  1. I know Lori Mesi! i kind of replaced Mr. Wade. Roger Wade was replaced by a guy named Mr. Lewis who taught there 2 years. Then he left and I replaced him 3 years ago.

    Clay,

I was from the Newburgh area which is half way between NYC and Albany. I have been up through Schenectady, beautiful area but also fairly depressed. Hocking county reminds me of that area. Ever go up through New Paltz and hit up the mountains of Minnowaska? What about hitting up the Catskills through Tannersville (Hunter Mountain)? Those are some good roads. I have warmed up to Columbus and do enjoy it. Might have been a bit hasty to say I dont like it. My family is still in NY so it is a hike to see them. I am looking forward to the spring and getting outdoors again!

  2. Well I have been using these tools since I was 13 with my first Technology class and working with Dad in middle school. So I have been using the table saw, band saw, jig saw, router, miter, etc for 15+ years now, daily for the past 8 years. Last month had a kid hit his knuckle on the band saw, only needed 4 stitches, nothing bad. Not saying it will never happen, always that chance that I will forget what I am doing and hit a digit.

PLUS, the table saw we have CAN'T cut your finger off. Impossible since we have a Saw Stop table saw. :) Best thing ever! Watch this 13 second video, you will not believe what you see!

  3. Definitely Strange things!

Those who take things off the shelf a few back, those are the older ones usually. Ever see a stock person take all the items off then put the new ones in the back? On milk usually they load those from inside the cooler, so the new ones are in the back, but not other items.

  4. Are you leaving the country? Might need to do a power or attorney with someone you trust to take care of the home if you are super far away.

Otherwise there should be no problem. Looks like you have things ok. It is not like you are renting it out to multiple families which would violate zoning issues.

A family member, mature, cash, it will not be a problem.

I would check on the insurance thing. They might need renters insurance on top of your homeowner's.

  5. It boils down to what you want to spend vs how much risk you want to take.

    What is the car worth?

How much will you get if you total it?

What is the chance you will total it? (Do you drive like grandma or spirited?)

Will you total it on the street or the track? Usually track crashes are not covered unless you can get it off the track and down the street a mile.

So answer the above. If the cost of collision will add up to more then the car is worth in a few years or if you have the money to replace the car should you wreck it or can live without the car if you do wreck it, then drop the insurance. If you can't afford to replace the car should something happen, keep the insurance. Don't forget aftermarket parts are usually not covered unless you tell them about it, which will raise your rates (usually). You can also ask to have a $1,000 deductible which will lower your rates a tremendous amount, but if something happens you are responsible for that first $1,000. To be honest you will probably pay for anything up to around $1300 just to keep if off your insurance.

I have a '91 MR2 turbo. I did not have collision about 6 months ago. Figured the car was worth $5k and after a dedutable and the money I paid each year, it was not worth it. Plus should I total it, I can buy it back and part it out for a couple grand. I did not have collision for 2 years and saved about $500 total. Then my dad tossed it into a ditch when he oversteered it:

Well the estimate came to around $1,000 for the paint, $100 for a mirror and bracket, and another $200 to re weld the exhaust. So dad paid most of it and I felt I should cover some too. Since then I have put collision back on the car which is only another $150 a year (not driven over 5,000 miles a year).

  6. Wow! Looks like they broke a few rims, possibly bent the others. That passenger rear shock looks like it blew through the tower. Most likely destroyed the ball joints on the driver side. What do you think, 8 grand in damage to that? Hope the frame is straight, that is a good looking car except those rims.
  7. Doc I was thinking the same thing. There should be a manditory test for all people renewing their license. It could be one given every 5 or 10 years, but we should all take it. I would personally rather have my 83 year old grandma driving on the highway with me then a 16 year old kid in a civic si with bald tires (I teach those idiots). Grandma is predictable to a point and never speeds. So it takes 1 minute longer when I get stuck behind her, better then getting T-boned by a teenager Txting.

The BMV does not take credit, only cash or check.

The title office takes cash or credit, no check.

WTF?! So when I transferred my vehicles from NY to OH, I had to have a lot of cash or checks and credit for the same building. What?!

Too bad one does not get a discount with attitudes received!

  8. I am warming up to Ohio. I have been to Hocking Hills area numerous times and is beautiful! Where I am in Dublin, a little boring. I have thought about AutoX, I just don't like the idea of going somewhere for 6 hours and getting to drive for only 6 minutes. I will look into those links 31rx7, thanks. I know some of the BMW and Porsche clubs get some more time in, so I need to look into that a bit.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Anyone else here have an MR2 (besides Crossle)?

Hey Crossle!! Thanks for introducing me here. It is a pain to actually get to see the real content of this site with this initiation jargon.

I am also part of http://www.mr2oc.com. I teach high school, enjoy hiking with the dog, moutain bikin, RC Helicopters, and building things with power tools. I have been here in Ohio for about 3 years now.

I also have a few videos of my car at Mid Ohio. I run the HPDE group2 sessions there:

And of course, one can never post enough pictures!
