  1. That was a lot of laughs. Nice find.
  2. I had my ass beat with belts and wooden paddles when I was a kid. It was an omnipresent reminder to do what my parents asked of me. I may not agree with everything he did including taping it, but if it helps the kid walk the straight and narrow and grow up to be a productive member of society, so be it.
  3. I just can't imagine a situation like that. Way to keep your wits about you. Thanks for sharing and your service.
  4. That sucks. Hopefully not too much scoring in the cylinder walls. Bore it out and throw some CP pistons in it and you're good to go.
  5. Couldn't be more true. The thousands of wins posted don't seem to draw too much attention. Plus you have guys posting inflated dyno numbers and then embarrassing themselves. That Cobra was not making anywhere near 672RWHP with a 2.2 at 17PSI even with an E85 tune. A 585AWHP GTR is no joke. That's a low to mid 130's car. A certain someone just likes to stir up the Cobra guys.
  6. I think I saw you leaving tonight at Alum. I've only had the boat out twice this year counting tonight. I need to get out on the water more...
  7. Cash, prostitutes, entertainment in his multimillion-dollar homes and yacht, paid trips to high-end restaurants and nightclubs, jewelry, bounties for on-field play (including bounties for injuring opposing players), travel and, on one occasion, an abortion. Somehow ESPN will spin it that it's not as bad as the OSU players selling their own stuff...
  8. You handled it the right way. That's exactly what I would have done.
  9. I bought a car from a private seller in NJ and the title did not have to be notorized. I just took it to the BMV for the VIN inspection, then to the title agency and back to the BMV for plates and registration.
  10. This sums it up perfectly. That crazy piece of shit needs to rot in jail.
  11. I took my center console out there 7-8 years ago and was hitting what looked to be old tree stumps about 400 ft from shore. Luckily I was just idling along. The area didn't have markers either. I haven't been back since and don't plan on ever going again. If you do go use caution or plan on replacing the lower unit.
  12. The 1968 1/2 Cobra Jet is still my favorite but a 2012 would be fun to play with.
  13. Nice run. Probably a rear mounted STS turbo kit. I think they claim ~ 500rwhp at 5psi. Not nearly as nasty as a 500rwhp H/C/I car.
  14. I was facing the same decision about 5 months ago. I did a lot of research on the GTR at Nagtroc.org. The service costs on the car are much higher than one would anticipate for a Nissan. A lot guys were paying $1800-$2000 for the 18,000 mile service which is basically changing the trans. and diff. fluids. If you change it yourself you can buy the fluids for around $750.00. The transmission can be problematic even in the 2010-11 models but it seems like they have worked out a lot of the bugs. If you don't modify the car Nissan certainly seems willing to replace the entire transmission when problems do arise. If you decide to modify and they deny you warranty work be prepared to shell out some serious coin to repair/replace. I prefer the GTR over the Z06 even with all of it's quirks and higher service costs. The Z06 would probably be a more reliable and cheaper car to maintain but the uniqueness, awd, and rear seating drew me towards the GTR. I came very close to buying a grey 2010 in December but ultimately decided to go a different route. You can't go wrong with either car. Hope all is well.
  15. 117 is stout for a stock 5.0. Very impressive.
  16. Yes. The water jackets around the headers keeps the temps low inside the boat. There's not enough airflow back there to keep things cool enough if you run unjacketed headers. Theoretically you could run straight headers and cool them downstream to keep the transom cool but you would probably need to lose the rear sundeck/hatch to keep temps down.
  17. Yes. The holes at the bottom introduce water around the exhaust, (there is an inner pipe where the exhaust gasses travel without water) and it mixes with the exhaust gases where they meet at the top. Hope that makes sense. Here's an old thread on OSO. It might be a good place to get some info on a conversion. http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/general-q/188814-ls-vs-350mag-weight-savings.html
  18. If you have an Alpha drive the raw water pump is in the lower unit and it sends water to the water pump. You'll need to use marine specific exhaust manifolds. They are water jacketed and introduce water into the exhaust gases about halfway down the exhaust riser. Not sure about the cam.
  19. Gotcha. Sometimes you can find a deal on engines here. http://www.offshoreonly.com/classifieds/engines_and_transmissions_parts_or_complete-b13_0-en.html It's always fun to check out some power options.
  20. Just a suggestion but I would confirm what RPM you're running with the 19" prop before you go up in prop size. If you are turning 4800-5000 RPM you're probably right where you need to be with the prop size. As a rule of thumb you lose 200RPM for each inch increase in prop size. Unless you're increasing the power pretty dramatically to offset the loss in RPM the boat will probably lose top end and put a lot of additional load on the engine.
  21. I couldn't figure out who was who out there. I still have the the 03 but I don't drive it very often. The water was perfect yesterday. I saw 86.7 on GPS and it felt like it had a little left.
  22. That same Cobra got walked by a 03 bolt-on Cobra Vert. as well. Slow ass Cobra but funny vid.
  23. I got home late from work and there's too big a risk for severe weather. Next week... edit: I hope everyone made it off the lake ok. That was one wicked storm.
