  1. Nobody on ski patrol there makes any money, it's all volunteer. Your friend is either an idiot or lying, but probably both.

Ski patrol anywhere is basically a losing proportion from a cost/pay standpoint. Ski Patrols all over the west have been fighting with companies (Vail mostly?) over pay. These people can out-ski most people on the planet with a toboggan behind them, have life saving skills and often some other third significant skill like avalanche control using explosives or munitions. One place out there is fighting for starting pay of $17/hr and the company offered $15/hr. All of that skill for $15/hr in a place where $1million might get you a shack.

All of those places out west treat their workers like trash. I had a few friends move out there to work the resorts after high school and they spent so much time working 2-3 jobs to pay rent they barely got to use their ski passes you get for wrong there. They would basically get in an hour worth of ski time a day.

  3. When picking home defense, always take into consideration your style of home. If a shot misees it's intended target, where is it going?

I haven't kept up with bullet technology the past 5 years but .223 slowed down quicker than 9mm did when going through walls. If this still holds true I'd be looking at an AR in 223/556 over a 9mm.

  4. Girlfriend wants a new laptop. She is pretty sure she wants a dell latitude with a 15" screen. She's looking at the Dell 5520 currently.

She needs to be able to run a second monitor while on zoom or whatever other video call service she might use and run excel and browse.

I don't want to buy something that's overkill.

    Any suggestions.

  6. I heard the price on birds was going up. My club had to increase prices on rounds of trap. Would love to come out again and see if I could do better (couldn't do much worse). Unfortunately I'm busy with a home brewing competition that day. Maybe next time.

Yeah, our prices have started the same for birds but at this club, non members pay a 14 dollar fee and 36 cents a bird.

I am curious now if cardinal has upped their prices. Registered shoots haven't changed this year price wise

  7. I posted this up last time and got some interest so I'll post again. I'll be going to practice next Sunday and the following weekend. If anyone is interested in coming or even giving it a try for their first time you're more than welcome to come give it a shot.

Non member pricing is 50 dollars for 100 birds plus shells. I'll be going to Eagles Nest which is 11 miles north of Cardinal Center.

  8. That's a lot of vehicle and nice looking !

Do you need a cdl of some type to drive it or can any bozo attempt to navigate it.

    I drove a 30-32 ft (I don't remember which) box truck and didn't.

CDL isn't required for personal recreation vehicles. This thing probably drives like a larger pickup with the wheel base it has.

  9. Is there a book or a recommendation for someone to talk to so I can get a better understanding of how I should be prioritizing my personal financial goals?

My current goal is to obtain %20 for a house down payment but, I don't know how to prioritize how I save that money vs. what I put into my Roth IRA and my investment account and what I keep on hand in savings past my 6 month safety net.

  10. There's a new bottle lottery coming in a few days that no one we know will win..well my son knows a guy that won one...so that is one of how many?????

I won a Weller 12 in the last one.

  11. i love shooting sporting clays, though I've only done it once and none of my friends seem interested in doing it locally. Had it been any other weekend i would be down (so long as wife and baby are good) but we've got a lot of family stuff going on. If you decide to plan a day in the future let me know.

Mojoe will vouch that I won't shoot my own foot off at least.

We can try to get another one together sometime, we ended up making plans to go to Medina this weekend anyhow.
