  1. I go to the Knox county fair every year and I figured that I would pass this information along if anyone else is interested. I went last night to the tractor pulls and I will be going on Wednesday and Thursday as well. It is a really simple drive to get there and takes about 50 minutes (~40 miles) from 270 and 3. Admission is $5. Monday, July 21 7:00 P.M. Demolition Derby Wednesday, July 23 7:00 P.M. Rough Truck Thursday, July 24 7:30 P.M. (Appr.) Figure 8 School Bus Racing
  2. Good luck if you run into any issues shoot me a PM.

  4. LOL, that box was kicking my ass for a while. Solaris just really annoys me. August when and do you know where yet?
  5. I do love VMware! Thorne is definitely a Debian guy and I have always been a RedHat guy but that doesn't mean we don't get along. The Debian repos made network installs quick as shit, it was awesome. Is that that stinking box that I connected the cables on? That was a pain in the ass.
  6. If you have a box with enough RAM try a couple VM's to see what you like the best. VMware Server is free. http://vmware.com/download/server/ Then you can run an already made Linux VM. http://vmware.com/appliances/directory/cat/45
  7. emerge world Walk away and come back many hours later.
  8. If you want, quick and dirty CentOS 5 instructions, just replace the $CAPS variables with your info yum -y install samba groupadd staff useradd -g staff -s /sbin/nologin $USER mkdir /samba mkdir /samba/$SHARE cd /etc/samba/ vi smb.conf workgroup = $WORKGROUP server string = $SERVER directory mask = 0770 create mask = 0770 directory security mask = 0720 security mask = 0720 load printers = no ; cups options = raw printcap name = /etc/printcap printing = [$SHARE] comment = $COMMENT browseable = yes writable = yes valid users = $USER path = /samba/$SHARE smbpasswd -a $USER testparm smb.conf chmod -R 770 /samba chgrp -R staff /samba /etc/init.d/smb restart chkconfig smb on
  9. If you didn't know CentOS = RedHat. The CentOS people just take the RedHat sources and recompile them to make CentOS. Since it is RedHat you can install Oracle, WebLogic, NetBackup, or any other enterprise software on it without having to jump through any hoops. I totally know what you mean. I like to do everything command line so that I actually know what is going on and document it all. For a while now I have been threatening setting up a wiki online and just inviting a few friends to it to start putting documentation together on some of the stuff that I have done. Did you see Linus Torvalds comment about OpenBSD users recently? "Security people are often the black-and-white kind of people that I can't stand. I think the OpenBSD crowd is a bunch of masturbating monkeys, in that they make such a big deal about concentrating on security to the point where they pretty much admit that nothing else matters to them."
  10. LOL Fedora Core 9 is not bad at all and I have never used Mandriva OpenBSD can be pretty hard for some people. Ubuntu is pretty easy but I am prejudiced against it. Do you have any linux experience? All and all I would say to try out Fedora Core 9 or Ubuntu 8.04. I personally use CentOS exclusively at work and we are using it as a file server as well. CentOS is a RedHat clone for those that don't know. Is this a private personal file server or are you going to open it up to internet access?
  11. I am about to take a 1/2 day today and go see it.
  12. I think I just spit half a cup of coffee on my monitor.....

  19. Sorry meant to link this article. http://www.techradar.com/news/gaming/is-the-xbox-360-elite-borked--417560 It was on digg a little while back. http://digg.com/xbox/Is_the_Xbox_360_Elite_borked I know that my neighbor has had his lock up a couple of times.
  20. It appears that the elite's are having the same issues. http://loot-ninja.com/2007/04/29/xbox-360-elite-prone-to-same-problems-as-others I luckily have not had issues with mine and it has seen it's share of playtime, especially CoD4 online.
