ive got a site i use at work all day. i do collections so quite often i have to verify property ownership and values, etc, before we sue. ill have to see if i can find it
1) http://publicrecords.netronline.com/townfinder.aspx <--- click. scroll down to find county by zip code (unless you know it)
2) enter zip code, press "search". it will show you the county that zip is located in
3) go to top, select "select a new state"
4) choose state. either click on map, or at the box below the map
5) choose county from list on left
6) will come up with a list of offices that should help you. auditor, recorder, register of deeds, assessor, etc etc.
some counties may not have the info listed online. some states (CA for example) will give you property info, sale date, sq footage, sale amount, but not who the property is owned by
you can use this for a pretty large majority of the country. you dont even need much info except a name, address, and the county to find out info about someones home
