  1. roger that ill be back in september for a lil bit... after that... the next nine months should fly!
  2. then our LT is a retard... he's submitted paperwork on six of us for multiples. just wavered for my specialist, yes. so technically, the cab woulda bee non the first contact i had, in june. either way... im sure you know a thing or two about wanting to spend your deployment money how you see fit
  3. yeah... try having a 7.62 riochet off your kevlar while you're attempting to move wounded IPs. it doesnt have to be every day... but people who've never been here wouldnt understand that it only takes one. i've seen more than my share of EFPs, IEDs, IRLs, SVBIEDs, SVests... etc. i've barely been here 80 days, and have earned 4 CABs. i dont know how you guys had it... but here... they hate infantry... and y'all get it worse than we do. so... you should have some clue of the amount of contact we STILL get in this shit hole. and perhaps i bought a bike planning NOT to replace it. i didnt buy it as a "starter". i bought it as exactly the bike i wanted. im modding it to look and perform how i want it to. like i said... i know my times @ mcir... so im plenty pleased w/ it for now
  4. im in northern iraq, shot @ twice in Bayji, once in Kirkuk, and 3 times in Mosul since june. they're really not fond of the new security agreement. i dont buy a 750 or 1k, because i dont like them. i bought the 6 new in '07... paid it off in 8 months... because i've owned a couple 6s, a 750, a 929, and a 1k... and worked on/ridden most anything else. i personally like the size, the weight, and the power. its not totally stock either... i had it a bit more built, but sold parts to settle my dad's debts before i enlisted. im in the process of getting it back to where it was. ive been on two wheels longer than most people twice my age... its not about being afraid of larger bikes... because ive owned them before. i just happened to find something i enjoyed, that i could build and have plenty of fun with. theres no point in trying to "help me save money"... because im notorious for doin whatever i feel like doing w/ money ive earned. btw... as it sat a little over a year ago... i walked several "big kid bikes". so im pretty sure once im finished, it'll be plenty fast enough again. my best friend's 1000rr still has yet to beat me in the 1/4... so i have no complaints. if i get upset w/ my power... i'll go ahead and get into internals... get my buddy to remap it how it was, and run it on 108 again. small engines can make big numbers too... dont forget that
  5. you act like that matters. apparently you've got the "bigger engine" mentality. im a 5'7, 150 pound guy. this bike is perfect for me. i dont need a busa. i grew up racing, and ride what im comfortable on. i hate busas, owned a 929, didnt like it, disliked riding most all 1000s. its fine for me. its not like its your money. im the one getting shot at every day... so im pretty sure your opinion of what i spend my deployment money on means absolutely shit
  6. i'd go for it. it runs, low miles... not too much power... sounds worth-while
  7. yes. mostly started because im tired of seeing blue & white k7 600s... then i just got a lil carried away. wanted to replace everything white on the bike... but kept finding more stuff i wanted. gotta spend the deployment money on something if i was really worried about trying to make it a ton lighter... i woulda stuck w/ the 3-piece cf race fairings i originally picked. this helps retain factory functionality
  8. decent starter bikes. dont beat on it too much... bunch of my buddies are on their 2nd-3rd engines after a few years of ownership
  9. ive never owned anything under a 600 (though i started on bikes @ 5 years old). still though... even my CRF450F doesnt hold a candle to my gixxxer 600. like stated many times already... its all about how you ride. if you're fearless... bad things tend to happen. ive never had any of my 600s down, and i will prolly never "upgrade" because i found a bike thats the perfect size for me (small guy). plus... a 600 can be modded and tuned to run w/ almost all of the big bikes... so i've just stuck w/ modding it if i get bored of it. but, every once in a while the bike gods will have it come down off a wheelie wrong, or speed wobble, or whatever... and you'll be reminded real quick how fast that little burp of the throttle can = pavement vs. flesh. as a new rider... you'll respect that bike the first time you ride it... and hopefully you'll be smart enough not to abuse it.

  11. well... i went & ordered all my parts... hopefully they'll beat me back from this god-forsaken place. when i get home in september... i'll be spending a day or so in the garage, putting everything on. hopefully... it all goes well, and i can have it tuned relatively quickly. not pictured are the power commander 3, HID kit, CF/titanium exhaust (already on the bike), and Velocity Stacks, windscreen, cf tank protector, & spike windscreen bolts. heres what ive got either sitting waiting or on the way... 12. shes an '07 Gixxxer 6. love her to death (mostly because shes paid off). totally stock in this pic... but i've added a titanium/cf slip-on, and ive got about $2000 worth of carbon fiber body panels, and smoked windscreen, signals, and tail light sitting @ home waiting for me to get there. power commander 3 is on the way, along w/ HID kit, and 520 conversion (blue sprocket & chain). lets not forget the windscreen spikes http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l123/delsol161/thebike.jpg
  13. not a problem... somebody's gotta do it
  14. yeah... it was -10 that morning... last time i went up that way, into the mountains... it was colder than -20. there was NO mud or water... just 3 feet of snow. we really wouldnt have gone far if it werent for the big trucks plowing the way
  15. i honestly couldnt tell you. ive pretty much forgotten most of what happened that long ago. all i know is i was banned or something for calling him out on it
