  1. Need mirrors and blinkers (if it was manufactured with them), a headlight with a hi and low beam and brake light/tail light and title and you should be able to street it.

im not sure if there is a title for it. ill have to ask my dad about that. Ive had this thing for almost 20 years lol But that would be awesome to do, try to find some groms to play with after I'm done with it.

  2. Has anyone here ever built a mini-trail bike to be street legal? I have a 1970's, still need to check the vin, that I would like to build into a street machine. Engine, front and rear suspension, bars, the whole deal. I'm wondering about parts, where to look for them and any how to information you might have. Pic is what is sitting in my shed right now. Cleaned up a little bit. post-17518-0-71066900-1439349689_thumb.j

  3. If price is the major factor, check out the fz09... But there's plenty of better naked bike options out there.. I'd take a used speed triple over a new fz09 without even having to think it over

I don't own a speed triple, but I have a cb1000r and that's the bike all the riding mags compare to mine... I love my bike, it's the perfect machine for daily duty and weekend fun... Not super comfortable but overall not bad, the upright riding position helps with fatigue... Not sure how the seat on the triple is though... The power is plenty for a naked, as you won't find yourself over 80-90 often anyways

Like I said, I haven't ridden a triple, but I've read countless reviews comparing them to my bike with a general consensus that the triple feels a little more snappy... I would have got one if I could get past the ugly headlight setup... But some people like that look

Call around to dealers and find someone with a demo bike or used bike you can test ride

i did find this one. http://www.cycletrader.com/dealers/Addams-Auto-Cycle-824490/listing/2006-Triumph-Speed-Triple-111520604

My only concern would be if the title is clean and not rebuilt/salvage. It does say repaired and re-inspect-able but the vehicles in PA require an inspection every so many years before they will allow you to buy tags for them. Once i get the cash, i hope that would be before the bike sells, ill call them up and inquire further about the bike.

  4. Hello everyone, Im looking to sell my 03 zx6r by the end of the year (not advertising just the point of the thread) and i was considering going picking up a newer speed triple. The big motivation behind this i miss my 02 SV650 on the way it handled the bumps and crappy roads in NEO. It was down on the power that i really wanted it to have. Any input from people that own or owned speed triples i would appreciate input.

  5. I'd love to go. But it would have to be something I plan a few weeks in advance.

ive been planning this for a few months now. i just knew there is a OR takes over the gap thread.

  6. So i know there are a bunch of you guys taking over the gap later in May, but i am going this weekend for the first time ever. Im camping out because I am a cheap ass and don't feel like paying for a hotel. Anyone else making it down this weekend?

  7. Yeah the stretch of road right after Gates Mills is pretty slippery. Almost low-sided last Sunday because of that junk.

Is your FZ1 silver? i think i saw you out that way on sunday. There were three bikes, a green ZRX1100, a silver 03 ZX6R, and a 06 600RR

  8. Thanks Obama.

(But really, the stimulus money from like 5 years ago is finally starting to be used on major road projects all over the state. A considerable amount of the construction really is Obama's "fault.")

The wait is worth it for the nice roads. But if they could hurry up on it, that would be great.

  9. Went out with my dad and brother into leroy and out to Willoughby hills/kirtland area. On the back roads down into some of the valleys and all that, the roads had a healthy dose of salt, even with all the rain. Not to mention how bad the pot-holes are getting. Looking like another wonderful construction season coming up.

  10. So i bought the ZX6r, the other deals fell through and i know i over paid but im happy with what i bought. Im already saving up incase the transmission isse does come up. It's much better than the SV in the performance area, but the comfort area sucks. Good thing ive been doing kick boxing and have decently strong legs and core so i don't kill my wrists.

  11. So, there were three bikes i was looking at. An 04 r6 with around 4k on the clock. That sold today. The guy with the CBR is just not getting back to me nor are they putting any effort to setting anything up. So i will probably be buying the ZX6R on Friday. Lets hope all goes well and i can score it for a decent price.  Thanks for the input on this thread guys, i appreciate it.

  12. Echoing Bad here. I am not knowledgeable about the intricacies of the Kawi, but $4000 is well high for an 03 CBr. In 05 they shed 15lb in weight and got the inverted forks. 07-08 was another major overhaul and is considered The best of the earlier gen cbr. Newer models still gain the big piston forks, electronic steering damper, better brakes, better midrange, etc, which all should drive down the price of first gens.

In any sport bike around the 10 year mark, regardless of milage and especially if it has sat, budget for oil (at least 1 flush)/brake fluid/coolant, fork oil/rebuild, tires, chain, maybe an air filter.

One issue particular to those years of cbr is the wiring connection to the headlights, both in the headlight switch and under the start button. Check this operation before buying as they may need re - soldered.

All this can add $500 of cost if you do it yourself, and God knows if you pay to have it serviced.

i am so glad i posted somethi

I would trust a used CBR over the ZX.

Also, Honda's hold their value much better.  If the CBR is less and same condition, I would jump on it

im trying to get the cbr, but i am having a scheduling conflict with the seller. The ZX is my next choice if i cant get the CBR.

  13. Depending on year and mileage of the 636 I'd say no more than 3500 either

the year 636 is an 03 with around 3000 original miles, the guy bought it for his wife new and she just never rode the things. Im pretty sure it has been sitting for a while so im going to beat him down on his price because of that and it has been dropped. I can knock it down there too. all that stuff about an oil change and the general maintenance that Bloodninja420 brought up as well. So a $3500 bike becomes a $4000 or more.

  14. I wouldn't even blink before picking the 636.

i was just looking at the 636 again, the slip on is a hack job, and it was dropped with a dinged lever and bar end plus a small crack in the body work. but the guy is asking $4500 for the 636 compared to $4000 for the cbr.

  15. so $3500 to me then, its what like 12 years old now?

yeah, thats about the only fault i can find with the bike from what the guy has told me, but i am going to be going over it looking for anything that i can use to beat him down on the price.

  16. The answer you will get about low mileage will be one of these 3: Woman, Kid(s), time

i think thats why, but if it works out for me then i am alright with that. Im just concerned with the whole transmission issue is kind of still putting me off.

  17. the odo was around 5k i think, but i am going to look at it again this week and really drill some questions about why the milage is so low and try to get more info on the bike before i buy anything. Are these issue just for the ZX6r? or can they be an issue on any bike?

  18. Never had any issues on mine but just make sure not to get a stunted one. Seems these days there are a shit ton of squids running around on 636s

The only thing I can remember being an issue to look for was 2nd gear would go on the trans

this one has way low miles and it belongs to a woman who just doesn't ride it. Im pretty sure it has never been used for stunts either.

  19. Today i parted with my SV650, so that means i can shop around for a another bike. going to be used of course. I was looking at the first gen of the ZX6R 636 considering cost of the bike + tax and insurance so i can still swing a trip to deals gap at the beginning of next month. Ive read on the forums from the people that own(ed) these bikes and they loved them with little issue from them. Does anyone on this forum know anything about them/ things to look out for on these specifically?

  20. I pulled the ugly bike out of the garage and rode to work this morning. It was about 28 degrees outside and I was very comfortable on my commute. If you're on the fence about heated gear... don't put it off a day longer. Just buy it. Save yourself the regret of not having done it sooner. This was my first experience and I was pretty amazed at the whole ordeal.

for me its just the amount of salt on the road. i dont feel like scrubbing my bike down in the cold after a ride. ive ridden in the cold ( about 35 or so) and i wish i had heated gear. but that was last year and im looking forward to a slightly newer machine this year if/when my bike sells.

  21. Started my bike for the first time this year after letting it sit in the driveway exposed to the sun for about 45 minutes. First shot it fired right up, good thing too. i didn't feel like pulling the carbs.  Then took it for a ride from the middle of my drive back into the garage. The roads got salted in my area again and i don't want all that crap on my bike. So how's your season starting off?
