You ever think this would happen in our country?
They won't attempt this until there is a National Gun Registry. That is the first critical step towards confiscation.
-
I don't understand why they would ban that particular rifle. It's prohibitively expensive, except for the most monocled of criminals.
This is a test case for them. Incrementally, they will ban all firearms.

I have no issues with leather or chains.
Though, I first used plastic straps and they got eaten..
Might be because my targets are smaller. I have the 5" circles and squares. 3-4 shots with a .308 at 100 yds and the cables were done.
-
Widener's has good prices on AR500 steel. I've been shooting at the same targets for many years, now, mostly with mild steel core 7.62x54r. It barely knicks the stuff. After each range trip I simply re-apply some flat white latex house paint.
The trick to these targets, though, is how you hang them. The plates usually come with holes in them, but the problem is that when bullets hit the target and splatter, the hot metal will tear through steel bolts and cables very quickly. I ended up having to weld chain links on the back of the targets to hang them. This keeps the attachment points behind the "plane of destruction."

I'm still waiting for 54r ammo to drop. No, I'm not holding my breath!
You do know that much of it comes from Russian, right?
This stuff is likely to skyrocket given the situation in the Ukraine and Obama's threats of sanctions and trade restrictions. If I were you, I'd stock up on 7.62x54r and 7.62x39 as you probably won't see significantly lower prices ever again.

I'll post some photos if I end up removing the cosmoline...

I don't know if I'm going to mess with this one. Haven't decided, yet. Cleaned up, this isn't really an uncommon rifle. It probably has more historic and monetary value if left as is.

Neat that you found this and thanks for sharing. I'd be curious to see the bolt
I can see a little bit of it...

The slot cut in the receiver was for ejection of shells from the Pedersen device. The Pederson device converted these early bolt action rifles to semi-auto using a special intermediate size cartridge. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedersen_device

This 1903 Mark I, after being rebuilt by the Rock Island Arsenal, was purchased through the DCM in 1949 for $15. It's been in a preservative grease ever since!
Still has the original shipping box and paperwork, including the canceled money order used for purchase! I find it quite amazing that the paperwork and box have survived all these years.

I'm not a fan of the magnifier that comes with it, but the unit itself is a nice piece for a great price.

I suppose for good reason!
http://zbroya.info/en/blog/2650_ukrainian-gun-owners-associations-official-statement/
"Today every citizen of Ukraine understands why our country has hundreds of thousands of policemen. Last illusions were crushed when riot police used rubber batons and boots at the Independence Square on peaceful citizens.
After such actions we realize that it is not enough to only adopt the Gun Law.
As of today Ukrainian Gun Owners Association will start to work on the preparation of amendments to the Constitution, which will provide an unconditional right for Ukrainian citizens to bear arms.
People should have the right to bear arms, which will be put in written into the Constitution.
Authorities should not and will not be stronger than its people!
Armed people are treated with respect! "

I get the occasional few failures with my bricks of 22 whether it be the blazer, federal or winchester bricks I have. It doesn't seem to be a certain brand and they are all fired out of the same guns so it doesn't matter to me what brand I use the 10/22 seems to eat them up and the savage doesn't care bc its a bolt gun. I plan to expand the stable of 22s I have this year since I've built up a nice pile of ammo. Im thinking a M&P 15-22 maybe a henry lever gun (so damn fun to shoot) and a pistol of some kind still not decided on it.
You may want to consider some type of older military training rifle. Two of the most accurate .22LRs that I've ever owned were these:
The most accurate was this ERMA .22LR. It was a training rifle for the K98 Mauser and had the same weight and features. Unfortunately someone sporterized it and cut off the front part of the stock where the barrel band was. It still shot amazingly tight groups with average ammo.

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/IMG_5766_zpsa0174397.jpg
The second most accurate was this British Enfield. This one was a trainer for the British SMLE rifles and still had the original stock disk indicating it was from the O.T.C = Officer Training Corps, Junior Division
M.H.S = Mill Hill School. These rifles have the same weight as the .303 caliber version but are single shot instead of magazine fed. The special magazine is actually hollow and is there to catch the empty shells!

While these military trainers aren't the most common, they are out there if you search and they are quite fun to shoot. They're also a good investment.

Thanks, I'll keep my eyes open.

Remington Golden bullets are not waxed. They are gilded with brass (hence the "Golden") to avoid having wax.
The American Eagle brand in the red boxes works great in my Ruger 10/22 but is single shot in the Advantage Arms .22LR conversion for my Glock.
-
I haven't purchased any of the Golden bullets since they were about $13/550 rounds so maybe the quality has decreased since then? I hope not.
-
Any Remington Golden bullets? I haven't seen those in quite a while. There the only inexpensive rounds that will cycle my Advantage Arms .22LR conversion 100% of the time.
-
It's not exactly redundant, it's to ensure that the trigger resets properly. I know some have had success removing it, but some haven't. I haven't tried removing it, myself, though. I really don't mind the heavier trigger as it still has a very nice feel.

I wanted to get opinions on a good 2K-3k ar15.
Currently Considering:
LARUE OBR
LARUE Predatar
HK MR556
Noveske of some sort
And, a wildcard. FN Scar
Thanks for your opinions. please feel free to toss out others!
I'd get the SCAR but that's just because AR15 rifles are not very interesting to me.
-
The Tavors are quite nice and easy to shoot. The biggest complaint with them is the trigger, but you get used to it very quickly. This is the first bullpup rifle that I really enjoy shooting.

Canada Confiscating Firearms
in Dumpster
Posted
Only in the States that have gun registration.
I suspect I'm "preaching to the choir," but any type of gun registry is a bad thing. I'm sure there are plenty of gun owners who may not agree, and even others that might actually think it's a good idea - it's not! There are far too many people in this Country that want to see guns banned altogether. They're first task is to locate them. What starts as an seemingly innocent registration requirement can easily turn into a confiscation scenario.
