burn on my ear and neck from the helmet strap. I think the foot peg landed on my calf, very localized pain and hurts to walk on it. But other than that i'm fine. Things to be replaced: suit, helmet, windscreen, levers and rearset.

So glad you are okay... didn't see it happen but that was a nasty high side. Glad for good gear to wear. Hope the ear starts feeling better.

  2. Had a good time this weekend as well doing a track day and then helping out with the more technical end of the endurance race behind the computer with the timing and scoring. I have quite a bit to learn but it was fun learning and watching the times come in.

Isaac will be riding with a school that offers a very structured novice class for his first few track days. He is too green for an "open session" novice track day. This post sums up my reasoning. Thank you.

I spoke with Tim and he said the same thing about N2 cleaning up their act. I appreciate the heads up with regards to Lean. I will check them out, as well.

I believe Mike (from Mid-O) will be teaching Novice with Lean this year at Nelson when they are not running the Endurance Racing this year. Check the schedule at www.leantd.com. I have been under his teaching several times with Lean and he is quite good. Besides, it's a close track to home and it's pretty good to learn on with the new surface. I highly recommend Lean for a first track day for Isaac. Just my experience.  Sam is a pretty good guy and can answer any questions prior to going.

  4. My wife was a witness to this accident yesterday.  Shook her up pretty badly.  Wishing a speedy recovery to the rider involved as this was not his fault.  Don't know anything more except the driver turned left in front of him and didn't apparently see him.  Bike had 30 day day tags on it and was bought at State 8.  He was hurt pretty badly.  Wife was behind the car that turned in front of the motorcycle.  Get well soon.

There are plenty of practice days.  You are more than welcome to take my CRF around the track as much as you want on those days to try it out.  If you are looking to race, it would be like $70.00  (4 races) + bike rental fee.  And honestly, we have enough guys that may or not be able to make a race weekend occassionally that we can yank their bike for you to try it!

What cost is there for practice days?

If you don't have tickets yet, there's a discount code from Cycle Gear for 15% off general admission tickets - use the code CYCLE GEAR

The email doesn't say that there's an expiration date for that code.

Thanks Tracy.  Plan on being there both days and was wondering about discount ticket codes.

  7. Just burried my wife's uncle last week due to cancer and watching my uncle battle cancer now with no hope for a good outcome. The chemo is definitely taking a lot away at the same time. It's hard to watch it. Hard decisions for those making the choice to continue or run it's course.

Feeling for Doc and everyone that knew Jerry well. I met him one time and I know he was a great guy.

Yea it was around that price with Sam Wang/ LEAN Trackdays. N2 doesnt go to Nelsons, only LEAN right now from my knowledge.

Correct. Sam is an awesome guy and complete gentleman and very well respected.

For sure cheaper. Without a track day package from N2, Pitt Race is like $205 a day. Prices vary from $155 to $205ish a day. Cant speak for any other org other than N2.

I think it was $180 the other two previous dates.

How much does a day run, now that the new pavement is down?  I'm used to paying like $95/day, with a discount for booking both days...  Factor in inflation since store .  I think I only raced at Nelson after that, no track days.

I believe it is $170 for the pre-registration fee...(10 days prior to event) still cheaper than midohio and others.
