o ok didnt know it was the wiring harness that was different. speaking of eating pistons, heres a piston that came out of a 99 ta i worked on. poor thing only had 60000 miles. shows what happens when you dont take care of your shit. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b200/dragcamaro/car/WS6/0830081049-00.jpg

thanks guys im actually trying to sell the ls1 car, i have too many projects going on that i need to get rid of something. but i will probably be rolling around in a f body, im trying to find a v6 with the y87 package but idk how thats gonna go. im trying to get one to set up for auto x.
-
just not as good of a starting point, the computer system is a little less sophisticated, the had a worse flowing head with perimeter bolts on the valvecovers, and the oil passageway was slightly different. it was just a first year car, it had some flaws. if you want a f-body 2001-02 is the best setup stop in my opinon, but if you modify heavily it doesnt really matter. 01-02s had no egr (LS6 intake) and a better exhaust setup but... if you want to put the cash out the vette would probably be the better way to go, as mentioned earlier, if you want a cheap drag car, get the f body, but the vette will be the better handling car

haha you had me going for a second that sucked about his shop, he had a nasty looking 78 mabe bird. i think he was one of the first boosted ls1s as well (not the formy but another f body he had)

it in the beginning stood for and impala. as the impala logo seemed to many to resemble a donkey donk is short for donkey. now it has been basically applied to any candy painted hooptie with big wheels and a lift

id go with the 02 out of those, i like the allison tranny. my friend has an 04 duramax with the allison, and its great. i like it much better than either of the powerstrokes my other friend has(08 and 97). ive never heard much bad about the allisons at all, and the duramax has been a great engine.

hey darkformula, have you saw this car before, i always thought the setup was pretty wild http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/turbols1/TurboFormulaRear2small.jpg

thanks for the welcome guys. theres some pretty badass cars here

thanks guys ^btw nice work on hopping up a 3.8 f body. ive always liked that engine, just never put anything into one, theres a lot of potential in them. i started on a project to adapt an m90 onto one, but i ended up selling the car first. i aughta try and dig that back out. i had it all machined out and ported, i just needed to reweld the inlet back on

haha nice what series? ive got a customer with a 99 TA that were putting a forged iron 427 in with an F1A whenever he brings me more cash
-
haha yea i slave my ass off on the regular for it. luckly i work at a garage so my work is free and parts are cheaper whats done to that formula? im guessing supercharger since it has dual exhaust?
-
ive got a scanmaster, thats it right now. i dont have it completely legal yet, its been sitting in the garage most of the time getting fixed. ive honestly not fixed the cam yet either, the parts are sitting there, i just havent had time to put it all in. its making some rediculous noise, it will throw all the KR it can at it when your cruising because of that lifter. id love to do something like that in a camaro, but those ls engines are too sweet to pass up. ive got a lq4 6.0 in the garage that was going to go into the maroon camaro in my first post along with a turbo, but i bought the GN instead
-
yea i called the past owner a retard and couldnt even spell owned haha it may be, it had a lot of atr stuff on it. it had an atr front bumper too at one time, until the tranny went out on the past owner. he figured the fiberglass would be strong enough to tow by i guess. needless to say its not on there anymore
-
i honestly dont know, its a 3in external gate, but look in my picture at how the gate sits, i havent saw one like that, the gate sticks up on it not forward like in most others ive saw. its got ATR headers on it supposidely, i thnk theyre knock offs. like i said the cars got problems, i got a pretty good deal on it though so i still think its worth it. i only paid $6000 for the car. 90k miles and the interior is perfect except the seat brackets got gangsta lean
-
haha thats great. was $500 the turbo setup and all? it does though, its leaking terrible around the bottom, the area around the turbo isnt leaking but im leaking out of the area where my external wastegate pipe meets up to it thanks for the welcome guys
-
yea im hoping. first runs will probably be at national trail next year if anyone wants to come watch
-
thats what im hoping. its got ET streets on it now so it aughta hook. the guy that oned it before me was a retard. there wasnt even a gasket on the downpipe. he gapped the plugs to .015 as well... idk why. right now the money im putting into the car is just fixing the other guys mistakes haha. im going to take it off the frame in january since its missing half the body bushings (bolt rusted out or just rotted and gone) and fix all his screw ups in the engine. you should have saw the oil pan gasket. he had it so tight it broke into 3 pieces.

i can build my own tranny, it had a th400 when i bought it. second went out on the factory 200 which is sitting in my garage ripped apart. it will go back in in due time thanks guys mark

Hey everyone, im mark. im living in charleston WV right now but im moving to columbus this fall to go to OSU. I was wanting to join up here to meet some people and see what the automotive scene in columbus was like, cause it kinda sucks down here. ive got a few rides, most are work-in-progress my baby is my 1986 grand national. its got je forged pistons, te44 turbo, a th400 tranny, ported heads and intake, and a 212/212 cam just to name a little of what its got done. im getting pretty anxious to take it to the track, the guy that owned it before me ran a 12.94@112 with a 2.4 sixty foot... which is pretty weak. that was also before i put a new cam in it (it destroyed the lobe and lifter on cylinder#3) fixed the brakes (it wouldnt build any boost on the line) fixed both motor mounts and soon im going to rebuild the tranny and hopefully add alcohol injection, id like to have it in mid-high 11s with alky and this turbo. heres some pics http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b200/dragcamaro/car/Grand%20National/P1010136.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b200/dragcamaro/car/Grand%20National/P1010135.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b200/dragcamaro/car/Grand%20National/P1010131.jpg and this is my 2000 z28 DD http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b200/dragcamaro/car/Project%20Candy%20Cane/0806081529-00.jpg it looks purple but its really a dark red This is my drag car project as it sits now, my dad and i plan to run A/SA when we get it done. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b200/dragcamaro/car/Drag%20Car/1010081606-01.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b200/dragcamaro/car/Drag%20Car/1010081606-03.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b200/dragcamaro/car/Drag%20Car/1010081607-00.jpg since the pictures weve got afco shocks and springs on its, the underside is painted and all the suspension work has been painted. Thats basically my life story haha. my family has always owned an shop so weve always been working on something. thanks, Mark
