  1. The heat coming off the engine is no big deal to me. I'm used to it. I was just watching my temp gauge climb as I'm going light to light on some 90 degree days. The gauge would go all the way up to one away from the top. The goal was to try and keep it running a bit cooler over all and to keep that gauge from climbing to the top when I'm sitting in traffic. If this will do the trick or make a big diff in when I'm sitting in raffic then maybe I'll try some when I change my coolant. I gotta say, thanks guys. I'm some what of newb. I just started riding again a few years ago after a 20+ years. This Z is my first water cooled bike. I appreciate your patience and knowledge.
  2. Thanks guys! Awsome video Crazy! I bookmarked it.
  3. Anyone using any? I was thinking about SenaSMH10.
  4. As long as I can do it without hurting my girl
  5. Yeah I could be over lubing it. The fling off isn't a big deal. I enjoy cleaning the bike actually. Just wanted to hear what some of you guys did. Thanks guys!
  6. Thanks guys! I might try some
  7. I could definitely use a sag adjust. I've never had it done and I weigh around 240. Haven't been on a scale in a while I doubt the factory settings cover someone at that weight
  8. I've used it in the cars before. It did make them run a bit cooler. Wondering if anyone ever tried it in a bike. Not havin any heat issues but that Z does heat up on hot days when I'm stopped in traffic.
  9. I'm just curious guys. I've tried everything on my chain and finally went back to what the owners manual says (clean with kerosene, lube with 90w gear oil) I've used spray lubes and spray wax special chain cleaners and the 3-sided brush. I seemed to get a lot of fling-off with both of those and I'll be honest its a pain to heat up the chain before lubing. It just makes me nervous to ride with a dry chain even for a few mins. A mechanic I know says the waxes suck. I haven't had any chains wear out on me pre-maturely I don't think. I had 19k on my Kat before I had to replace the chain and as far as I can tell my Z's chain is fine at 7500 miles. Just curious what you guys think and I'm bored.
  10. I am probably limited more than most of you but it will still be fun!!!
  11. I just ordered these bar ends from Motovation. www.motovationusa.com. I put some lower profile bar ends on the Z. Didn't look much different and caused a noticeable amount of vibration. Tried to go back to stock and the stock ends wouldn't snug up all the way. I'm hoping I didn't screw anything up. These motivation ends are 2oz. heavier than the stock ends. They are pretty pricey I know but any ends I found that are heavier than stock seem to be pricey. In case anyone is wondering, the stock ends on a 2011 zx-14 weigh 7oz. I couldn't find that info anywhere so I weighed them on a cheap $5 diet scale. From what I read Crazy, heavier ends are the first line of defense for vibration and probably the easiest. These Motovation ends are approximately the same length as the stock. Some heavier ends were longer. I didn't want a longer bar end than stock. I found one pair that was 13oz. but they were 2.5 inches long I think.
  12. Yeah that's pretty much how it was. When I did try and wind her out a bit, one of the guys looked at me and shook his head like I'm a kid misbehaving. Don't think I'm gonna have that problem with this group!!!!
  13. I can't wait for this ride!!! I've never ridden with a group of more than 4 or 5 and in those groups I'm usually the only sportbike.
  14. Not to hijack a thread but I didn't want to start a new thread. What do you guys think of Kevlar jeans? Do they make a difference?
  15. I have a PCV but I've heard a lot of talk about the Bazzazz. What do you guys think?
  16. I've heard some people swear by Neatsfoot Oil
  17. I ditched the stock exhaust on mine for a shorty pipe. It increased engine vibration a bit and was a lot louder. I didn't have any problems with the cops over it. Center stand is at least 10lbs I think. One thing I always to do was was to put a bandit 1200 motor in it. I've read that it bolts in almost straight up without much modification. Plastics would need to be modded to fit but it sounds like you aren't using those anyway. That Bandit motor would help you hp to weight ratio
  18. Welcome back! Sounds like we will have a nice group riding down from Akron for the Epic! We should meet up for some breakfast before we head down.

    Geneva on the Lake?

    Bikini bartenders?!?!! When we goin?
  20. I still like shifting too. They would have to have a built in mp3 player that would mimic the engine roar and be in sync with throttle position for me to be comfortable on it. Also, I think its a bit safer to have some noise coming down the road so people hear you coming. I think riding something that quiet makes it a bit more dangerous. It's interesting and cool to say the least but I like to feel and hear the engine, feel the gears shifting. They would make awesome drag bikes maybe!
  21. I just bought a Bell Revolver Evo. State 8 in Peninsula had it for $139. I haven't seen it anywhere for under $199. It's a modular! So far it feels pretty good. Feels sturdy and comfortable. The locking mechanisms are aluminum I believe, not plastic. All the parts move real nice. Everything closes nice and snug. I love the bell face shield set up. The shield just pops right off with the levers and goes back on real easy. Vents open and close nice. I'm liking Bell so far!

    Geneva on the Lake?

I agree Rob! There are plenty of ways to get up there from Akron or south using country roads. The one thing about gotl is that its hard to find parking. Bikes everywhere! If I remember right, you have to pay in most of the lots. It might be hard for a large group of us to park up there. Just an idea of mine though. I can't remember the route I take but I usually take w/e routes I can find to get me up to Geneva, east of all the wineries. Then I go west on 534 and crossing over 90 headin in to gotl. I usually take hwy back. It's not a bad ride at all coming from Akron. To be honest, I don't mind getting lost on a ride as long as the weather is nice. There was a little bar on the way up that is always packed with bikes and it sounds like they are really whoopin it up in there. Wish I could remember the name of it. The last time I was by it, there were people on the balcony howling at me to do a burnout at the stop sign. I thought about it but my rear tire was almost brand new. I haven't done a burnout on the Z yet. Another good ride might be the Sugar Creek area. Atwood Lake and Salt Fork would be some good rides as well I think.
  23. I wouldn't mind taking a ride out to the Airforce Base sometime.
