Lowered audi allroad makes it just another boring mom-wagon with an autotragic. The point of an allroad is to lift it more, put knobbies on it, and hoon dirt roads and snow. http://www.quattrodaily.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/audi-allroad-off-road-1050x629.jpg this guy gets it: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/audi-allroad-18/offroad-allroad-2843227/ Still, $800 for what is essentially a wagon with s4 power is a freaking score, even with the autotragic.
  2. it's like....someone sealed his garage up after a goodguys meet in 1992 and they just opened it now: https://cleveland.craigslist.org/cto/d/very-nice-collection-of/6527795330.html
  3. I dunno...I don't want to like it....but I kind of like it: https://mansfield.craigslist.org/cto/d/1949-buick-bomber/6537333449.html
  4. Off the top of my head, have you tried calling the Mercedes dealer (MAG or Germain) for a recommendation for a certified auto appraiser familiar with Mercedes cars? Independent appraisers are often used in lease condition disputes so the dealer might know one they can send you to. That being said the yellowpages has a section for this: https://www.yellowpages.com/columbus-oh/auto-appraisers and this national company says they service the columbus area and charge $300 for a total loss appraisal: https://autoappraise.com/services/
  5. FWIW I grabbed the steel 3 ton jack a couple weeks ago at HF for $68 during one of their parking lot clearance sales. It's not the low profile one but it still fits under the wife's hella lowered audi pretty nicely. Gotta watch those circulars/emails. So far it has been awesome. Still $98 for a low profile jack is a sweet deal.
  6. There are professionally made ones. Hobbyland has one that it lets it's customers use. Considering that there are model car building competitions, and that particulate matter affects model car paint more significantly than full size car paint because of scale and depth of paint, it makes sense that these would exist. What is silly is that most model car pro paint booths are several hundred dollars. The really high end ones can get close to $1000.
  7. This thread is worth it just for this simile. Tim, what you don't understand because you try to be so freaking literal sometimes is that Color, Race, and National Origin are three characteristics that are almost inseparable in all discrimination laws enacted in this country. Why? because they are basically sides of the same coin. So when people talk about racism in the context of government action, Color and National Origin (which includes heritage BTW) are implied by nature.
  8. modern bathroom fans are usually brushless. You can get really cheap ones from lowes or home depot (like under $20) when I lived in Flushing, I had a small spray booth I built out of an old ultrasound machine crate and a bathroom fan that was left over from an office remodel. Here is what I can tell you from that experience. You don't want it to pull a lot of CFM. The things it is removing are already vaporous so they move quickly, anything pulling a lot more air is just going to start sucking things into your spray booth and put junk in your paint. I originally vented mine to another part of the garage and found out pretty quick this wasn't smart because the area sometimes would have spray residue buildup. I vented it outside next to a tree and the same thing happened. I put a uni filter on it and it just ended up becoming a trap for fumes and paint. In the end I used the end of an external dryer duct and that helped because it directed it at the ground. Something I always wanted to try was using the blower motor fan setup off a junk car. Because the motor is displaced from the fan cage in most of them you can isolate the motor out of the air stream. It's not worth it to buy it new since the bathroom fan will probably be cheaper, but if you had a junk car around, or access to one you could probably score one for free or next to nothing.
  9. That's not always possible or feasible. Esp with larger items like vehicles or more complex ones like smartphones. We don't make everything in the US, nor should we. how is China "controlling" us. That's the leap I don't make with your logic. There are some things they will have leverage on and some things we will have leverage on and that's just how it works. we can't have a cold war with them because our efforts are collaborative. In many ways they are struggling to keep up with us, esp on the environmental and standard of living front.
  10. What is the thing that goes bad on them? the U-joints? Can the U-joints just be replaced or is it the whole shaft that needs to go?
  11. Maybe that works for consumer products, but there are way more supply side products where china may be the only supplier. We are a world economy now whether we like it or not. Are these problems though? The benefit of china is also the benefit to the US in the form of increased quality of life through cheaper consumer goods. This along with the dumping is a real problem, and this is also the national security problem as well since there has been no shortage of Chinese electronics shipped with Trojans, malware, backdoors, etc....They are using our own tech and development to both get better at spying on us and benefit themselves at 1/3 the R&D cost while being the US's biggest economic rival. It's a tangle for sure. There is always a strategy, but as time goes on options become more limited. Even more concerning than his disbelief in the science of climate change is Trump's disbelief in the science of economics. He has the least amount of acedemic economists on his staff than any prior sitting president. There is always a path if you have the right guides, but can he still find it with the wrong ones? we will wait and see.
  12. 100% agree. For the time being the US has a window where China still has an interest in protecting the maturity of their bonds. That's not a lot of time but it is time for someone to figure out how to right this ship. The problem that Trump is trying to solve for is real - china is dumping products in the US at below fair market value. Everyone told him that tariff's weren't the way to fix this but it's almost like he didn't trust his own people and needed to see for himself by doing it. Now that the tariffs haven't solved for it, and we are in a bigger mess, can we gracefully dig ourselves out of this hole?
  13. I think the debt to china is the red herring in this conversation. A lot of that is in bonds we sold them and have a plan for payoff, just while the bond is maturing it is considered "debt". Still, you nailed it right on the head - China is taking a page from the Russians to try and influence voters in the US using the resources they have. Instead of the internet though it's midwestern wallets.
  14. what do you mean "today". This has always been a thing. They used make TV shows about it (and still do). Anybody remember "That's Incredible!"? I do, that was a fun show. I missed "You Asked For It" but saw it in re-runs and occasionally watched "Ripley's Believe it or not". The only difference between that and youtube is there isn't a real FCC censor and the budget is much cheaper. Before there were TV's there were freakshows and sideshows, so people love a spectacle.
  15. The farming community is always the first on the fire in any tariff situation because we are a strong agricultural exporter. Being an agricultural state that is a direct impact to Ohio. Of the 128 items subject to China's response tarriff 78 are produce items, and another 5 are livestock items including pork (of which china makes up 17% of the whole US pork market). It is interesting that China went through great lengths to raise their tariffs in the exact same amount as Trump's tariffs to send the very specific message that this is a direct response. Anybody who is denying the potential for a trade war at this point is delusional.
  16. What’s sad is that these caravans have been going on since 2010 as a form of protest or demonstration, very few if any people actually get asylum in the US as a result of it. They weren’t a priority before because....well...our previous leader didn’t need to use them to hate monger before.
  17. maybe the rust ate the rest. https://www.performancetrucks.net/forums/drag-racing-139/post-your-weight-395245/
  18. mmmm....your tears are so salty. http://i.imgur.com/qDyemsO.gif What games? you are the one making all these statements about how white people are under attack, that you hate victims (even though you yourself are one), and saying ominous things about coming to my house uninvited at night when my family is asleep. I mean these things stand on their own dude, I'm not putting any words into your mouth. You want to paint me as some hippy liberal loser, go right ahead. You want to take issue with the fact that you have painted yourself as an Alex Jones level of bigotted idiot troll - well I think the person you need to take that up with is you. Or does personal responsibility apply to everyone but yourself?
  19. I'll tell you what's hilarious.... It's the same story shared over and over again by the local affiliates. WCMH cites WOWK as it's source, WOWK cites KHOU, KHOU cites WCNC, WCNC cites the NBC Charlotte affiliate, which cites it's Fox local affiliate, and it just keeps going on and on and on. Apparently there is no actual author to this story, yet someone wrote it. This has been floating around news desks since 2013 and somehow it only becomes an issue recently because of tide pods. And somehow most of the people reading this kind of stuff thinks nothing of it and doesn't fact check it at all, even though it is completely ridiculous.
  20. Orly? how fast we forget this gem: So we can ad liar and a chicken shit for not owning up to it. I saw it as a threat, several others here called you out as making threats, just because you now want to backtrack and say it isn't doesn't really matter. We all know who you really are Brandon. I think you should have stopped at stolen valor. You can disagree with David Hogg and his opinion on gun control all you like. It's an opinion and fair game for the public discourse. But you didn't do that did you? you chose to attack his status as a victim of a major tragedy alleging that he's not a "real victim", something that is not even in dispute. That has nothing to do with gun control, or opinions on political issues - that's like making fun of a 9/11 orphan because they don't have a dad. It's a shitty thing to do and shows a complete lack of moral compass or empathy. I get that your hero Alex Jones thinks that this is an ok thing to do, but really, look inside your heart and you know its a sign of weakness of mind and character. Pretty sure I qualify as a white male. Unless you want to join in Tim's usual rhetoric of insinuating that I am a race traitor. Also, I would be careful, proud boy, about meddling with anti-Semitic comments, that is of course unless you want people to think you are an anti-Semite. By the way Brandon, you didn't answer a single one of my questions directed at you. Why? Seriously, why are you ok with the president using fascist political tactics (that none of his predecessors dared to use)? why do you defend him?
  21. Either way, you still believed it without fact checking it. So what's the deal with people attacking snopes these days? it's a fact checker site and one that does a pretty good job by most reasonable metrics.
  22. I would hardly call the NY Post "mainstream" media. It's kind of a known tabloid. It's like the "fox and friends" of newspapers, which probably explains why Rupert Murdoch owns it. seriously, it's the paper the bridge and tunnel people read just for the gossip columns. Calling something in the post "news reporting" is like calling family guy a documentary on American life.
  23. And you are literally humorless. But we knew that already. Also, look at how triggered you are. It's cute. In all seriousness though - the hallmarks of an authoritarian or totalitarian rule aren't hard to spot if you are willing to look for them. Trump isn't the first president to attack the press, Nixon did it, George W Bush did it, Reagan did it, Washington did it, lots of presidents have had a hard time with media and press. What makes it a stand apart is that Trump is calling them an enemy of the people and using the power of the office to send that message on behalf of the American government. The only other president to do that was Nixon and things didn't end well for him. Even Nixon was more quiet about it, letting Spiro Agnew make claims against the press publicly while directing privately for his staff to threaten lawsuits and license revocation (which never eventually happened). He told his staff many times the press is the enemy of the people and the enemy of the government but even he wasn't stupid enough to say it publicly. Trump is very public about it and that is new for an American president. You know who did do it publicly though? Hitler. He called the press "the lying press" (Lügenpresse in German) in nearly every speech to the public. Seriously go back and listen to his speeches on youtube - you'll hear it. Also Stalin, Mussolini, Pol Pot, Franco, Putin...etc...all the top dictators in the world. So I am not saying he's literally Hitler, but I am saying he is absolutely using the same tactics and those tactics are a first for an American president. The question is, why are we tolerating it and why is anybody defending it? P.S. I am glad someone else knows about godwins law besides me. Still not as low class as someone who says a victim of a mass shooting isn't a "real" victim because he didn't get shot. Remember when you said that precious? It's a couple pages back if you need a refresher. It's right before the part where you made open threats against me (which by they way pretty much destroy any credibility you have on determining "class"). But let's get back on topic for a second. There are some things which are common to all politicians which means you can draw a parallel to any politician to Hitler for public policy things like the social safety net and public assistance. But there are some things that are unique hallmarks of facisim. You can't accuse any previous president of publicly declaring the press an enemy of the people, you can't accuse former presidents of saying the right of a post office guaranteed by the constitution doesn't apply to some american citizens because of political message. That is something he uniquely shares with fascist dictators. Brandon, why are you ok with that?
  24. 1) all parts that can be sourced off the donor truck. Most of that stuff will still be attached to either the trans or pedal assembly if you pull it out of a donor in the yard. 2) don't need the dash and engine harnesses, just the ECM and someone to program it. you can jumper the auto trans wiring to prevent a CEL from not being used 3) driveshafts for chevy trucks are usually the same length as long as you have the same configuration (long bed single cab). 4) column is a nice to have not a need to have. just pull the shifter rod out of the column. If you really want to delete the column shifter it is a plastic housing if you need it to look "factory" - you don't have to replace the entire column to do it. How many trans swaps have you done? because this seems like basic knowledge and it seems strange that you wouldn't know it.
  25. Let's see.... - Media, except for state run or media that agrees with him, is the enemy of the state. - Post office, as enumerated by the founding charter documents of the country, suddenly isn't for everyone - the country isn't for everyone, even if you have been living here and contributing to society for some time now, and that particular group of people who somehow all are racially homogeneous (he's never after the white immigrants, illegal or otherwise) and the causes for all of the country's problems. yep...checks out:
