  1. So, my wife is considering getting into riding. Currently the courses are all showing as full at the polaris in Middleburg until October. I mentioned the stand by policy but, not sure if it is worth her taking the time to simply be turned away.

Does anybody know if it is worth trying to get into a class from standby or should she just wait until October??

Replacement value is also a huge factor. $12k brand new bike vs $6k 8 yr old bike.

Hows your driving record and the theft rate in your area? I live near Canton where shit goes missing on the regular.

I have a perfect driving record. When I got the insurance I had one accident that was almost three years old which affected my rate.

I live on the west side of Cleveland and I don't think anyone is interested in my Triumph

I haven't paid over $500 a year for 2 or 3 bikes 2 riders and full coverage in 10 years.

$390 right now for 3 bikes 2 riders full coverage and $500 deductable

Right now I am paying over $1k a year for one bike and it is a cafe bike, hence why I am looking at other carriers

  4. So, I currently have my bike covered from State Farm.

I just ran a quote through Geicko and found that the coverage from them was less than half the cost of what I am paying now. I asked a few of my friends and they had some pretty bad things to say about Geicko.

But, I wanted to survey the board and see who you guys would recommend and why.

I need to correct this. Ohio's is $50 for the BRS (basic Rider Course) not affiliated with MSF anymore. MSF did raise the price for a student to $100 this year, but Ohio is not recognizing MSF anymore.  Motorcycle Ohio is working hard to get an advanced course together now. But the new BRS is a whole new ball game and would recommend it to everyone to take it. The last class I taught a few weeks ago had 3 "no shows". So that's 3 open seats. And they are only getting more empty this time of year, and the weather has been phenomenal!

This is correct. I took the Motorcycle Ohio course last fall and I have to say that it is both easier than what I have read about the MSF (No Box) but, they do work hard at teaching you to think about being in traffic.

I would love to take an advanced course as well but, the only one in my area was full months ahead of the start date. I hope they get more setup soon. In the meantime I am sticking to researching riding techniques and continuing to practice and not just take the same roads everyday.

I do think that just requiring that everyone take motorcycle Ohio in order to get your initial endorsement (no matter how much practice you already have) and requiring that anyone looking get back to riding take a refresher course would be a good starting point.

Nobody here really rides in Cleveland. They all ride south towards the good roads.

Thanks for letting me know. Guess I will just enjoy a quiet ride just me and the road

It corners well, but limited to 45 degrees of lean (by the front end), but the pegs drag much sooner than that :(

The entire premise of this things seems to be that 3 wheels have more grip than 2.  Well, just get a car then.

Not to mention it's much uglier than a Can Am Spyder.

It's an interesting engineering exercise, but it will be a commercial flop.  These will be sitting in showrooms for years as deeply discounted leftovers.

I agree that the sales on this thing are likely to be less than Yamaha would like. It seems like a weird cross between the Can-Am and a traditional bike. I saw this for the first time at the motorcycle show in Jan and just stared at it confusingly wondering what the hell is that.

Perfect example of different reasoning. You are probably 100% in control of your bike, but the thought of liability brings about a whole other level of anxiety. I understand that and completely agree. If I am even slightly off my game, I will just stay where I am and wait it out. So, I remove that variable from my personal algebra.

Regardless, I went to bed sick as hell last night... (thanks, @Gixxus Christ!), so I doubt I am going to make an appearance at dinner. Even if I feel better, I don't want to get anyone else sick.

What a miserable reward for helping out a friend.

  9. I am fine having a beer with dinner and driving a car. But, having a beer and jumping on a bike is not in the gameplan. Thankfully the weather has pushed off enough that I rode the Thruxton to work this morning. I am going to stop by on my way home and look forward to meeting any of you guys that may be there.

  10. Two questions is everyone planning to ride (weather looks marginal for riding). Also, if by any chance anyone is going to be there early I would love to meet and grab a quick drink. I can't stay for dinner but, I work about a mile from the restaurant so I thought I could head over briefly for a quick drink and meet some of you guys.

  11. I recently bought a 20s evo and I have to say that once I got the speakers mounted up exactly where I wanted them I love it. I have had a conversation at 70 mph and the person on the other end had no idea that I was even on a ride.

I do still have to get used to work the controls. Also, it is hard to find the phone button with thick winter gloves on but, manageable with practice I'm sure.

Has anyone used the Sena remote that hooks to your grips? I have thought about it but, would hate to waste my money not too mention giving up space on the grips.

Lol idk how I got mentioned... I'm def out due to finances. Maybe next year 😂 shit I'm trying to visit Ohio this year and that may not even work out, but if so I'll let you bubbies know when I'll be in town.

    Fuck snow. The desert rules.

Don't talk about the desert are you trying to make me homesick

Welcome, and @what is correct, one of the hardest addiction to quit if you have the 2 wheel blood type.

Put at least a thousand miles under your belt and then start joining some like minded riders for rides. Till then don’t join any group rides posted here even if it says noob friendly :)

Thanks for the advice. I haven't planned on a group ride. Although I wouldn't mind meeting some people to ride with in smaller groups say 2 or 3
