Congrats man. Called it.

What about just a color change on the current wheels? Doing what I do I've seen a lot of wheels totally change the whole look of a car just from that.

Looking for Audi engine... 2.7T Who to talk to?
Patterson replied to IVRINGS's topic in Passing Lane
Haha, I've had it for a while, but its a B3 quattro with a wicked rod knock. A 7a would be fun but nearly made of unobtanium. A VR is uber cool, but bloody expensive to swap in after you buy the special starter, adapter, and clutch, and a rebuilt NG while it sounds cool is dog slow, and boring to drive. -

So are you waiting for the 1.8 to blow up, then swap? Or will you pull a running motor? Reason I ask is the 1.8 will bolt right up to my trans with no adapters, and if the price is right I'd buy it. That swap would be scads easier and cheaper than a vr+ the trans adapter and clutch from 034. -
Congrats. Name change then?

Don't be hating on Billy. Billy is a god.

The hold up? I'm just not into it like I thought I'd be. And well honestly it was presented as a slam dunk to finish. It's not. Maybe for somebody with nothing better to do, but that's not me. Don't worry Gape. 4/15/11 deadline still stands.

It sucks, but I can't bring myself up to it. I hate quitting on anything. This'll be one I won't have second thoughts on.

Ya know what? I'm not building this car. F-it. Honestly, it has left such a bad taste in my mouth. I get the whole buying used is buying somebody else's problems. After nearly 90 cars since age 16 I've been through it a few times. I really didn't want to do an engine build. Didn't think/hoped I wouldn't have to do one on this car. The question has been raised for months since coining the phrase "I'm gonna Butt-F*** you in the mouth." How does one do this? I finally have an answer. Buy a DSM. Wanna go for the money shot as well? Buy one that is broken to boot. I've had a pretty good streak for buying cars the last few years. This piece of Automotive Assholery broke it. So in lieu of this particular grouping of gramatical fuckall, I will post a stupidly low priced F/S thread tonight for everything DSM I own. However, I want to keep the thread open for the replacement. The Patter$on does abide, just not to the dsmgods creedo of 2 weeks of running good and three years of frustration. Leave that for the 20-25 year olds.

I miss my Mk3. Sechsy as always.

Is that you on the bottom Gape?

So I tore the motor down tonight. What fun. Typical dirty nasty not taken care of DSM motor. 90K on this motor I highly doubt it. Onto the badness. Pulley side of Thrust Bearing http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w351/Pats16Valve/Picture264.jpg Flywheel side http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w351/Pats16Valve/Picture263.jpg The proposed culprit to the Crank Walk issue. http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w351/Pats16Valve/Picture258.jpg Clogged/Mis-designed piston squirters. These are getting plugged, problem solved. Clean bores. Should be able to get away with a quick hone. http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w351/Pats16Valve/Picture260.jpg Ack! Me's thinks this thing was running a bit rich. http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w351/Pats16Valve/Picture247.jpg This will fix it all... http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w351/Pats16Valve/Picture265.jpg

I just did a quickie Autotrader search. F-that. No Evo's, and every WRX was beat to hell high mileage stuff. My revised picks. MS3, or the Aforementioned Bimmer and Audi. FTW
-
What about a WRX? Or dare I say Evo? Then again they'd be beat to hell.

After my new car search and having similar choices, I'd say go with the MS3, or the LGT. I would lean towards the Mazda. After buying the 6 I have to say I'm impressed with Mazda. While not a speed its still a nice car. When I go shopping in a year or so I'll be looking heavily at the Speed 3 for myself.

Finally got to pull the lump form the nose yesterday, took about two and a half hours. Here are some pics. Many of you have been to my garage, and have witnessed to mess that is usually there. I cant remember the last time I have had a car actually in there. Still didn't fit all the way. http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w351/Pats16Valve/Picture215-1.jpg This is where we started. http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w351/Pats16Valve/Picture216-1.jpg Lulz, I think thats not where that goes. I could be wrong though... http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w351/Pats16Valve/Picture221.jpg Wrestled with the axles way too long, but finally got it hooked up. http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w351/Pats16Valve/Picture225.jpg Greasy goodness http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w351/Pats16Valve/Picture227.jpg Up and out, still greasy... http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w351/Pats16Valve/Picture229.jpg Water cooled trans? Tranny was full of water. Guess I will be tearing into that too.. http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w351/Pats16Valve/Picture232.jpg Aftermarket clutch, and flywheel no miles. http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w351/Pats16Valve/Picture233.jpg http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w351/Pats16Valve/Picture234.jpg Yes I do occasionally work on my own stuff... http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w351/Pats16Valve/Picture223.jpg http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w351/Pats16Valve/Picture237.jpg And just to check for the sake of checking since everybody is dying to know.Crank End-play. Checked it four times just to be sure and got anywhere from .007"-.015". Not horrible, but hosed either way. This is the threshold before it eats itself alive. I have yet to tear it down the rest of the way to see if it did or not already. But in my book this one's done. Off to the machine shop it goes...
