  1. Pilot 2ct. You can see in the picture what I'm talking about. Any kind of twisties lean on the bike you can feel it go from the flat surface to the still rounded part.

Is this a current picture of your tire? I ran 5600 on my OEM Dunlop Roadsmart 2's and my center was worn so much that there wasnt even any tread. If your getting 8000 out of one rear I dont see an issue other then you being easy on the tires.

  2. If you stay off the throttle for most of the first year, it can be done.

And I mean limit strictly to part throttle.

Just don't crack that throttle wide open till you've got some good basic experience.

And take the MSF motorcycle rider course. Do a walk in, since they are probably all booked for the Summer already. A couple of people usually don't show, and it's whoever showed up first to do a walk-in.

Any cheap bike is a good starter, it will fall, get beat up, and take abuse.

edit: There are compelling reasons to start on a 250cc, it's more forgiving of mistakes.

In many European countries, the new riders have to start on a 250cc for a year, by license.

What he said. It is your option to go with what you want, if you think you can control yourself then go for it. But once you get a taste, and you will want taste of speed, once you get a taste, youll want more, unless you shit yourself. Do what you want, but take the MSF course before you do any serious riding. Also dont bust your budget on your bike and not have the cash for decent gear. Get a decent helmet, do your homework. Leather is best above everything else so its up to you to decide what your willing to go with. ATGATT is what most ride by, dont be a squid and ride with tennis shoes, tshirt, shorts, and sunglasses. If your curious, just youtube "what is a squid"

  3. This. It seems a lot of people go out of their way just to NOT take any formal classes on motorcycle riding. Anybody that I've met from a forum or that has taken the MSF course seems to always have their head on the right way when it comes to riding.

    Congrats on the completion!

However even with the class it takes experience to overcome those SR's like target fixation. Yesterday's victim took the MSF lastyear and was still a victim of it.

  4. I ended up getting back home around 10pm. Was a good time. Gravel dodging sucks. The downed ride said he felt like he didn't have enough speed to go through the corner and fixated on the side of the road. I feel for him personally.

  5. I count 10 for sure 11 if TomCat shows up. Gonna be a good day. Im heading to bed early to get some solid sleep for this ride. I need to be home at a decent time as it is my oldest daughters birthday.

Also I got the exhaust, tires and my air filter installed this week. So Im golden.

  6. I gotta give it up the guys up here at the service dept at ohio cycle worx. They were the only place that would work me in at a short notice. They had 3 other bikes ahead of me and waited for me to get there and brought it back as soon as I got here

  7. Ill help however I can. I need to get used to the new bike first since I havent had a chance to ride it. I might try the route Sunday.

They are calling for some rain on Sunday, why not come down and ride with us on saturday?

  8. I am hoping that ill have the day off tomorrow due to an unfortunate turn of events with my work van having to make an unscheduled stop at the dealership due to loss of power. If the boss lets me take a vacation day tomorrow, ill be heading up to get my tires changed asap. After looking at my rear, I see no reason to make the trip down on a rear that literally has no tread in the middle and is so flat that it gives Dying a run for Itty Bitty Titty club winner of the month.

  9. Damn gunner I wanted to see ya for a whoolie haha

What? My fat ass getting the 650 up on a clutch up in 2nd? ya ill get right on that one. Closest Ive been able to is from a dead stop and pop it up. Even preloading the front and then torquing it up doesn't work. Just doesn't have enough torque to counter my weight. Unless im doing it wrong, which is very possible.

in the end, ill leave the whoolies to you
