  1. I wasn't really worried about what it made. I just want to get the microsquirt all setup and working before the new motor.
  2. Brian is the man. Last weekend I converted the Factory Five Roadster from EEC-IV Speed Density to MegaSquirt in preparation for a new motor I have on the way. Brian got me in and on the dyno in a day's notice. On top of that, he helped me work out a couple of timing and wb02 issues. I couldn't imagine better service from any shop.
  3. The easy way to 'move' the clutch pedal is to pull it out (only 1 bolt), take an angle grinder, put a 30-45* groove in each side of it, bend it in a dogleg in the grooves and have someone weld them shut. (or if you have access to a press you can just bend it in that). When you say the oil gauge has issues, what do you mean? The gauge/sender in fox bodies was more like a dummy light. It showed either no pressure or middle of the gauge. If it's showing nothing on idle and middle once you rev it up, it's just an old tired motor. Pick up a cheap mechanical gauge at your local auto parts joint of preference and slap it on to see what it's really doing.

  5. The car is mine. The motor is out of an 87gt and has been transplanted into a Factory Five Cobra. The heads are E7TE castings -- I haven't had them off. The intake is a stock GT intake from that year. The exhaust doesn't sound like it's running any sort of cam (although it's hard to tell that with side pipes as it doesn't have the same sound as an h-pipe). It's running the stock computer (speed density) (no tweecer, no chip -- the J3 port is empty). Yes, the numbers are abnormally high (even after removing the smog pump/ac/etc). So... there's two options. Either it's stock and just puts down abnormal numbers... OR Whoever owned the motor in it's previous life did something (home ported heads? / home porting of the intake / cam / possibly rockers) and used some fairy dust to keep the speed density ECU happy with those changes. Call BS if you like. If it matters that much to you, you can pull the heads and check them as long as I get the car back running when you're done. And Thorne -- Keep my car out of your e-peen contests.
  6. Who in town does good rear end work? I've got new gears and a Torsen T2 to go into the roadster. The rear axle is out of a 87 mustang gt. Thanks.
  7. IIRC, Low sulphur diesel is being mandated by the EPA sometime this year or next. Ford allegedly has a 6 cylinder diesel F150 in the works for when that happens.
  8. I live in Galloway. I just moved up here from Tampa, FL the end of last summer, so this will be my first year.
  9. Some of you guys might be interested in coming out for this...There will be 250+ Cobra Replica's at the show (and also some Daytona Coupes and GT40's). The Ohio Cobra Club is putting on the 2006 London Cobra Show June 23-25. The show benefits Cystic Fibrosis. Events are open to the public and rides will be given for donations to Cystic Fibrosis. We are also raffling off a completed Cobra kit car. Tickets are $50 each (limit 2500). There's lots more information here: http://www.londoncobrashow.com/
  10. Hi everybody!! I'm fairly new to Columbus. I moved here from Tampa, FL in August/Sept and haven't posted much. It's time for some winter projects on the car. What places in town have decent selections of grade 8 and better fasteners? Who in town can make up hydraulic lines and the such? Thanks, Leonard
  11. There's the problem. I've got a specialty policy on the FFR (limited use, 5k miles per year, full coverage -- $250/year) BUT, they won't insure it for more than the least covered of my other vehicles. Right now, I've got 50/100/50 on everything. If I get a beater and put crappy coverage on it, they'll drop the coverage on the FFR to match it.
  12. Here's a picture of the FFR for anyone who's interested. http://leonard.afraid.org/albums/FFR1728/Ext2.thumb.jpg
  13. How about a suggestion that doesn't involve insuring a 3rd vehicle?? graemlins/doh.gif [ 04. June 2005, 07:06 PM: Message edited by: FFR1728 ]
  14. You left out love bugs and snowbirds. I'm not exactly looking forward to driving the Lightning in the snow. I suspect it's managable with snow tires. I was considering picking up a set of expedition takeoffs with all season tires to put on it for the cold months. Anyone have any better ideas?
  15. lol... you guys are funny. It's all misconceptions.... 90+ degrees for months on end gets old. It's way too hot outside to do anything from 8am until 10pm. Palm trees are worthless. They don't make enough shade to be worthwhile and I don't like cocunut. REAL Florida girls aren't pretty. The ones who move here are nice for a few years until they start to look like saddlebags from the sun.
