  1. What neat old piece - I like seeing how things were made in the past.  Often old machines have "advanced" ideas.

In my line of work, I often have to file patents, or first do patent searches.  I don't know how many times I think I have an great new idea, then do a patent search and find basically the same idea patented in the '40s or '50's.

I had a z50 of the same color & probably the same year when I was a lad.  It was great fun.  I do remember getting the rear portion of the frame welded up on a regular basis due to the jumps & lack of rear suspension.  I had my heart set on something with a 5 HP Tecumseh engine on it at the time, but  I think my dad got the Z50 for me because it was only 2 HP. The 3 speed transmission was a big plus for  a rider in training though.  Pretty durable little bike.  Kudos for still having yours,

Yes, I (we) had the same issues with the frame cracking - poor thing was broken and welded over and over.  In fact, the frame is still cracked in multiple places!

So many good memories with that little machine:)

  3. Ah man.  Side effects, insurance, copays....we know these pains well in our house.  I remember getting $110,000 bills from children's hospital for our daughter's chemo, and that was just one week's treatment, every week for 11 months straight.  very sucky.

Just keep your chin up, keep digging, and don't let it beat you down.  Easy for me to type.....

Having things to look forward to always helps.  You aren't far from me at all, so we're going to do some riding come spring time!  Sound good?

Maybe meet up somewhere, head to Millersburg direction, eat some amish food, enjoy the day on two wheels.  Nothing better for the soul.

Unfortunately it is not curable, you can treat the symptoms.

    oof....that's rough bud.

One thing I've learned thru my families health struggles is the docs don't know everything, and it pays to research on your own.  Try everything - the holistic stuff, whatever gives you some relief.  You've probably already done this, but I bet there's a Psoriasis forum or FB page that may give you some ideas to try.  Good luck to you!

I was diagnosed in 2012 with plaque psoriasis. It is a progressive thing. It didn’t bother me to much for 4 or 5 years. I  have it on the palms of my hands and a spot on my scalp. It has gotten to the point now that I am getting pain in my joints, psoriatic arthritis. Not good. I just went on Otezla. It seems to be helping, but the side effects were so bad that I quit taking after 10 days. Not sure where to go from here.

Sorry to hear about your struggles.  I wish I could tell you about a magic pill or something, but I just don't know anything about psoriasis.  I feel for you.  It's tough when the body decides to do things we don't want to happen.  Maybe the docs can come up with something else to try.  Google Rick Simpson Oil, may this or something similar could be used if your willing to travel to states where it's legal (I believe similar products will be legal in Ohio this September).  Keep up the fight brother!

  6. Any more hats in the ring?

Can't wait. I lie in bed at night and imagine I'm on the Duke rippin' up MO.

I remember having a hard time thru the S-curves to enter the keyhole very well.  Mainly because I suck, but that keyhole corner puckered my sphincter, cuz it was bumpy and downhill.

And going over that hill after turn 11 into thunder valley was scary - the rear would break loose over the top, then the bike would wheelie down the hill!  Awesome.  Scary, but awesome!

    Getting a chub...

While yes the idea of having a front plate is stupid, the ticket itself is not. You were currently in violation of ORC. Instead of bitching about it maybe you should take the time to write a letter to your legislator asking for clarification on why it’s required and if they could possibly look into removing that portion of the code

    Ah..gee thanks for the scolding.

That feeling that you get when you haven’t smoked in a while and then you smoke. Right there!

oof.....I can feel it.  I quit smoking 12 years ago, and every now and then still want to smoke the hell out of cig.  Back in my stupid youth I tried just about all of the recreational items, but nicotine is the most addicting drug I've experienced.  And it's subsidized with tax dollars.  Wait!  let me get my plaid paints up to my armpits, white belt, and start complaining about the government.....

  9. Annoying, but shit happens.  I've gotten stupid tickets before (like no front plate) just because the dude was in a bad mood.  And I've been let go for big smokey burnouts:).  I have a couple friends who are LEO's, and they're great dudes - and of course ride too.

All I know is that I have at least 45 moving violations on my record, and deserved every one considering the 10:1 ratio of getting away with it vs getting busted!

Now than I'm older, I pick my locations a lot better - no more holeshots in the middle of town!

Installed some Woodcraft frame sliders and a ASV clutch lever. The eBay seller sent me the wrong brake lever. :nono:

I like those short levers, maybe you should give them a try.  On many of my bikes I've slid the lever mounts inward on the bars, so that just my first two fingers are grabbing the lever near the end.  I do this cuz sometimes the lever will pinch my last two fingers when I pull the lever in.  Depends on the bike/lever geometry etc.

  11. Hey @TwiztedRabbit are you putting an aftermarket crank in the motor?  I just noticed the one pic above showing the crank along with one rod and piston, the crank has grooved main journals.  The crank in the other pic showing the crank in the upper case with rods bolted up has smooth main journals.  Some top secret R6 building secrets revealed on OR?

All the V8's I've built have smooth journals on the crank, with the oil grooves in the bearings - that's why the one pic caught my eye.

  12. This tread is giving me a chubby.  I love building motors, but most of my race motor builds have been for dirt late models, drag cars, and dirt bikes, quads etc.  I did a big bore kit on my old ZX11, but that was the only I4 bike motor I got into, and I never split the cases.

Thanks for sharing the good stuff Rabbit!

  13. I'd love to attend the meet and great, being a new member of the forum it would be nice to meet some of you guys face to face.  Unfortunately I'm hanging out with my daughter in hospice this weekend.  Glad to have this time with her, just wish it was not like this.

I was in Wheelsports last spring getting parts for my EXC, and they still had a '14 SDR sitting there, and still asking almost list price for it.  That was the only street bike I saw in the building.

Wheelsports is kind of a weird place, dirt bikes and weed whackers - just never seen a bike dealer like that before.  They have good inventory of dirt bike parts, but yeah - not much for the street bike crowd.

That reminds me, KTM is now part of the Brembo master cylinder recall.  Sucka$$.  Now I gotta find a dealer to do the recall work on my SDR.  I hate other people wrenching on my bikes.

Passing and Novice when used to refer to a Mid-O track day do not belong in the same sentence. I was spoiled in N2 novice group. Outside passing allowed in designated corners, CR's giving wave bys. Its basically like Mid-O I group. I think I made it 3 sessions before the I bump at Mid O.

Things must have changed at MO since I was there almost 5 yrs ago.  We were allowed to pass on the back straight after the keyhole.  I passed some guys, and I got passed too.  We didn't have to stay in line behind the CR's.

Actually our last session of the day got red flagged - I was exiting the keyhole (slowly, cuz I'm slow), and 5 guys passed me on the inside exiting the corner.  I was able to stay with them thru the kink and heading into china beach, but was about 50yds back.  One of the guys lost the front, and swept two other guys into the sand.  I almost ran over the guy who lost the front, as he was rolling on the track - I could see his face, shield was knocked off his helmet.  He got a helicopter ride.  Maybe they tightened things up after that?

I only have one track day under my belt. But, I did bump to Intermediate. So I will consider myself ineligible. Really this was just a shameless plug to mention getting bumped to I after only one session.

Good luck to the winner! I intend to be there that day.

    Bragger.:D

I'll be happy to not be the slowest in novice.  Second to slowest is a win for me!
