No need to be a cocksucker about it. I live in the country, surrounded by nearly $500k houses. Sure don't see a ton of EVs out this way. Not sure you have to be a brokedick to choose to live in the country away from folks such as yourself. My point is, EVs don't make sense for a LOT of people, at least in their current iterations. Do I think that manufacturers shouldn't continue to innovate? Not at all. But, a HUGE portion of this country doesn't choose that Urban lifestyle, for a reason. I'm not gonna dig into trying to find some "actual evidence" because I honestly don't give a shit. The car manufacturers are going to do what they're going to do, regardless of what I think. All I can tell you is that driving to work every day, I pass a lot of fairly pricey ICE vehicles sitting in driveways, and not a whole lot of EVs. Must be some reason for that besides us all being a bunch of broke dicks. -

Where and to who are these being sold? I'd guess city dwelling millennials, those who are upper-middle class, or those in lower-middle class who are stretching their budget looking for a status symbol. -

Exactly this. I hate people. I have zero desire to be packed in around people. Personally, I COULD make an EV work for a daily commuter, but that's me and my situation. ~60mi commute. House was built in 2003, so has 200a 240v service. I'd have to install a 60a line to my garage (east side of house) from my panel in the basement (west side of house). I'm confident I could do it myself, but I'm not certified in electrical in anyway, so if I wanted to cover my ass, I would probably have to hire it done. Given how busy those guys are these days, they would probably charge me a fortune. Also, for my frequent cross country hunting trips, an EV would be absolutely worthless. I'm frequently driving 18h a day, stopping in the middle of nowhere to camp out for a few hours before hitting the road again. And then when I get to my destination, I'm into some nasty mountainous terrain. Yea, an EV in their current offerings wouldn't fair well for this. I understand each person's needs and situations are different, but I agree with the other fella, in that, shoving them down EVERYONE'S throats probably won't work, and is a bit presumptuous about how people live their lives. -
I don't know anyone, personally, who has done that.

About as fruitful as any conversation on a forum would be.

Honest question. Do you think the disproportionately high amount of black on black violence has any sway or influence on how police approach and handle those in the black community? Do you suppose they (LEOs) are molded in any way by their experiences?
-
Honest question. Can somebody link me to just one police shooting where the victim wasn't doing something asinine that got the whole thing started? Legitimately, the only one I can think of is the white kid lying on the hallway floor of a hotel that gets lit up by a cop with a twitchy finger.

That guy is absolute trash. Like most celebrities.

Welp. Gotta eat my words. Court of public opinion and threat of bodily harm and/or doxxing is a real swayer of of opinions in today's day and age. I didn't think they presented anything close to concrete evidence in either of the murder charges, yet here we are. Dude is clearly a shithead in this case, but murder seemed like a bit much.

Fair point, however, I believe 2020 was the highest # of homicides on record for Cbus. We're on schedule to crush that. I heard (unverified) that Cbus now has more shootings per Capita than Chicago. That's concerning.

The fact that we have a mob screaming for justice is hilarious to me. So if this dude is acquitted on all charges, by a jury of their (racist?) peers, are they still going to consider that justice? Of course not. They want THEIR version of justice. Its sickening. The defense has decimated the prosecution in this case. At best, I see a negligent homicide charge. I do not see either of the murder charges sticking. Either way, prepare yourself for more riots. This shit is getting ridiculous. The anti-police movement in this country and the police now treating people with kid gloves because of what may happen to them, along with the lockdowns causing people to go HAM, has had a serious impact on society. I just read on the news this morning that Columbus has doubled its homicides from this point last year. That's absolutely nuts. Great job, everybody, you're doing so well!

Had 12k Dogecoin that I sold April 7th after it had been quite stagnant for a couple months. F.M.L.

Starting to sound an awful lot like South Africa.

I'm always curious what people whining for more gun control think about the hundreds of other laws already on the books. What makes the next "common sense measure" the one that's finally the answer?

They can also go to their local Walmart and pick up a couple pressure cookers if they so choose. Um...there is. It's #2 under the Bill of Rights.

Hello from the Pro-gun crowd. Welcome to the fight.

Not even stainless... Not in the budget?

Do you think the housing market is going to cool off soon?

Yup. Banks are pulling the same shit they did 15 years ago. Yup. -
I smashed 3/4 of a 750ml bottle on the night OSU slammed Clemson and woke up with the worst hangover I have had in a decade. Damn that stuff mixed well with some Diet Coke. I haven't had a sip of whiskey since that night.

How has your gas/utility heating bill been this winter?
RedRocket1647545505 replied to cstmg8's topic in Dumpster
I've never done the math, but I turn my HVAC off at 6a when I leave, and turn it back on via my app at 6pm before heading home. House is 2000sf, built in 2003. Heat pump primary with propane auxiliary. Even with the single digit temps last week, the house never dropped below 55*. By the time I get home at 730, the house is back up to 64-65*, which is where I keep it. Again, never done the math, but I figure even 1.5hr at full burn still has to be better than leaving it on all day. Even when the heat function isn't on, the blower still kicks on occasionally to circulate the air. -
IB4 Bigfoot is heard banging on a rock or something.

It is some slippery shit though. My driveway has about 5" of granular sleet/ice that the ole Colorado refused to go through. I couldn't even get the front of the truck off the road. Its about time for a replacement, I think.
