  1. Do you want to part with your spare set of rims separately?
  2. Is it amazing though? In most big companies I have worked with or for the employees call their CoL raises the 2% drip and it's pretty much a well known thing that if they want a raise they have to come with an offer from somewhere else in the amount of the raise. It's only when you get into mom and pop operations and small businesses that it seems to be an unknown thing. They should just rename "trickle down" economics to "Piss on the working man" economics - at least then it would be honest.
  3. They are torqued to something like 30 ft/lbs so it's gonna take some effort. The Triple Square head by design is meant to be used in high fastener torque applications. From what I remember about my wife's audi they have locktite on them too.
  4. so are you going sat or not?
  5. he means one of these: http://www.farmofminds.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/RX8-race.jpg for when you stop fighting the RX8's true nature as agricultural equipment and allow it to plow the infield. LOL. Seriously though, drag your ass to the UFO auto-x and run the car already. I mean you bought pink coil overs to use them so use them already.
  6. Thanks for posting this gerg. Anybody heading down to the UFO event on sat? I'm thinking of going.
  7. Metalcrafters did a 2 door charger a couple years back: There are a lot of pics on the internet but I'm nerd blocked at work. Do a search. It was at SEMA in 2014. I feel like the hemi challengers are getting there too. Starting to see 2009 R/T Chally's (the first year of the R/T, all the 2008s were SRT8s) right around $10K, and next year once they age out of reasonably mainstream used car financing the prices will really drop. Would rather have a stick LX platform and the chally is it.
  8. So post up the schedule. Heck, I'd settle for the Auto-X event schedule too.
  9. yeah they don't do the chubby challenger any favors. Then again the original superbird wasn't exactly "pretty" either (but at least it was functional). Ever see the Danko Charger retro body kits? http://i.imgur.com/2nm2m9r.jpg They are weird but somehow they kinda...sorta...work...I guess. http://www.dankoreproductions.com/store/dodge-charger Better than the Retrobuilt mustangs which just look like cartoons to me. https://retrobuilt.com/ http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forums/attachments/2005-2010-mustang-talk/74954d1248496901-new-retrobuilt-1969-shelby-gt500-mustang-week-2009-69leftfront.jpg I actually do like this one though: http://silodrome.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/06-retrobuilt-1969-mustang-fastback-fd.jpg
  10. You wanna know what cars actually get imported from China? Buick Envision Cadillac CT6 Ford Focus (starting 2019) Volvo S60 None of these are Chinese based companies, and the Focus is replacing an American Factory. Why is the Tariff so low? The US based auto manufacturers lobbied for them. It allows them to penetrate the Chinese market and get around that 25% tariff and subsidize that penetration by selling the same product here. So in a way it's helping US companies to bring foreign money back to the US. And it's working since Buick is one of the top selling car brands in china. They aren't getting into the Chinese market without building the cars there, so those jobs aren't coming back to the US whether we like it or not, but at least this way the government makes a little money that it can use to...i dunno...rebuild infrastructure or something. The Chinese auto manufacturers have lots of interest but no ability to sell cars here yet. Their product just isn't up to the same standards as US consumers expect and won't be for several more years.
  11. Since this is a "car forum" I think this is particularly relevant, The Newest tweet from the Commander in Chief: So, can anybody name the Car that is imported from China that he is referencing? Seriously, who is this for? Who is dumb enough to believe that there is a car from china being sold in the US in large volumes that nobody has heard of?
  12. Yeah because fuck the environment and fuck the American worker. Business should be able to poision our waters because business, and if Johnny loses a hand OTJ because his job was so far negligent in maintaining their machines that he has action outiside workers comp - fuck him too because business. :dumb: Last I checked 1) unemployment is temporary - you don't collect it for life, and 2) social programs like welfare don't pay enough for someone to survive and the majority of people on public assistance have jobs but are underpaid. What's the social program that pays enough to live on and I don't have to work? because I want some of that...oh wait it doesn't fucking exist except in your own mind. This is literally gibberish. who in the US has been attempting to keep what assets they had in country? Not US businesses because last I checked even GM was building factories outside the US as a cost saving measure (see their venture in China). The Only jobs it is bringing back from overseas are IT Jobs, because it just can't get the quality it needs. Fun fact both the Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tacoma are assembled in the US and use more US sourced parts than any trucks from the big three. I don't think you meant foreign companies are "the US" for the purposes of this conversation - and the big US companies are expanding overseas operations...so let's leave that there. Did you mean American consumers? Because "buy American" makes a handy slogan but it just ain't happening in the marketplace. http://money.cnn.com/2017/03/13/news/economy/donald-trump-buy-american/index.html . So "the US" isn't the American marketplace or it's consumers. Oh did you mean Obama? Because his administration actually helped create new mfg jobs after the previous administration handed over a huge loss of mfg jobs in 2009. So yeah, the previous president worked hard at growing mfg jobs during his tenure. Something tells me that isn't "the US" you are talking about - the former "liberal" government. So who is "The US" you say is attempting to keep assets in the country? Inquiring minds would like to know....

  14. Are the Ford auto transmissions built like GM transmissions? On my TH400 in the GTO I have an adjustable shift modulator that I can just turn a screw on and adjust the shift points. The car also came with a factory ratcheting shifter (Called the dual gate) that when I used to drive the car regularly I used often to shift myself. Just getting a swap meet used B&M hydro stick would probably increase your driving enjoyment a lot. Old muscle cars are rarely cars you just want to put it in D and drive on the street - you gotta work a little for your speed. What trans do you have? A stock C4 with fresh fluid and filters should be able to take between 350-400hp depending on how worn out it is and whether you are launching it at the track on slicks every weekend or just going deep in the pedal pulling away from a light. If your car was a v8 factory car your rear should be a 9" too so even without a track-lok and decent gears it will still be pretty stout and take a pretty good shock load. Even with the 8" rear that the 6cyl and lo-po v-8s came with should be good for around 350hp and 350 ft/lbs of torque, and there are rebuild kits for it that will push that number much higher. Honestly, C4's are so cheap and unwanted that you could eat them like potato chips and still not equal the cost of a "built" c6 or Aod. The problem with drums isn't stopping power - it's repeated stopping power once it's hot. They fade over time. If they haven't been beat on they should be able to lock the tires no problem. The down side is that they take some work to adjust to balance them but once dialed in it eliminates that "left...right...stop" feeling of old cars where the brakes are pulling it all different directions. Also, you probably get like 3-5 panic stops out of the drums before you'll start to notice the fade to the point where it's time to service the shoes. Been reading articles recently about guys putting 8.8 fox mustang rears into classic mustangs. It requires welding leaf spring perches to the housing but the width is within a fraction of an inch of the 9" in your car stock, and if you source it right you can get LSD, rear discs, and decent ratio (I would go 3.55) for less than the cost of upgrades to your stock rear end. Stock your axle ratio is likely to be 2.79 or 3.00 (those were the most popular ratios, but 2.50 was also available) which isn't gonna peel the skin off rancid milk when you dig into it. Also, it's estimated only about 5% of 60's mustangs were ordered with some from of LSD so it's probably an open diff which just doesn't help at all. FWIW, going to 3.55 gears (with an Auburn Posi) in my GTO from 3.08 was probably the best improvement to driving enjoyment I made to the car. Because I drove it on the highway regularly and didn't want to swap to a 200-R4 OD trans 3.55 was about my limit for gears, but off the line the car woke up and laid two sets of tracks any time I got on it.
  15. oh, yikes. Best of luck then.
  16. oooh....clay, can detail the outline of the chevy emblem with some red one shot pin striping paint?
  17. Which triple square is it? the brake caliper bracket? or the one that holds the wheel bearing hub assembly in? If it is the caliper bracket, see if you can drill out the head of it, then get the caliper bracket off the stud you just made and then use heat and vice grips to try and extract the stud. if you decide to do the other method where you use a torx hammered into it, make sure you use a really long breaker bar or rachet because that sucker needs leverage. don't know what to do if it is that massive one that goes into the end of the axle.
  18. build quality in old cars is generally terrible as compared to today. Age doesn't make it better. The thing about old cars is they look great but they are kind of a test as to how much bullshit you are willing to put up with. Honestly, door alignment isn't a hard job at all, but while you are in there you might as well do the hinges since they were never meant to last this long. Fixing the slow will make it way more fun, but you are right it does become a money pit after a while. Have you thought about gears? that might fix some of the slow, at least the off the line slow. none of these muscle cars were ever really "fast" without work put into them.

  20. Have you put any real seat time in the 1969 since you did all that work? Feels like you are getting itchy for something else because you aren't using it enough...but I could be wrong.
  21. I've never seen one with a bright red interior before. The Burgundy interior sure, but not the bright red. The Trim tag lists the interior as "Dark Carmine" which I have never heard of before. In case anyone is interested the data tag indicates a 2.73 rear axle ratio (GU2 code), and the 170hp 305ci V8 (L03) with a 700-R4 trans with overdrive (MD8 and MX0). If anyone wants to decode the rest of the tag: http://www.austinthirdgen.org/index.php?pid=30 There are a decent number of options on the car like tilt column and factory tinted glass.
  22. NA MB non turbo diesels don't have speedometers - they have gauges that measure their progress against the movement of glaciers.

wow. Did they do the RS bodywork as well? Seems like it. I love the comments where someone said "ask for more pictures, there is a lot going on with this car".

It's too bad they didn't' offer the V8 ones with the manual. I wonder how hard it is to swap that, and could the trans handle it because the thing weighs as much as a tanker.
