  7. Andy, so true. Maybe we could have a contest and see who takes longer (in years) to complete their car, haha. Thanks for the comments everyone. Should have some more updates this weekend.
  8. good question. according to Poorboys they recommend 2 or even 3 coats for better results. for a wax, there generally are diminishing returns for multiple coats, but apparently more coats = better for this stuff. To test that out my method was as follows -- On the outside spokes: 1 wheel got 1 coat, 2 wheels got 2 coats, and the 4th wheel got 3 coats. (the inner barrels got 2 coats.) So I will see over the course of the summer and fall how it goes.. but yes 1 coat should be fine for most uses. That is all I apply when doing a typical detail job.
  9. I know that garage from seeing Addison's detailing photos.
  10. Yes it will be washed before every time I work on it. Hopefully it will be 95% done by end of August -- but I will be always testing stuff on it, etc. so that will be ongoing through next year and beyond.
  11. As posted in another thread, for the wheels I did multiple coats of Poorboys Wheel Sealant. About a month later it is holding up nicely. Definitely makes cleaning a lot easier and the multiple coats were worth it. I will using this through next year and transitioning to a glass coating which should last a lot longer.
  12. This thread will be used to update the detailing progress of my Z06. Depending on my schedule this may take several months and may not be completed until Summer 2013. I have planned it out and it will take over 40 hours. Overview shot from IPS: Close-up of the wheels: -------------------------------------- Part I: Rear end/tail lights Aside from the many deep swirls and scuffs in the car from the previous owner, the one aspect that has been driving me crazy is the grime on the rear of the car. I wanted to address that first. Built-up grime around the emblem: Lights need some love: Emblem and one light off. Clayed, and hand-polished around the inner circles to remove the grime. Cleaned wires and connectors. Scratches After 2 stages of polishing. (Sealant in the pic but I actually used Sonax Wax) Tough to see, but the light on the right is complete. it has much more depth, clarity, and gloss: Complete: Next up... dealing with this.. Taped and ready to go I just did some spot-testing and played around with Sonax Perfect finish. So no major correction yet. More to come on that later...
