  1. I need some advice. Amongst other things that need love on the supra, the clutch has been a real pita. It engages harshly (grabs in a weird way) when slipping it in gear on a casual drive, the pedal pressure is way higher then it should be and unless you are very sensitive with the clutch position in relation to the throttle it will almost always hesitate to engage and then do so very harshly. It's an RPS max pressure plate, RPS street disc and oem flywheel. The previous owner drag raced the piss out of the car and now everything from blown shocks to front rotors to head gasket's need attention. On an invoice from IPS motorsports (where the previous owner had a new shortblock installed), there are comments in the actual invoice stating: "Clutch disc hot-spotted -- reusable but def not perfect". I talked to my local mechanic whom I've known for years and he told me the only part of a clutch assembly that can be salvaged from hotspotting is resurfacing the flywheel. Doing so with a clutch disc or pressure plate will cause a clearance that will lower the torque capacity or just not engage altogether. I have also heard about the problems that RPS has had with some clutch kits failing prematurely and exhibiting such characteristics as I described. Synopsis, would it be a bad idea/would it even be possible to "reuse" the clutch disc and do something with the pressure plate? Could anyone confirm this as being a faulty product from RPS? I will be at BPU levels for about another year or so and I wasn't planning on getting an APU clutch until it was needed so I'm a little confused between what IPS said on the invoice and what my mechanic told me. Sorry for the long read, wanted to cover the details. I'd appreciate any words from anyone at IPS, although I doubt they will remember specifically the issue, but for good measure the invoice number is 2809 (late june/07).
  2. was it silver with a whiny exhaust 04-05 body? if so he just pipe checked me too, going the opposite way on a 2lane residential road
  3. thats insane!!! it worries me that you say it needed dent wizard and repainting because it definitely doesn't need it now, how long ago was this assessment? I was told it still has the original paint, all the body part numbers match. I have to say though, i'm not sure if it was doug or maybe denny but the car needs a lot of work now. It has a very solid structure, the body is in great shape, I just got some oem touch-up paint and have been touching up some minuscule rock chips and such but otherwise it looks amazing after a wax. however, it's a shame he didnt take as good care of it as you, even after the shortblock was done it still smokes, he didnt take the time to get the head done and now I have a water pump and some other shit to do to the head. the coilovers are also fubar, the clutch engages very harshly (hot spotted disc, maybe warped pressure plate) and the front rotors are almost completely done for. I would've hoped for someone to be a little better of a supra owner but this is also my dream car so giving it the love it needs is no problem for me. sorry to keep making this post longer but i have a lot of questions, what made the bottom end go bad? also would you have any idea why my injectors are at 100% cycle with a measly 16psi? I had it dyno tuned and they actually had to lower the boost down from 19 because past 16 it was leaning out. I guess this could have something to do with the head gasket going on its way out, but I'm not entirely sure. It still has oem fueling. what parts for it do you still have? I would LOVE an extra pair of keys if there would be anyway I could score them off of you. I live right around where king ave meets high street, a few minutes from osu campus. oh yea! it's all coming to me now, I had a folder of the maintenance done on the car and kept seeing receipts for a chiropractics office. is there anything else worth knowing that you could tell me about it? very interested thanks!

  5. I'm right under $100/mo on the Supra with two priors, both over 15mph with Geico. They have awesome customer service and coverage. The cost was also less then an equivalent policy from Nationwide, State Farm, Progressive or Allstate.
  6. thankssss, any luck with the c5 yet?
  7. weeeeoooooooooooooooow (sorry that was uncalled for)
  8. :confused::confused:oblivious smiley is oblivious:confused:
  9. thanks!! jeez, with an 83 corolla i'm guessing you're talking in the third person?
  10. very sexy, that sounds like an extremely conservative tune for the work you have, i'm guessing way low boost and pump gas?? I made 410 at 17psi and race gas with the stock twins. I'll try to creep out for the meet but I may be stuck parking cars for the night
  11. McNasty, tell me about your supra. Are there any other mkiv owners on here??
  12. At a random point in the unknown future, I'm going to call you and be extra-shifty.
  13. You're thinking of 4chan.
  14. agreed, sometimes the chrome one's on 97/98s can pull it off with a color like RSP or something but meh. also thank you for the rep whoever it was /bow
  15. you meant the stockers or the different one's he had on the rear for some reason? I'm kind've ok with the stockers for now but bronze te37's are definitely where my attention is at. (or maybe some sexy bbs/ccw)
  16. eh, i'm semi-reluctant to say. valet's succumb to a lot of hazing >_>
  17. Ok ok, I found some on the previous owners myspace, the car looks the same now but with stock rims plus a sound system that I had put in. I'm not sure if direct links are ok, so please forgive me. http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/120/l_65c082d2f6c9f4f60f1447537b84afcb.jpg http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/114/l_c20f1620aa23f335a76d8e5b413c6b2c.jpg
  18. terribly sorry but I lost the majority of my pictures after a hard drive failure a few months ago. No trust fund baby, I had the STI paid off and took a small loan for the supra which i am now paying off one Benjamin at a time. the STI was pretty close to stock, some supporting mods to allow for higher boost but that was about it. i bought the supra with a lot of bpu mods on it but some work is underway. I ordered bilstein HD shocks, next up is 500lb/250lb hyperco springs and bilstein sleeves to mount it all. Then I'm renewing the brakes with oem tt rotors and stainless lines all around. The clutch needs some lovin as the pressure plate is pretty warped, I'll try to have it and the flywheel resurfaced but I may need a TRD street disc to be safe. Hope that expanded enough! oh and mass love for the boxers
  19. Hi everyone, i moved to Columbus from predominantly living in dayton and had a stage iii Jetta GLI, from there I moved to a 05 STI. I moved to columbus in the fall of 2008 and about four months ago traded the STI for a 93.5 TT 6sp BPU+ supra. I work as a valet on high street in the short north district and have seen some pretty nice cars floating around the area so I figured I would be in good company.
