  1. Easy on the sticks haha! I'll agree it does help to an extent, the heavier the boat the harder on the drives too. Problem is mercury doesn't make anything worth a damn that's middle of the pack. The XR bravos are a little stronger but unless you step up to a #6 it's scary with anything over 600 to the prop. This thread is making me want to redo my motor for some more speed, but this damn boat shit is too expensive . Better off buying a bigger boat with the bigger power in it! Get this thing in the water already wanna hear it scream.
  2. Yea the checkmates do well with a -1 shorty on there. I would think with 650 you should be able to hit right around 80. Trim that sucker and hang on for dear life, the slack in the steering will suck at those speeds. I would be scared shitless without the external rams. Makes all the world of difference.
  3. Jesus 30?! Shooting for 650-700 hp then it would seem. That checkmate will be a fucking demon on the water! Should be a mid to high 80s boat now. Damnit making me wish I had skipped the new truck and went with my 540 this season.. We put a 4 blade 27 hydro on the velocity this winter and runs way better than the 24 hydro we had before. I agree with you over propping and keeping the rpms down.
  4. Linn does your boat have external steering ? Going to be a handful without it depending on how much mph you are looking to pick up.

Heads cam and more inches, or putting a twin screw on it ? Better hope that bravo is in good shape !

  5. Sam paid 22 k for the boat, it has external steering , tabs and drive shower on it along with the aftermarket exhaust. Haven't seen anything lately even without all that for less than 30k. We ran it again today the boat likes 1 to 2 foot chop to run hard. We had it in the back water running on flat and didn't do as well. Boat definitely has a mild cam in it trying to get some videos of it my buddy took today.
  6. What year is the fountain ? The older ones without the single step are noticeably slower. What boat do you have again? My boat may have a mild cam in it too , sounds a bit healthier than most 496/502 I have heard. Seems to be making a bit more power than the rated 415 it's supposed to be kicking out.
  7. Linn , it's the hull on these boats that makes them quick. It's 8 foot beam. The tapered v bottom on these boats are amazing, the pad makes the difference compared to say a baja or checkmate of similar size.
  8. Being around all this water in Jacksonville couldn't take not having a boat any longer. Picked this up yesterday ,1999 velocity 260. First run out today in the St. John's, was hoping for 80mph best we saw with full tank of fuel and four people was 76 on the gps!

  9. After talking with the shop the girl took it too all the lines are corroded to hell and back and one is gone, all the other brake components are in good order, just needs new lines.
  10. Girlfriends 94 mustang v6 just had some brakes lines break, just wondering what it would cost to have them replaced? Looking at them they are all rusted and about to go. With labor and parts what would a estimated range of cost be?

    Thanks

  11. So I have the opportunity to get the following television for $600 as my girlfriends friend is moving away and she does not have the means to take this with her.

I do not know much about HDTV formats 480p/720p/1080i/1080p.

From what I have read most television HDTV broadcasts are still done in the 1080i format...

Just wanting to know if this TV is worth that and if it will be viable for the next few years in terms of display quality.
