theyre supposed to be flexible. like tall buildings, if they werent flexible, if we made the whole thing out of b29 grade steel, it would snap in half the first serious wave it took.
the pictures are even more impressive than the videos. i have two observations, one, if that a cargo ship, and the deck is clear, that means its riding really, really high in the water, and those waves are up over it anyways. were talking 60 foot seas. second, if its an oil or gas tanker, then its built like an iceberg, and almost 80% of the ship rides under the water line even on calm seas. taking waves over the entire ship like that would be scary in either situation. i love ho the optics in the third pic give the impression that its already broken in half.
