  1. Same sites with some knowledge. Kawasaki does a lot of inbreeding with their clutches. I put heavier springs in my 12r by using 6r springs. The 6r uses four heavy ones and the 12r uses six medium ones so I swapped out three of the six for more holding power. Go to kawiforums.com and ask around for some suggestions.
  2. Easy to install, just make sure you have the correct stack height. They usually give you extra steels/fibers in the kit so don't put them all in!

About $100. I usually buy from ronayers.com they have the online fiche and great prices on OEM.

Also make sure your cable is adjusted right and allows the clutch to fully engage before you call the old one toast. Should have a little (2-3 mm) freeplay in the lever before it starts pulling on the cable.

  3. Try changing the oil and using Amsoil then see if it gets better. It could be something you have to live with but I've seen it get a lot better with the right oil. Also get your idle as low as possible without causing it to die.
  4. Seriously if you want a "beginner" bike, look for a used sportbike and ride it for at least a year. Look for something like an SV-650 (Suzuki), or an older carbed Ninja 600, carbed R6, or a Honda F3, F4, or F4i. If you buy it right, you will learn a lot on those bikes and be able to sell them without loosing a cent, try that with a new anything.
  5. Excellent event. Special thanks to Anthony and Chris for taking the leadership role on this. I was glad to help out some so you guys could enjoy your day too.

I called it a day early due to violent wheel spin at half track. I think it was due to something on the track because I was hooking great on the starting line.

  6. Things have changed a lot with bikes over the years. It used to be 15000 was pretty high but they've made huge strides over the last 20 years and a sportbike with 40,000 can still be extremely dependable. It may need some TLC but it will run for a long time to come. Goldwings, BMWs, Harleys, and other touring bikes can go 100,000 easy.

What is your price range and what are you wanting to do with the bike?

  7. My friends and I go down there a lot and we made are last trip in the heart of the enforcement effort. My one friend made Killboy's frontpage dragging his knee. Some things to know:

    1. This is a special effort and the local departments got a state grant to step up efforts. That money will be gone and things will return to normal.

    2. Try to go during the week, the road is dead including no cops and you can really fly.

    3. If you have to go on the weekend, hit it early (7am) in the morning and then don't come back until 3-4 pm (shift change). We watched all 14 cops parade out of the gap and 1 even stopped to tell us it was shift change and they would be back in an hour. We ripped it up for an hour and left.

    4. Talk to the locals, they will give you the scoop on where the cops are.

    5. Ride the other roads around there, many of them are more fun.

    6. Your first ticket for the year in Blount County (Tennessee side) is only $10 unless you try to run.

    7. Don't accelerate in the straights, you are there to ride corners, use the straights to relax and plan for the next tight section. The cops love to sit in the straights because they can get much bigger tickets there.

  8. I can bring my extra two piece leathers and a pair of Kevlar padded jeans if a biker needs some gear. This is only going to affect a few people so with a little teamwork, we can get through it. I totally support the rules and would be more strict if this were my event but I respect the decisions of those in charge.
  9. Sorry, didn't intend to pee on your cheerios and I wasn't trying to undercut your price. I don't know much about Wilson but usually don't hear much good about Rock River Arms. I know the post-ban Bushmaster I had shot very well and I sold it for $950 no problem.
  10. The Busa is the 5.0 Liter Mustang of bikes. There is a huge aftermarket support for them and the sky is the limit but it's all be done to death. It's a rock solid engine and in stock form ride very well on the street.

If you banged yourself up on pedal bikes, how'd it happen and what did you enjoy about biking? That may tell you more about what type of bike to buy that pictures in a magazine. If you liked to stunt a pedal pusher, you'll probably want to stunt one with an engine and I'd look elsewhere than a 'busa. If you were a mountain biker, look at a DL-1000 Zuki.

Is the Busa the king of the streets? In stock form it will get beat by handful of others. In modded form, it's the cheapest to go all out on.

  11. I have a Walther PPK (.380) I'm looking to sell. It a "1 of 400" special edition thing though and I'd like $500 for it. It's a great shooter, but I don't know that I'd carry it; you can get cheaper PPKs.

Not to threadjack but I also have an unfired pre-ban AR-15 (Bushmaster) with two magazines for $1000.
