  1. 1. Go with nitrous.

    2. Analyze results.

    3. Make decision on what to do next given your results with nitrous.

This is a no-brainer to me, my friend.

There will always be big turbos out there waiting to be put on your car.

+1 to this all day long. If I get a vette instead of a supra this is the course of action for me. Ls1's love spray and will hold long enough to figure out what you want to do from where you are at. I say go 2 stage 150shot and spend little money and run fast times. When the day comes to then upgrade to boost you will already be in the low 11's for sure maybe even high 10's with a good heads and cam set up and you will only be making the car more efficient at that point.

  2. What this man said. You are brave for buying a modded supra. I know the motors in those are rediculously strong, but your still taking that risk. I'm sure those motors aren't cheap to replace.

My first triple ha ha. Just found this looking around.http://www.titanmotorsports.com/32litimopst.html That is right around a Texas speed ls built block. This is their "poor boy" block rated to 1000hp and 9000+rpm if need be.

  3. Does a supra have a backseat?

if you want to compare apples to apples you should really be looking at the 3000gtvr4/stealth/fd rx7/300zx/c4 vette.

Ha ha ha I saw an old cover of a car and driver from one of their old fast lap events and all these cars were on the cover. Very few cars from the 90's era are my taste. The rx7 has been a thought for years but for some reason I have never loved those cars. They are good looking and handle great but I just do not want one. 3000gt/ or model of is not what I want. Heavy cars and awd add up to a boat that needs 500hp just to feel quick. And if I go vette it has to be c5 because I love the ls1.

I disagree. Since this is a used car decision he should compare cars in his price point. True the cars you listed were your competing group when the MKIV was released, but this isn't 1993 and he isn't buying new.

And yes they are 2+2 cars, though fitting 4 adults in that car would not be comfortable.

+1 to you sir. I would take the back seats out honestly. They are as worthless as the back seats in my old ws6.

How about an LS swapped 3 series BMW? They can be drop dead sexy and can turn as well as go fast in a straight line.

Humm I think I need to look into this a little bit more. We are in need of a swapped bmw around here again.

  4. Compression like Scott said, check the PS lines for leaks, and profile the person you're buying from.
Ok that is what I have read so far so I guess I am on the right track. I know that I will also be picky on who I buy the car from for sure as well. I will keep the same things in mind that I would have if I was buying a c5 vette which is my other choice right now.

I'd join a supra forum and do a lot of research before I spent $25k on a 16+ year old car notorious for being modded, abused, etc

Why not buy a c6 vette and add a procharger at low boost? An endless supply of aftermarket support, and likely cheaper to mod than a supra. Once you get into the 800rwhp range, you drastically reduce reliability, the 'just fun to cruise' factor, and the weight of your wallet.

Like I said above I will look into this alot before I make my choice. If I go vette it will be c5 ms4 with big heads and a 2 stage 150 shot.... Then save for ls7 swap...

  5. And for the money Dave is looking to spend you could build a whole lot of car.

    Something like this

    or this

Or maybe an ex race car and put it back to street trim, stick in a LQ4 with a mild build and enjoy.

Not my style man. I have to look good while driving around and to me those cars are far from hot in my book. Plus I have no intentions of drag racing the car. It will happen to just set times but they car will only be tracked like 3 times a year. I want a cruiser, roll racer, car that will pull looks in the valet lot as much as the car meet lot. I know many people like those cars but they are far from my style.

  6. well if you consider a completely different transmission, suspension, functional brake ducts, special brake compound, halfshafts, clutch, glass, gauges, no sound deadening, titanium exhaust, super light wheels among several other things not many changes you are correct.

Same motor just different heads, cams and a few other things if I am not mistaken.

incorrect- one of the few things that is the same is the intake manifold and that is only on 2001 and newer cars.

If your going to modd honestly just get a c5 non zo6 because the power numbers will be almost the same once you go big heads and cam.

This I will agree with but the weight will not be the same. A c5z weighs a good 3-400 lbs less than a standard c5 and the gearing is different. About 3100 lbs.

I did take mine out in the snow once to fill up the gas tank for storage a few years ago-- it was easier to control than my old supercharged h/c/i 5.0 mustang (about the same power) and the mustang had much smaller all season tires- if I had an all season compound or better yet winter tires I would easily drive it in the winter- the recommended setup is normal c5 front wheels all around with some blizzaks- but thats why I have the explorer- I have had enough white knuckle driving for this lifetime... both cars were better than my old LT1 f-body in the snow.

Sorry I did not break out all my mags to quote all the differences. They are both 5.7l motors. The ls6 is just an upgraded ls1 period the end. Did they do a few different things to the motor and add a few changes to the body and suspension yes. But really its the same car sitting lower with different heads, cam, and intake manifold, titanium exhaust manifolds which everyone will change anyways, and slightly different cylinder heads, netting a 50hp difference that again will not matter if you go to a heads cam car.

  7. Do it yourself, it's not hard.

PM me with any questions you have about the cars.

I know the basics about them but honestly when it comes to working on cars I change oil and put gas in the car ha ha. I do not like working on them thats why there are professionals who accept cash and visa :)

If you go with an AEM or Haltech (Recommended), basically any good standalone, I've got a guy who is very knowledgeable in making big power with these cars.

Sounds good. Right now I am still in the research phase. I still really like c5's but the more I look at the supra I am liking them more and more. Plus I have never had a boosted car before.

BTW to the OP, I know of a Black/Black 6spd BPU+++++ car that may be for sale this Spring in your price range.

Hell ya keep me informed. I have found many stock cars for around 16 to 18k with between 60,000 and 100,000 miles. I have also found a few built single turbo cars for not much more making very good power and the people wanting to just unload them.

  8. A 2jz with simple parts can put down 500-800 with the right tuning. Hell, even a built Toyota auto with a stock block 2jz. The 2jz is one of the few engines that you do not need an aftermarket block or sleeving order to sustain abuse.

Matt Lennen has been 8.89 with a factory Toyota auto:

    http://www.boostlogic.com/blog/2011/10/matt-lennon-resets-supra-stock-auto-record-with-his-boost-logic-transmission/

If I were to spend 20-25k on a fun car, I would consider a 2jz swapped 240. 40 psi in a lightweight car would bonkers.

Ya I have read and seen many people who have put down 800+hp on stock blocks with no problems. The 240 is nice but if I did that I would just ls1 swap due to more availability of motors and other parts. I really like the look of the supra and if I ever did get board with it I could ls7 swap in the future which is what I would do with a c5 too. Who can tune these cars locally?

  9. I am going to be buying a new car here in the spring. What I want is a car I can cruise but also can beat on it and have it hold higher power numbers with some reliability . I for a long time was pretty set on a c5 because I miss my old ls1 car so much but now I have been looking into other rwd platforms that can also be freeway top end beasts. I have been looking into the supras recently and a few other import rwd cars and have found quite a few in my price range which will be around 25k and under. I would rather stay more around 20k to the high teens but if I were to find the right car with the right things done already I would not mind spending some more money on it to get what I want. Any info would be greatly welcomed and ie pros and cons of the car and even other car options as well that I have may looked over.
  10. Look on LS1 tech. You will find almost all you need to know on there. There really are not many changes between a c5 and a c5zo6. Same motor just different heads, cams and a few other things if I am not mistaken. If your going to modd honestly just get a c5 non zo6 because the power numbers will be almost the same once you go big heads and cam. If you want to stay close to stock ie bolt ons the zo6 will get you more power but the car costs alot more. I am heavily considering a c5 purchase in the spring and have been fighting myself on what model I want. If I go with a vette I will get the base c5 instead of the zo6 to save me about an extra 5 to 10k for modds to blow the doors of c6 zo6's

  12. He upgraded to a cougar last nite who was actually really sexy. Good times as prk always does

Ha ha ha those girls look not so good I can see why people were making fun. The one chick does have some big old tiggles though. Now if the cougar is miss germany then ya she is fly for sure... I was very impressed when I got to put a name to a face.

  13. Yeah it wouldn't have mattered if I Brake Boosted, The STI is Stout, But has nothing for the Turbo Z28, It would have been the same outcome with My Old 402 SS:(

What? Now you have a STi.

I am friends with the kid you traded and the 402 is faster than the STI....but yes both would lose to steve. You have to brake noost the shit out of the STI and power shift but it still doesnt have much up top.
Now I have seen a few STi's have plunty up top but the key word is a few.
  14. Fuck no. It's obvious that 79 is what Brice used to be, that's awesome, but in no way shape or form would I drive 30 mi out there to get shit thrown at my car, called the n word or deal with drunk hill billys. If weed is found on Brice no one cares, if your drinking, no one cares. I saw enough burnouts and nice cars that will keep me satisfied. And if I want to go somewhere else it won't take me an hr to get there. I'll be on Brice with the hood rats and hustlers.

I just dont see the fun in standing around and watching cars drive up and down the street honestly. Thats why I will not go out there and I live not to far away.

  15. 270/71/670/315 open 24 hrs a day 7 days a week. Im not paying 20 to get 20 when I can spend 0 to get 20 and that's a 100 percent profit vs a percent that isn't worth my time and seeing as I'm already waisting my time busting you off , that's more than enough charitable time.
yep so true. I think I will be out on a few of these roads tonight.

Keep talking, best feeling if this summer will be busting your ass. Then pull te motor, put it all back to stock and fuck you up even worse next yr
    ha ha ha ha ha
