  1. I wish I could only wash once a year, i have been washing mine every few days because every time I ride it comes back looking like an oversized fly swatter.

I should have taken a picture before I washed last time, it was absolutely ridiculous, front looked more insect colored than factory red.

I tried using a sponge last time, worked as well as the power wash but it took like 10 times as long.

I think I will go to the power wash again next time she needs a bath, and just use low low low power. I just can't stand the insect layer!

  2. I power washed my bike the other day… didn't leave any scratches or strip the paint at all, and I avoided spraying in the exhaust and air intake obviously, but now I'm wondering if that sort of high power water is messing up anything else I'm not thinking about.

How often do y'all wash your bike?

Do you do it with a bucket and sponge? Anyone else ever used the spray gun?

  3. I recently moved to the Columbus area from Denver for work.  No offense but I already miss the weather.  :(  I have been riding for about 10 years or so now.  I currently ride a Ducati Hypermotard.  I'm hoping to meet other riders and get information on events around the area. :riding:

Lucky. I can't wait to move to Columbus area. I've only lived in OH for 3 years, not done much exploring, but Columbus has been by far my favorite area. Want to move down there hopefully within the next year if I can find a job.

It looks like the areas South East of Columbus are great riding potential area.

Welcome to the forum, sounds like you have a beautiful bike, would love to see some pictures m8

  4. Hey everyone,

I left for the "dark side" a couple of years ago and bought a 2008 H-D XL1200C, and I took quite a bit of flak on this forum for it and left. Since then, I've decided to get back onto a sportbike and got a 2008 CBR600RR last week! I love it and really missed the sportbike community.

I'm still living in Columbus, and hope to see you all on the roads. Ride safe!

    ooooooh

    a 2008 CBR600RR aye?

    good choice =P

post some pictures of her! how many miles?

  5. I have never ridden on a track before, Mid OH track is about 80 miles from me but I think I am gonna shoot for August 15th and 16th and try the novice course.

Does anyone know what gear is required? I have a helmet (obviously), non-specific thick gloves, and riding specific jacket, but do I need some sort of regulation leggings as well to ride on the track? do I need special motorcycle gloves or will my thick winter / work gloves be permissible?

And any other advice anyone can give me? if I just have my temp license (valid through 2016) can I still ride or do I need my full license?

  6. maaan that sounds awesome!! Pretty bikes too.

I want to do this route but I have no trailer to haul my bike, I'd have to put so many miles on her..

also I think I will do the mid-ohio racetrack instructor course first to get some critique on cornering before I approach the dragon.

    thanks for sharing your story.

and F- the rain this year.

  7. I have never had that bike, but don't hear anything out of the ordinary. Wait for more asshats to express their opinion but I think you are fine.

    thanks Tonik

I'm gonna take it to the mechanic soon to get a good dressing down anyway since I think it's a good idea to do it after purchasing a used bike... but didn't know if I should stop riding it until then...

Don't think I'd be able to stop even if I wanted to lol

been riding every day until the rain starts. can't wait for the damn rain to STOP

  8. Video : https://youtu.be/s9D3Yo88jEg

    Hey yall!

I haven't ridden in 4 years so I sort of forgot the nuances of the supersport soundtrack,

can anyone who knows bikes tell me if this sound is normal?

Referring to the "rumbling" sound accompanying engine braking that starts a bit after 0:32 mark, during the deceleration,

sound quality is a bit crap because it's recorded off my phone in my pocket but I think you can still hear it, just volume warning bc of wind @ start.

anyone who could help shed some insight i would be very thankful!! probably nothing, but I'm paranoid about babying this new girl, you know how it is!!

  9. Well fellas. I did it.

Temp license in hand, bike title transferred, tax paid, registration sticker on, and boy what a dream it was to ride this thing home. it's amazing how fast it all comes rushing back even after a 4 year pause of riding.
As soon as the rain stopped pouring I was out there.
    :)
thanks for helping me realize my dream yall.

gotta remember to take some pics next time she's out in the sun

  10. Sam,  I'm not in your vicinity, but my bud is a cop there in Ada.  He is an avid rider and is sponsored by SportBikeTrackGear (sportbiketrackgear.com).  He can help you with the new helmet, for sure.

Wow really? The police in Ada are amazing! The only police force I have ever really palpably felt were part of the community instead of there to harass and shakedown the community.

I have lived in a lot of places with bad cops : \ but Ada PD are really nice.

Originally from the Lima area (Bath Township), so Ada and the surroundings were my youth stomping grounds.

Good roads are hard to come by, but here are a few to keep you amused...

SR 12 from Columbus Grove to Findley. Hit 37 in Findley and head south to SR81 take it east to Upper Sandusky and hit 61 South all the way Indian Lake. At 117 go west and hit 235 to bring you back to Ada.

The Belfountian area has some decent roads too.

Old Wapak road from Rimer to Wapak is also ok.

None of them compare to SE Ohio, but will get you by when you need a quick fix.

Beer Barrel pizza is good, but Westgate lanes is better!

    niiiiice man.

thanks for all the welcomes, this seems like an awesome community.

I'm heading out to pick up my bike tomorrow in Mid Point OH, gonna be droppin $5600 for this CBR 600 RR. It's a little expensive to spend on 2008 but I really want a CBR, it's close by (ish), and the thing is so mint, only 3800 miles, new tires, can't wait to ride :)

  11. if you are an experienced rider you can get the bike and just take the test. No MSF needed.

I wouldn't call myself an "experienced rider," but I'm not a total squid either- I actually took a MSF course in Texas and I did learn a lot. It was 4+ years ago, but I think that I remember the critical stuff in terms of maintaining awareness, assuming the worst about cars around you, avoiding oil, not locking brakes, etc.

You will need plates to drive it home. So do the sale in Findlay when the BMV is open.  Seller signs in front of a notary, you head up to the BMV and get the title transfered and your plates. You drive back to the bike screw the plate on.....call the insurance company with your cell phone...then drive home.

They missed a restriction on your temps...also no night riding.

Ok this is where I'm still definitely confused.

The seller has to sign in front of a notary? What exactly does this mean? I do not remember doing this in Texas when I purchased used bikes in the past.

Do I need to travel with the seller to some sort of government facility and sign papers in front of some official?

Now I'm actually looking at a better deal in Middle Point OH, it's about 40 miles from my home- so I would need to find a BMV there and I would actually go obtain the new plates and registry for my vehicle BEFORE riding it?

thanks for helping me with this fellas I can't explain how much time and headache yall are saving me.

  12. You forgot steps 7 & 8: 7- Twisties with O R group. 8- Track. Oh, I just noticed that you are in Ada. It's going to take some determination on your part. Best regards.

:( Yes it kind of sucks here... but!

in <1yr I will be able to choose which hospital I want to work at with this medical lab sciences degree, what city should I pick?

Could go Findlay, Lima, Marysville, Cinci, Toledo...

I'm thinking Marysville or Sidney bc they take me in the direction of Columbus, where I really want to end up working eventually, >> I understand the best riding country is S.E of Columbus. True?

Or anyone know of any other good twisty roads around my area ? or even better, a track where I can learn how to really ride a bike again?

  13. Hey guys! Just made my account on here, SUPER excited to start riding as soon as possible.

Have plans to get started with my license on Thursday, maybe even pick up a bike that night ^__^

I live in Ada, in my senior year at ONU, is anyone in the vicinity?

Not the best roads for riding out here compared to places I've previously lived, but I saw some fun turns on the way to Indian lake.

Does anyone from this area ride in groups? Or anyone around that can give me advice on where to get a tire changed / oil filter replaced / new helmet?

Looking forward to meeting some new riders!

    -Sam

  14. The seller signs the title and puts the price on the back of the title. This step must be notarized. This is all you need to get a title transfer at which time you will pay a fee and taxes.

So after he signs the title over to me, I can immediately ride away into the sunset with my temp license, take the title to some place to get it notarized, and pay sales tax there?

And the seller doesn't have to accompany me or anything right?

Also I'm not sure how I would get this bike insured before I have to drive it for the first time back home.

  15. 1) yep

2)This is the step you need notorized, when the seller signs the title over to you. The back of the title will have a spot for his signature and price.

    3) Not advisable though some people do. Be aware the state may look up reasonable values post title transfer.

    4) yep need a plate

5a) Probably should get insured with purchase at step 2.

5b) Your temp license is good for 6 months but has limits (no freeway or passengers plus must wear helmet until 1 year after full license)

    6) Good to go.

    Awesome!

    You rock.

Now I just need to figure out how to get this bike from Findlay back home to Ada and then to a skills test location probably somewhere in Lima all without going on a freeway :3

  16. Thanks for the response! Can you elaborate a little on what you mean though?
Sorry I am an idiot with this kind of stuff.

If I'm buying a used bike from someone and therefore having the title transferred to me in the process, I don't need to go pay sales tax?

What do i have to do then? just get the thing registered and I'm good to go?

  17. Hey guys, so I have done a lot of research in to this process in Ohio, doesn't seem horribly different from when I had my motorcycle 5 years ago in Texas but just wanted to make sure I have everything right so I don't end up in jail- If anyone can give me input I will be SUPER grateful

    1) Go to license exam station, take written exam, get temp license

    2) Go buy the used bike I want with a clean title, sign a bill of sale with seller, have him transfer title to me

    3) Take the title to title transfer station of some kind, have it officially notarized or whatever, and pay sales tax? (If I buy the bike for 4,000- can I say it was a private sale of like 3,000 to save on tax? or is this kind of thing not advisable)

    4) Get the bike registered, another payout to state

    5) Get the bike insured

    5) Go take skills course on my new bike within a few months (Do I have to do this immediately? Can I ride with my temp license for a few months?)

    6) Finally obtain motorcycle license and be totally legal.

Always feels like a lot of extra $ to pay and loops to jump through just to ride a bike, but whatever, it's worth it- do I have it all down? Missing any critical stuff?

MUCH LOVE to anyone who can let me know! Can't wait to be riding with you guys, haven't done it since I was 18 : )

PS- ~4,000 budget. Want a speedy little devil. What to get?

http://limaohio.craigslist.org/mcy/4989949556.html Can anyone find a more impressive deal than this? sounds like the guy is willing to haggle with me.
