  1. Can someone answer this Civil War question:  Why did non-slave owning southerners fight in the Civil War (Yes, a large majority of southerners in 1860 did *not* own slaves)?  What were they fighting for?  Also, those in favor of removing the monuments...you do realize that those confederate soldiers are to be, by law treated as US Veterans?  Just looking for a rational, no BS answer.  What was the average southerner's "call to battle" for?  Surely they weren't willing to die for the right of others to own slaves?  Men of color also fought.

I'm having a real hard time believing that the entirety of the Civil War was fought so some plantation douches could keep their help.  Learn me please.

    Moldex 6800 pura-fit

I got a sampler pack from the earplug superstore and I liked these the best.

So I picked up a case.

Should last me for a few years.

These are my favorite as well.  Use on the bike, when mowing or weedeating, shooting, etc.  Cheap and disposable.  I tried molded (do it yourself) and was not impressed.  Also, the reusable/molded types need to be cleaned often.  I bought a set of the Plugfones mentioned above.  I find them a little uncomfortable and they don't stay put.  Great concept though.  Maybe if they used the foam like Moldex uses they would be better?

What brand of Silencer did he go with?  I have a Sparrow & a Spectre II.  Both work very well for suppression.  Cleaning the Spectre is easier as it does not have a monolithic baffle.  Tell him not to let it get too far gone as far as buildup inside before cleaning.  I heat my baffles after cleaning and quench them in 100% silicone brake fluid.  It seems to help with the next cleaning.  They are a bit quieter with a little gunk in them.  Subsonic ammo out of a 4" barrel doesn't really offer advantage over standard rounds in my experience.  Standard rounds will usually not go supersonic in a short pistol barrel.

I shoot the SR22 a lot out of the rental case, but the stories of malfunctions after a few thousand rounds had me hesitant to buy one...

IDK how many thousands of rounds mine has been through.  It usually gets it's ass kicked at the range due to the fun factor.  It will eat anything with suppressor on.  Some stuff will make it hiccup without the added back pressure.  Mine has ran like a champ for the most part.  It was still going in below pic after plowing a channel up the feed ramp through the gunk.  This was after 400 or so rounds of lovely Winchester bulk.  I think I had some troubles with Federal blue box bulk not extracting without suppressor once, but again...suppressed it will eat anything.  Fun little pistols.

Edit:  I did have a little trouble with the mag catch getting gummed up and not grabbing the magazine.  Some cleaning remedied it.  Suppressors on .22lr is a dirty affair!

  5. What -  You will like the bar ends on your Street.  For me at least, they work better for vision than the stockers did.  They look nice also.

Those mirror less riders must be Italians?

    See OR gap trip

Rock n roll sub?  Details please.

Trying to to get the bubbys together to party at the fishin shack in Beverly.

Always looking for decent eats in that town. Although the seemingly weekly steak frys at the eagles/legion work out well.

Jukebox Pizza.  Just across the river in Waterford.  First left off the bridge.  Small pizza joint.  Rock n Roll Sub just their take on a footlong submarine.  I enjoy them.  Their Super Nachos are also pretty good.  It's just become one of those spots I love to stop and eat at when out riding.

  7. Well, to explain my antics...  This was in the fall of 2002.  I had just recently purchased a new 660 Grizzly.  The thing would actually do whoolies.  This is nothing nowadays, but back then you didn't see a big 4x4 CVT quad doing wheel stands.  There was a pack of Honda Foremans 'mirin as as was approaching so I decided to show my ass a bit to them and stand that beast up for about 20 yards.  It was a low speed affair.  I had been there several times before and many after without any inclination of squidding in the parking lot.  For some reason that day though...I guess I thought I'd be Mr cool.  Ended up being Mr fool instead.

  8. I only use the hose if bike is trashed.  Original Biker Spirits Polish and or S100 Spray Wax.  I use S100 Cleaner with the hose.  Biker's polish will cut most bugs/grime off, the S100 wax helps it to come off easier next time.  Lots of Honda Polish fans out there.

  9. There are occasionally plain clothes officers working Perry.  I got a surprise years ago from one.  Took and did a whoolie in the parking area.  Guy in a camo shirt and jeans walks up and pulls his neck chain out of his shirt revealing a badge...well fuck, said me.  Saw a Banshee being loaded into another officers pickup that day as well.  The uniformed officer was actually foot stalking on the trails for a bit.  Always enjoyed riding there.  Have they been able to fight off the coal mine or is that still an issue?

10 days no parts in the mail, emailed vendor. "Our notes say we're waiting on an address confirmation"   me: from who you didn't ask me.

Currently having a horrendous day at work with Vendors' so called "customer service".  Would be nice to be able to strangle people through the telephone...where's that technology at Apple??

I have Allstate for everything bundled (house, cars, motorcycle), its the cheapest we have found.  Still paying for my helicopter ride after my accident, it cost $27,000 and insurance didn't put a dent in it and most helicopter services are private, so there is no negotiating on the fees like you can with hospitals/doctors. What most don't realize is the medical coverage for yourself is minimal with all of the insurance providers, even at full coverage, it is designed to cover passengers and the other vehicle/passengers involved in the accident.  I found out that my insurance would only cover my medical expenses (the driver) up to $5,000 and that is it.  We asked if this could be raised and the most they offer is $10,000, so of course we raised it to the max as it only cost a few dollars extra a year for this option.  Just surprised as I have full coverage for all automobiles and the motorcycle and still ended up screwed after my accident.  I always thought the major medical you carry on your auto insurance covered everyone including the driver. :nono:

I have heard some horror stories about the chopper rides and what they cost in the past.  Insurance is around $200 year I think, but the flight costs will be fully covered.  I have also heard about the lack of medical for the Driver.  I have a supplement on my policy for my medical...can't remember details, but I'm paying a little more for it and getting much better coverage for myself.  I don't think many people realize that they are "assed out" on their own medical in event of a crash as far as insurance goes.  Most only focus on the policy cost, rather than the details of coverage when shopping.  I would rather be over-insured than under, any day.

State Farm has always been the cheapest for me.  I pay less than $400 total a year for 2 motorcycles...and I've had a "couple" speeding tickets.

State Farm here also.  Decent rates and a local agent I can go scream at if needed.

550 can seem "boring" especially from the Barlow to Sharpsburg section. It's similar to 78 but depending on the time of year, there will be lots of tractor traffic. May consider 676 as an alternative. Picks up outside of Marietta and goes all the way to 555 that you can either run into Barlow or into Chesterhill. This is mine and @JustinNck1 backyard. Our playground. If you need any scouting done, let us know. We'd be glad to do our part.

676 is a wonderfull road, paved with in the last two years. Some corners are tricky though need full focus on it. for eg there is one corner u go straight into a house lol unless u literally twist your neck to look through the corner

676 Much better than 550 to get back across.  I usually come home from Marietta on it but turn onto 339 so I can get me a Rock n Roll Sub in Beverly.  Thought I had video of it, but I guess not.  I may have to make a run down there for documentation/scientific purposes.

  14. Couple vids I took off my helmet cam.  Raw, no editing, terrible wind noise...but here they are:

Footage I have from the downed rider we came upon.  Shut off my camera (once I remembered I had it on) due to not knowing his status and respect for privacy, but you get the idea of what was going on.

We did stop at Meijer before we got on to 33 for gas.

The guy who went down was with another group. From the looks of it he target fixated and missed the turn. Bike still had 30day tags and was in had shape.

The guy got lucky, his helmet and gear saved him...he didn't know what happened. He was awake and knew his name, he could feel his toes and fingers. His left wrist looked broke. He was in bad shape, but calm and talking.

An off duty EMT stopped a few minutes after us and took over.

Brown went to a house to call 911 (no signal), and another rider rode up a hill to get service.

We did leave once the responders started showing up to get out of the way.

Snot did an awesome job!  She assisted the EMT who hopped out of a passing car.  She was right there with the man as soon as she was off her bike.

Will be testing them tomorrow.  I usually like foam plugs.  I bought the gray and green foam, but I can't fit them to my ear like I'm used to.  The silicone seems to work better for me on them.  These things are right up my alley as I either ride with plugs, or with earbuds.  They seem to block more noise than my Sony buds do.
