What can I pull a t10 bellhousing out of? Is that what's in the s10s and blazers, because I looked at a few in the junk yard and the trannys themselfs look way differnt that the t5 and had no id tag on the side like a t5. Sorry for the dumb questions but I don't know a great deal about gm transmissions.

So the t10 bell housing will work on the t5? Or am I missing something. If anyone has a clutch and brake pedal assy. From a 80s f body ill buy it if the price is right!

And it has to be from a 3.8/4.3 with a t5 right?

So I can use the 4.3 bellhousing..ill find one lol. Ill messure my input shaft tonight and report back on that. If anyone really wants pics pm me and ill send a few to your phone. I don't have a computer just my phone lol

I do have one question for someone that might know....the 2.8 v6 and small block v8 as well as the 4.3v6 all share the same bell housing pattern correct?

So I started gathering parts to change my monte carlo ss 86 over to a 5 speed. I'm using a t5 for now because I'm not ready to do a t56 because my back pocket isn't that fat lol. But I got a t5 wc out of a 99 camaro. Now I need to find out what bell housing clutch flywheel combo I should use. Can anyone help? I've got a 350 in my monte to.

I didn't say I'm broke, all I said is I cant aford to drop 1k or more on just a transmission. Just because someone doesn't have the money to put all the best parts in there car doesn't meen they have no bussiness building a car. Not trying to start anything, or do I meen and direspect, I'm simply just saying. Anywho, I'm trying to work out a deal on a t56(part trade on my camaro)

Right, and I can't aford to build a trans. What about transmissions in the 2wd trucks?

T56 would be great but I think it might be a little out of my ideal price range. Something I can go find at about any junkyard if need be would be great(seems how most of them has warrenties anyway)

So I'm thinking about doing a 5 speed swap in my 86 monte carlo ss. I've done some looking and most people are using the T5 from f bodies. I've also read somewhere that the T5 doesn't handle higher hp very well (I've got a 355ci roller that should put down around 450ftlbs acording to John Lingenfelters engine building book) So, I'm really just looking into what transmissions I can use even if it is a 4 speed(I just want good highway cruising of the 5 speed) that will take the power I have and will fit in my 86 MC SS as easy as the T5. I need to get on this pretty soon for my stock 200-4r isn't going to take much more punishment

Update!! Truck still is not done. After waiting on new leaf springs and a few bushings I finaly have everything I need to finish!!. Ill have more pics soon.

AHH. put in 8 hours non stop today. I got the old frame cut out and the new one in and stuck but not welded all the way. I was going to use boat bottom paint because it is really tuff paint. but at 30 bucks a quart...yeah. so i got some black farm and implement paint that should do the job. its oil base so it should keep the rust out. im super tired and i think im gonna have a few glasses of vodka and pass out. Tomorow is going to be a VERY long day. still so much work to do. LOTS OF PICS COMMING TOMOROW!!!!!!!!!!

I have always loved these trucks. Now I have one and I plan on keeping it for a while lol.

well I got the bed off and fuel tank out today and all the bolts for the rear end loose. Its looking good so far! Ill have pics in the morning.

I tryed turning the heat up and wire speed down, it helped a little but I gave it the ol' big hammer stress test. I beat the dickens out of the thing and it was ok haha. That crossbar I was able to stand my 240lbs ass on it and it didn't break ha.

Yeah it is flux core. I can weld much better with a gas welder but I don't have one. This one works ok but it welds funny sometimes, and if the surface you welding isn't perfectly clean thing get real fun lol. Ill be welding the rest of the frame together with a stick welder though. I can honistly weld better with that to.

I cant wait to pop the bed off and show you guys just how bad the frame of the truck is!!!!!!

What's you guys thought on the roll on bed liner for the frame?

Well, I didn't get to do anything on it last night, but I did pick up some steel from mjrsplat( very cool guy btw). So as soon as I get off work at 1 ill be going straight over and start welding the patches in. Its probably gonna be a late night hustle. It needs to be painted tonight!
