  1. Hello, I currently have two towing companies that I use to have vehicles towed into the shop. I'm looking for more companies and potentially a better price/tow or at least quicker response. I would like to break down all of Columbus into regions and have different towing companies for each reason. If you work for or own a towing company or know anyone that would interested give me a call at (614)625-7296. I'm in the shop Monday-Saturday 9-7. Thanks!
  2. Hello, my name is Brent and I own NW Automotive. I've been in business for 4 years located just outside of Dublin. I'm looking to hire 2-3 more technicians at $20/labor hour. At NW Automotive we do pretty much everything from basic maintenance to engine/transmission replacements/builds as well as performance builds. I'm looking for technicians that are able to work 40+ hours per week. We have currently outgrown our shop and are looking to move to a much larger space by March but we need more qualified technicians before we even consider it. If you are interested at all please feel free to call/text me at (614)625-7296, by email at nwautosol@gmail.com or respond by PM on here. Thanks.
  3. I would rather take the $10,000 and build two 10 second turbo 5.3 cars and still have beer money left over than build what they consider a freshen up build for $10,000 just to have it sitting on an engine stand while I buy a car to put it in. But damn does that ls3 curve look good.
  4. I know it's a little late but last week there was a rolled over red mustang on the sawmill rd to 270 west ramp. :dumb:
  5. I was at 717whp for about a year on a stock gsr trans. I broke axles like it was my job but the trans never had issues.
  6. What I find incredible is the first time I ever went to a drag strip I saw a car that ran in the high 7's. It sounded like a top fuel car, looked like a pro mod and only made one clean run the whole night. The fact that that car did what it did so effortlessly impresses the hell out of me.
  7. Just a quick update. I returned the 3/8 dewalt and kept the impact driver and I serially have been using it every day. It makes simple things so much easier. Thanks for all the feedback!
  8. If this doesn't sell soon I will buy. Would you consider any trades for running daily drivers?
  9. The main difference is the impact driver not only impacts to loosen or tighten but it also pushes into the bit similar to a hammer drill. That is why they are nice for construction since you don't have to push into them very hard to have the bit not cam out of a phillips screw. The impact is just a weaker version of a 1/2 inch impact. It has a standard 3/8 socket anvil and works like every impact wrench out there. I picked up both last night and did a little comparison on a few things at work so far. They both seem to have just about the same power but I'm going to be returning the 3/8 impact. For the size it's just not strong enough. The 1/4" driver on the other hand is truly a great little tool to have. I already used it on a heater core this morning and I have to say I wish I bought one years ago. Thanks for all the feedback guys!
  10. From what I've been told and read anything under 18v is for light use only. Also anything with nicad is essentially outdated. I just picked up a dewalt 20v 1/4" impact. I'll take it to the shop tomorrow and see what I can do with it. Thanks for all the feedback!
  11. Well damn, I guess I'll get one. I've been doing so many tune ups and heater cores lately and I feel like it'd help tremendously for those things. Do you have the 3/8 or the 1/4 inch? I'm wanting the 1/4 inch now mainly because of being able to use my little mac set of 1/4 inch wobble impact sockets that I've had sitting in my overflow drawer lol.
  12. Does it being a 1/4 inch chuck make it easier for doing interior or tight engine bay work? I feel like I would use it on every speaker/heater core replacement as well as pretty much every bolt in the engine bay but the crank pulley. But have you ever tried using it on brake caliper bolts? If so I might pick one up tonight on the way home from the shop. I'm just worried It will have so little power that it struggles to remove something as simple as a door hinge bolt or air box bolt. Thanks for the replies!
  13. Yes and I love it. It's a little bulky but it is great. I also have an old and bulky 3/8 ingersoll along with 2 or 3 1/4 ratchets. I've just spent the past hour or so trying to find out why people seem to like the 1/4 inch impact drivers so much. So many people seem to say it's their "most used too" I just don't see how. But maybe that's because I don't have one lol.
  14. Nice to see Potatoes are still able to find work in 2016.
  15. I've been trying to figure out what to spend the Sears gift card that I got for Christmas. I have pretty much everything I need at the shop now that costs less than $500 or so it seems. I've decided to get a small electric impact I can use in tight spots and to remove pretty much everything but lug nuts, crank pulley and suspension bolts. I use my pneumatic impacts for that. The options are the brushless Milwaukee, Dewalt and Makita 18/20v impacts. I've been looking into them quite a bit but I haven't really understood the point of having one except for a few occasions. But since I have the gift card already I'm really thinking about getting one. But now I need to figure out if I want the 1/4 inch impact driver or 3/8 impact wrench. If anyone owns any of these please lmk what you think and what you would recommend. I do all kinds of work on cars and would like to know what everyone thinks would be the best money spent. I understand that the driver is primarily for construction and non automotive work but damn near every mechanic I know has one. Also I understand the difference between the two. The driver impacts forward and to tighten/loosen. The wrench would just be a weaker version of what I already have. As is I have a Dewalt DCF899 for when I go to the junkyard. It busts lug nuts, axles nuts and crank pulley bolts loose every time. I also have 3 pneumatic Ingersoll 1/2 inch impacts that do most of the work plus a 3/4 inch for iffy nuts/bolts. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  16. Wow, I'm impressed with the responses. I have to agree it's just a day by day thing because when my friends and I go we get consistent 33's. But I didn't go one time and they are all getting 30's. I blame Obama. But seriously, I'll try Buckeye out again. It was fun and I have only ever raced 2 or 3 times when I go there. At GP I stay the entire day trying to get the lowest lap time of the month. Thanks for all the legitimate posts.
  17. Are either still available? I'm looking for a bigger fridge for the shop. Thanks!
  18. I've been there a few times, it's fun but too slow and usually too many kids and/or very slow people. Plus I prefer gasoline karts.
  19. I just looked through the times online again and the only thing I can think of is on the faster laps hes running with faster people which would allow him to go all out the entire time. I don't know if I have ever had one clean lap with warm tires now that I think about it lol.
  20. I'm posting to figure out if anyone knows if they do something to the karts or the track on certain days to let you pick up 3-4 seconds. I've gone quite a bit and when I go I consistently get 1st on each heat and second behind one guy that seems to hold the fastest lap time every weekend. I was 0.04 behind his time a few weeks back. But then the next week he runs 4 seconds faster on the same track. I wasn't there so I'm not sure if the track was changed or what but I honestly don't know how I could pick up half a second let alone 4 whole seconds. If you read all that thanks, if you answered the question thanks again!
  21. The worst part is the guy with 3 first names caused it by trying so hard instead of lifting. There have been so many close calls on the show and his luck just ran out. Now it's just the nova and doc. I hope someone builds a fast car so the list isn't as sad as it is now.
  22. I'm trying to get my brothers car going. He has had one thing after another. I'm needing an obd1 PR4-A61 ECU in working condition. First one I find and can get I will buy. Thanks.
  23. I can't remember now. I think it was in the $1.xx range. I sent out a bunch of scrap and about 70 rotors and got paid $161.
  24. I gave them a call. It'd be worth it once I get a decent amount. It wouldn't be cost efficient to do it once a month though. I'll save the info though. Thanks.
