  3. today I learned that a 4% addition of aluminum in a zinc casting mixture will increase its strength considerably.
  4. Last week; http://www.everestnews.com/stories2005/pictures/heli.jpg Aint the law of averages a bitch? tongue.gif Not to mention the fact that there is no way you'd keep the food down after such trips. graemlins/puke.gif On a side note, June 2005 has already claimed 2 lives on Everest in 2 seperate incedents that I know of, none involving helicopters. edit; make that 3 [ 10. 6. If you do not rent a car and take a lap of the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, you will be executed upon return to US soil. tongue.gif
  7. Luckily for you, most highschools there require the students to take a few years of english. So, stick to talking to folk that look like they paid attention in school, I.E. the manager and not the bus boy, and you should be fine. In hte tourist thick areas, you will have no trouble finding an english speaker. Palermo Imola Modena Le Man, Cirque De Lesad London Athens Delphi Crete Venice Rome Toledo Monaco The Alps Deutschlend (black forrests) Chernobyl Scottish highlands Mt Elbrus C'mon, I could spend a life roaming europe and not get bored. Go before you're 25 so train passes are cheap.
  8. +1 Though all accounts point to him being a nice dude. I just dont like the fact that he's just jumping into it. Never summited anything before, and he wants to start with everest. It's getting to be a tourist destination for the super rich. $60,000 gets you a guided trip up, with no garauntees, anyways. He's got enough money to stay there till the weather favors him. Personaly, I wouldn't want him on my team, No matter how nice he is. Inexperience is a liability. thats one in ten dead. I garauntee his climbing party will be over 10 people untill the home stretch. Ad in the sherpa's that will be carrying his crap, you're looking at well over 100. All of them have experience, odds what now? smile.gif
  9. http://www.daniellefisher.net/ damnit, ooooh to be single again. tongue.gif
  10. http://www.mounteverest.net/story/TomCruisetoclimbEverestAug252004.shtml Sad shit is, if his heart and lungs dont fail, he might actualy make it. At least we can be garaunteed that he'll have a solid 6-7 weeks of shitty existence.
  11. hot dipped galv is the way to go, but it costs more. We buy stuff by the millions, so 4 cents a part ads up. I'd be cheaper to get the zinc with 4% or so more AL, making it a bit harder. Galv is actualy just zinc, it just bonds with the metal via a different proccess. Plating is just fancy paint.
  12. yep. Organized religion has always been about control. Faith is between you and your maker. Which is why I find it odd that some christians bitch about beig able to pray out loud in public schools, or have mass prayer at events and such. If you were realy in touch with the lord, you'd know that the loudness of your voice doesnt get your words to him any faster. Its just a bunch of people wanting attention. Organized religion is an antiquated way of ruling the faithful. Now Unorganised christians want to join in the farse by making it all about "Hey look at me I'm christian over here! join in!" I don't want gay pride parades, and i dont want public prayer, keep that shit to yourself.
  13. The zinc plated stuff you work with, does it squeak? i.e. two plated parts making contact, do they squeak? loudly? puzzling over a problem at work, wondering if our stuff aint the only thing that does.

  18. because a true beleif is not a choice, it's an undefinable compulsion. You dont choose to for any reason, you just beleive. There is no hard evidence supporting any beleif system 100%, anyone who holds a beleife of any kind does so with a measure of blind faith.

  21. It was a curiculum. tongue.gif On top of that, my father studied many years at a seminary, and came close to becoming a preist (lucky for me he changed his mind, eh?). Other religions, yes, I have been known to go out of my way to learn about them. But, christianity, I dont need to; Listen to them. You dont have to agree witht hem, but most people are info resources waiting to be tapped. I klisten to my dad whenever he gets into it, lucky for me he's not pushy, and it quite intelegent and good at making points.
  22. The A10 is a far more deadly air to ground killer then air to air. My posting of it was in responce to the SAM and 50 cal ground ordinance posts. The airborn one even has a pave penny. graemlins/thumb.gif
