  1. The car is proof that the world just got much better at making cars. If you compare it to something like the old L023 Factory Hemi Darts or the superstock barracudas - those things had bare bones van seats on wobbly drilled fixed seat brackets. No back seat. You didn't even get window cranks and regulators - there was a seatbelt that you used to pull the window up and down. No sound deadening, no options, no comfort. You, a wheel, and a shifter sitting in a 10.5 second tin can that was barely street legal and came with no warranty. http://rods-classics.com/sites/default/files/107/interior2.jpg yeah that seatbelt hanging over the door? that's how you put the window up. Now we have a 9 second beast, fully street legal, with power windows and seats, airbags, air conditioning, and a stereo/infotainment system better than half the market has now. I am kind of curious what this platform is capable of once someone treats it like a proper drag car: Roll cage, gut the doors, fiberglass bucket, lexan windows, etc... I am surprised nobody has tried to retrofit the new demon drivetrain into one of the older super stock drag pak chassis. I think people had the weight on those down to 3098lbs (they were about 3500 as delivered).
  2. It's still open, they renovated it and made it nice and now show first run movies at first run movie prices. They do occasionally still do second run movies or extended run at reduced prices (I think black panther is their current extended run movie at an $8 ticket) but it ain't like it used to be. The new seats are nice though.
  3. I think by law, as a real estate agent you need to either have a FWD Cadillac in burgundy or creme white or a jaguar XJ in those same colors (double points if it is burgundy with a creme interior). Oh and it must smell like Pall Malls and hairspray.
  4. I think VW thought that combo would steal share from the 2.0T quattro A4, which is on the derivative B6 platform (Audi is B6, VW is A6) which was around the same price point for a well optioned CC new. Lots of people swap them. If you can find a wrecked 4 motion Passat, 4motion CC, or Tiguan the entire rear subframe and final drive swaps over including the fuel tanks, and you just have to find the correct transfer case for your transmission. Does he though? His "clients" are mostly people who rent his property. I don't know about you but I'd be pretty unsympathetic if my landlord shuttled me look at houses and apartments in a luxury car. I think clean, nice smelling, kinda new-ish are about all you need.
  5. The CC is an amazing car. The 2.0T models got the DSG/DCT, but the VR6 ones got a slushbox auto only in the US. I think AWD was only available with the vr6. 2.0T models can be had in a stick though. I think they have the best seats/interiors of any VW short of a phaeton. R-Line is usually a body and interior option. It sounds "sporty" but there isn't any actual sport in it. The exceptions are the Beetle R line which gets the GLI/GTI 2.0T engine and the Tiguan which gets stiffer shocks and springs. This is not to be confused with "R" models like the R32 or the Golf R which are actual high performance cars. The R line in the Passat is a set of bumpers, 19" wheels, extra lighting, and leather wrapped steering wheel, shift knob, and brake handle.
  6. The Auto Assets one in Powell is red. Byers one is black but has twice the miles and is one year older (and $4K cheaper). That's fair, the nice part it that in the GLI you get the VAG DSG/DCT instead of a torque converter auto, unlike the 1.4T and 1.8T lesser trim jettas. I'm serious though - go drive it before you make any decisions. I think you'll like it but you never know.
  7. That's still pretty cool. I love seeing what people oversees do to go drag racing.
  8. just what Columbus needs on its roads - more inattentive Tesla autopilot zombies. Can you get Ludicrous mode in the model 3? or are people just getting excited about an expensive electric camry?
  9. yeah, but the one at byers is stick and local and you can test drive it.
  10. I saw it at Grove City with a friend. We saw it in Imax but not 3d and it was perfect. Tickets weren't that expensive and it was reserve seating so I didn't have to worry about finding seats together in a fully sold out theater. I know "Why" he did it, and to be honest it's predictable for his character. I like Peter Quill more than any other character in the Marvel Cinematic universe, I guess I am just disappointed that the writers used him as the foil to put himself over the greater good and fuck it up for everyone even if it was completely understandable and not out of character for him to do that. I am also kind of tongue in cheek saying "Fuck Star lord". There are people out there accusing him of being the secret villian of the film and that's just crazytown. Turbs3000 is right though, Dr. Strange saw how this plays out and didn't stop Star Lord from being an emotional trainwreck in the moment so it must have needed to happen that way in order to get to the 1 winning scenario. I try not to think too much about Dr. Strange knowing the future and saying "this is the only way" because it completely removes any stakes from future conflict - which if you spend too much time thinking about it ruins part 2.
  11. The problem with the lower end Jetta's is that they are built to a price point. The GLI is the performance model and the flagship of the line, They really put the effort into making it a nice car. I've driven both and I would take a used GLI all day every day over a new one of any of the other models. First off, the 1.8T in the SEL isn't the old 1.8T of yesteryear. It makes 170hp which makes it bog slow. The GLI makes 210hp and 260ft/lbs, and a tune and intake pushes it to 220-230hp and almost 300 ft/lbs really easy. My wife's A3 right now makes about 230 with the mods she has and it scoots - it's not gonna blow anybody's hair back like an S4 with a tune, but it is always fun and interesting to drive. Because of dieselgate VW is offering a ton of incentives, including on pre-owned inventory. VW has it's own CPO search site that's pretty good if you haven't used it. It's harder to find on their site than the new car search so here is the link: https://www.vwcpo.com CPO has 1.99% financing which is no .09% but it ain't 4% either. Byers has this 2014 GLI stick model with 50K miles for $16K: https://www.vwcpo.com/vehicle/3VW5T7AJ2EM209111-2014-Volkswagen-Jetta-GLI/ if you feel like driving to cincy, here is a gray one with 20k miles for $20K: https://www.vwcpo.com/vehicle/3VW5T7AJ7FM337264-2015-Volkswagen-Jetta-2-0T-GLI-SEL/ To be honest, If you don't want something fast, Take a look at the Golf Alltrak. It's basically a jetta wagon, but the interiors are far better than anything you find in a Jetta sedan. Also, I saw a lot of '17 left overs on lots and have heard of people getting $10K off on some models. It comes in stick too and is way more useful than a sedan. so here is the weirdo one that ticks none of your boxes and is a little Fey: https://www.vwcpo.com/vehicle/3VW6L7AT6EM818482-2014-Volkswagen-Beetle-2-0-TDI/ It's a diesel, it's stick, it's a convertible. High fun, not boring, and 40+mpg if you can get someone to flash it back to the pre-dieselgate tune. It's gayer than Richard Simmons blowing Rip Taylor but it is the maximum mpg ride.
  12. https://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/cto/d/2015-volkswagen-golf-gti-se/6577513617.html 2014-2016 GTI should be under $20k. see above one with leather, DCT, and 22k miles https://akroncanton.craigslist.org/cto/d/2007-nissan-frontier-crew-cab/6576043196.html And here is a 115k mile frontier pickup in your range of $5-10k. The best part is that even though it’s a 11 year old truck, the designe hasn’t changed and it looks newer than it is. If you change your mind about the slush box, you should be able to find manual variants of both in the same range. If you think the GTi is too small here is a GLI Jetta for the same money with a stick and leather: https://columbus.craigslist.org/ctd/d/2015-volkswagen-jetta-gli-one/6573351664.html
  13. Frontier pickup. MK6 or newer GTI with optional interior. /end thread.
  14. ***Spoilers**** I meant the makeshift team on titan. Way to ruin it for everyone Star Lord - just because they didn't give you a job to do, doesn't mean you get to fuck it up for errybody
  15. To be fair.....Fuck Star-Lord. Fuck him right in his selfish, non-team playing, anger management issues ass.
  16. probably going to take the ducati out since I just filled the tank on Saturday. Gotta burn up those liquefied dinosaurs before they spoil.
  17. factory weight is about 4200lbs, I wonder if there are extra weight savings people are doing to these cars as well or are they just running them out of the box? That's a very fast brick. We live in the best of times.
  18. I saw it Friday. It's a marvel movie so there isn't any real blood/gore at all. I thought about taking my wife/kid to see it when I go a second time...but... ******Spoilers Ahead****** Although not "graphic", the ending is a little horrific for a 6 year old because of some heartbreaking moments. At the theater I saw it at there were some young kids with parents and one or two of them were crying because of the ending (esp Spiderman). Most weren't, but I have to admit it tugged on my heartstrings a little. *****end spoilers***** If your kids are emotionally emphatic, I would hold off till part 2 comes out and let them see both at the same time. Otherwise, it's fine.
  19. Eh...it depends on the car. You can build any 1960's F-body, mustang, GM A-body, Mopar E body out of a catalog and a set of vin tags. Seriously, you can even get entire body and chassis new. Lots of 1960's american cars have huge aftermarkets and knowledge bases including cadillacs. I just mentioned a cadillac because the interest on them seems to be low right now and you can get really nice clean examples for not a lot of money. Like really clean coupes under $10K and verts, for under $15K, for cars where you maybe have to fix the cigarette lighter and do some light cleaning and buffing. They draw tons of attention, accommodate big guys, ride like a living room on wheels, and have torque for days so you can do peg leg block long rolling burnouts without breaking a sweat. Also the engine bay is so big and everything so overbuilt that absent rust nothing is hard to get to or in a tight place. Where you are with the Supra, is where a lot of us middle agers were with cars from the late 60's and 70's. With my GTO I bought the 1 orphan year where there didn't make a lot of stuff for the car so I never finished the cosmetic part of my restoration, now however, they make everything and my only excuse is the car is 400 miles away. But I get it, you aren't into old cars. Don't get a C10, I don't think you would have the patience for dealing with it, even though you could almost build one out of a catalog.
  20. If you can live on $2500 a month ($30K a year) you can quit now. Just know that you won't grow anything for a long while and to do so you'll need another source of income. If you are miserable, why not change companies? Not every environment is the same, you might find another work environment that is much better than what is going on now. Maybe something with flex hours, or more vacation time for less pay. Health Insurance is going to be a big hurdle for you. It's almost worth it to stay just for that alone if you have a good package. I would not go be a real estate agent. Not residential anyway. The current market is entirely too saturated with people, there is too little inventory, and it's very competitive. Maybe look at commercial, I don't think the market is in as bad a shape. Plenty of shops here in town have need of a commercial broker. Maybe look at becoming a Real Estate Appraiser.
  21. Props for excellent use of Terry Bernadino none the less.
  22. I don't agree with this statement. Fashion is not limited to clothing, although clothing is a huge part of fashion. Fashion as a broader construct and a subset of art has to do with trends that impact aesthetic representations. Emjoi's fall well under that, a representation of a person as part of their lifestyle. It fits squarely with Apple's business model: if you can't beat them on tech, beat them on style. But if you want to make it solely about communication, then as a purveyor of a communication medium apple's responsibility is to make their medium the most accessible to everyone. Given the nature of the gun debate in this country at the moment - logically this seems like the best compromise between leaving it alone and deleting it all together. That's reaching at best. Well, we aren't Bill Clinton. I wonder if Bill Clinton finds those cigar jokes funny? I think they are (or were, they are old now) hilarious, I thought Michelle's set was hilarious, but her set wasn't about me. The people complaining are the people at whom the jokes were directed.
  23. I am pretty sure the entire font industry would disagree with your idea that fashion and communication cannot co-exist. Actually, they are claiming that she attacked SHS's appearance. Nowhere was fat mentioned. I watched the set - she made three jokes about SHS's total - one marginally touched her appearance (using the ashes of facts she burns to give her the perfect smokey eye). It's dumb. At the heart of it though is something nefarious. A roast only works because the jokes, as mean as they are, take a character flaw to an extreme to the point of being funny. The problem with this administration is they are already in real life doing extreme things that would be comical were they themselves not so scary. So why this roast felt different - because the jokes were believable. I can't fault Michelle Wolf for that, she hit squarely on the overally lunacy that is this administration and instead of being a joke of extreme it becomes a metaphor. In other words: it's not funny because it's kinda sorta true. I totally believe SHS's perfect smokey eye makeup i made up of the facts she burns to ash in order replace them with lies - as a metaphor. And I will say, she does nail that smokey eye look.
  24. Plenty of normal people use men for men, women for women, and persons for a group of mixed gender or a role that is available to both. That's all that is ever expected out of the feared and hated "political correctness". It's also just basic good grammar. For example political correctness when used properly doesn't require you to rename Firemen to Firepersons when referring to a group because of colloquial practice, but it does promote firefighters over firemen when referring to a group of mixed gender firefighters because according to the rules of grammar the gender neutral noun is the proper noun for that situation. If used properly it should be indistinguishable from just basic English spoken well. Where "political correctness" gets its reputation is from people misusing it, sometimes with good intentions, to an extreme. But you know what? extremism is usually always funny. It's also not the norm, hence why it is called an "extreme" position - because it is a deviation from the mainstream. But let's get some things clear - the mission of political correctness in the 1990's was to call attention to how many things had an obvious sexist/racist bent that were just being ignored because of tradition. It did a pretty good job in doing this but also created a backlash of traditionalists who felt their own emotions were more important than anyone else's, and they weren't going to change no way no how. The funny thing is "political correctness" has had an actual benefit to society. For example people don't really use racial slurs for common things as much as they used to (see "ni**er-rigged or to Jew someone in negotiation as examples) and if they do they kind of recognize they are doing something they probably shouldn't, whereas before they were enabled because people just put up with their dumb asses. The only people I ever hear talking about political correctness as a negative are the people who are afraid of being judged by others for using inappropriate language that they know better about. Most of America really doesn't care - political correctness has no real penalty other than making the people who have to listen to or read what you say think you are an asshole. And most of it can be corrected by an apology and moving on. And honestly, if you are that worried about the opinions of others, then really just don't be an asshole. And use good grammar.
