  1. How was Joe's? I haven't been in there for a long time.

Great service. I went to Competition Accessories and they treated me terribly. I've never been treated that bad in my entire life. I have bought dirt bikes, 4 wheelers, all my gear from them. etc. and I tried to negotiate prices with them and they brought out the "manager" and he began to tell me how I must not have any common sense and that it's okay because this was probably my "first big purchase" so then I gave Joey a call and he treated me very well and got me out the door cheaper than I tried to negotiate with Competition Accessories.

That looks like a blast. How do you like your windscreen? I've been thinking about purchasing one. Does it make a difference?

Hey guys, I've been making custom leather gloves here as of late. I've only been selling to friends, but figured I'd put my skills out there for those of you who might be interested. If nothing else let me know what you think! Thanks

    1979 CB750 Limited Edition

What would you charge for a pair like the one listed?

  3. Hi all. The weather is looking good for Friday May the 1st around the Dayton area. I'll be riding from Dayton to Yellow Springs around morning to late afternoon. I might stop around Youngs Dairy. If anyone is interested let me know. I'm still in the break in period of the new bike so I won't be able to do anything too crazy.

  4. I'm sort of digging on the FJR09, or whatever it's called. Nice bike.

    Yours, too. :)

Agree Pauly....probably will be my next Motorcycle.

I compared the 2 bikes and If I did more touring the FJ would be hands down my top choice. The motor in these bikes is unreal. I've never experienced low end torque like this besides my CR480. When in "A" mode, it is impossible to keep the front end down.

  5. What kind of work did you put into the suspension?

I just had them adjust the stock to my weight and then added 10 lb buffer for gear and stuff. I haven't had any complaints at all. I could def see buying an ohlins or maybe a penske if I lived in the twistys or if I tracked my bike.

I think it's humorous, my wife would say cute, when at 1:09 you cackle like an evil genius as you do your first run through the gears.

    Congrats on the bike!

You know, don't you, that you're the reason that it's raining today - right?

    Chris

Haha I didn't even notice. Honestly it is the most fun I've ever had on a bike.

  6. Hi all. I just picked up my new 2015 Yamaha FZ-09. I've put about 35 miles on it so far and it is by far the best motorcycle I have ever ridden. Torque, Comfort, Handling (after suspension fix) are all amazing. It feels like a dirt bike flickability wise. I'll post more, just wanted to get it out there if anyone was thinking about the bike. I'll be more than happy to answer questions the best I can. I posted a youtube video of my first ride. sorry for the wind. I don't have my gopro set up in the right case yet.

  7. XBs are plenty reliable...until you start modifying engine internals.  Check badweatherbikers.com for lots of info on the subject.

If an exhaust an ECM reflash (several good optons) won't result in enough hp for you, I'd look at something like the Z1000 or Speed Triple instead.

    My $.02

Thanks for the advice. I've been looking at all the options. Only problem with the speed triple and z1000 is they are both out of my price range or what I've seen so far. I can get this 09 buell for my bike and $700 cash. I think that's a fairly good deal
  8. I've ridden a xb12 on several occasions and is actually what I learned to ride on. Those bitches get reallllly hot, I thought my VFR was bad but damn that one took the cake

I've read that too. I've read that the cooling fans on the 9 are more efficient since the 9 s don't get as hot as the 12s. Overall I've read the 9sx is the best overall performing bike. On the city streets it has great torque. On the curvy roads it has great suspension and the shorter crank allows you to corner better and not have to downshift as much as the 12. I guess it's the ego thing that makes me want the 12.

  9. I think you'll enjoy the torque enough that you won't need any big bore kit. I'll take vtwin torque over i4 scream any day

I agree. The i4s are great. I love the occasional 100mph blips but I can't afford a ticket and I know eventually that will come.

I'm trying to look at all of the performer parts for the 9 vs the 12 and see what's going to suit my needs best. I can get an 09 very nice looking xb9 for my bike plus cash. I might make that trade instead of trading for an even older xb12. There's enough parts for the xb9 that I can make roughly the same torque as the 12

  10. I prefer the 9.  The power of the 12 doesn't feel much different, the 9 actually revs up little quicker.  Also the 12 was prone to crankshaft bearing failures after 35k.  The 9 had no such issues.

I've read that the 12 got a lot hotter quicker and the cooling fans had to stay on longer. I think I'm probably going to go with the 9 and if the power is too little NHRS makes big bore kits and 3 stage CNC kits that are fairly cheap.

  11. I've had 3 Buells, including an XB9S & XB9SX.  I put 40k on a first year (2003) XB9S and only ever needed gas, oil, spark plugs, and tires.

I won't be nearly as fast in a straight line as your GSXR.  Speed is closer to an SV650.

XBs are reliable and simple to maintain.  Dealer support sucks, but that was true even when Buell was still around.  If you can read a manual and turn a wrench there is little reason to need a dealer.  Maintenance is simple DIY.

The best qualities of the XB9SX are the comfort and the handling.  Handling will feel a lot different than the GSXR, but once you get used to it they eat up tight twisty backroads.

btw, VERY few parts are interchangeable with Harleys.  Maybe the clutch ramp and some gaskets...not much else.

Awesome. My next question is should I take the xb12s over the xb9sx if possible?
  12. Alright everyone I need some advice. I have a bulged disc in my lower back and during the summer if I were to ride my gsxr for more than an hour my back would be screaming. I love super bikes and I love that I know that I can beat most bikes off the line on my 750. But I would rather have a ton of torque. My question is, should I trade my 05 gsxr 750 with 25k miles for an 09 buell xb9sx, I love v twins. I've always loved the looks of buells but most importantly I love the seat stance of the bike. I have ridden a friends KTM superduke and loved the "streetfighter" naked bike stance. My question is should I make the trade? the buell only has 13,000 miles on it. Is in perfect cosmetic condition and from the paperwork and sound, the bike is mechanically sound. I need some advice on what I should do. I know my suzuki is going to have higher resell value since buells aren't made anymore and it's hard to find parts but the parts are pretty interchangeable with harleys. I would really appreciate some advice either for or against this move.

  13. Awesome! Looks to be in great shape.

Sweet road sofa...the 1200 was the last wing that was even remotely easy to work on.

Thanks. It's in decent shape for 30 years old. and it seems somewhat easy to work on but just to remove the stator I have to pull the engine and I've read that's one of the models worst breakdowns

  14. To start the fall off right I decided to get a little bit more comfortable and warm and I bought an '84 Aspencade 1200. I think I may be the youngest Goldwing owner but oh well. It's a rolling recliner with a radio. So far I've logged almost 1000 miles in 2 weeks and didn't even have to shift my weight in the seat. I enjoy my GSXR but this is a completely different experience

  15. I think it may be about time that I sell my beloved Z1000 :(

After my third knee surgery, the last being in late April, I've had issues sitting for moderate periods of time with my leg bent at acute angles without having a fair amount of pain that creeps in. The greater the bend, the quicker it begins to hurt. Surgery was done to repair some cartilage and it prior to the surgery, I was having severe pain so surgery did help. It just wasn't a cure.

I've been commuting the last month or so on my Z (~35-40 min ride) and about halfway through, I get serious a knee ache. I'm going to give it a little more time to see if it improves (it has, a little) but I have quite a bit of arthritis in my knee thanks to age and numerous injuries and that's not going away. It has bothered me for years but now it's worse to the point that it makes me not want to ride the Z at all.

I had planned on getting something more comfortable anyway (i.e. maybe a Super Tenere) but I was going to keep the Z for those times when I wanted something sportier. Now, I'm not so sure.

Maybe I should've titled the thread, 'what a drag it is getting old'.

How much would you consider selling the bike for if you don't mind me asking?
