The "country" isn't taking your money, the government is and redistributing it. Once again, it astounds me that people(your post proving) see it fit that a middle man (the government) shall take and regulate/redistribute wealth rather than allowing a person donate at their own will. Knowing the way you come off on here, if this was McCain, you'd be all over it; maybe the media too. I think it's sad if any candidate elected not to schedule the anthem in the first place, but when they specifically cancel it, it throws up a red flag; it's apparent that this means there are other priorities to them. Would it really be a problem to just tack on whatever else at the end of the rally?

I'm gonna venture out and say that I don't believe you truly care about the needy. If you did, you'd prefer to keep your money and deliver it and your helping hand personally to those you want to help. No, you don't feel compelled to help others, you see a tax and assume you must pay and that it is being distributed fairly to all those in need.

You don't get it. Humans SHOULD help others, when they can. That does not mean someone else should force you to, nor should they determine where your money goes. What meaning does it have when you gain others' tax money rather than having someone else literally lend a helping hand?
