I’m James. Car is a 91 3000gt vr4. I bought it about 7 years ago after saving up money since I was 9 years old. Got it from a 30’s something idiot (who acted like a 17 year old) that decided to put an aftermarket stereo and security system in it, as well as neon pissers….. and those shitty wheels. I got it when I was 18 and ended up blowing the motor running way too much boost for stock fuel. “ENTER FLAMES HERE” Car sat for a long time while I saved up money for an engine from Japan with about 35k on it, awesome compression 150’s all around and the turbos weren’t beat to shit. Took me 5 weeks to put the motor in on my own, was the first time I had ever turned a wrench on a car. Got lucky and the motor has been strong ever since. Since then I really got into cars. Had several more problems, mainly ECU related, took me months to diagnose, but kept learning while trying to fix it on the cheap. Ended up getting a 93 ECU from a car that got totaled and it solved all of my random ignition issues. Put a Borla exhaust on DP back, stripped the precats. Put an aluminum flywheel and stage 2 clutch in. Put a lot into the brakes, cross drilled slotted rotors (ebay special), axxis street pads, titanium backplates, and stiffening bolts. Pulled all of the A/C out and am running a tensionless accessory belt that I did some mods to that cut the compressor, tensioner, and idler out so the accessory belt runs from the crank directly to alternator. Run plugs a heat range colder then stock, and gapped tight, have a manual boost controller, run 11 psi (close to stock.) Do some data logging with MMCD and a laptop. Cars got 127k on it now. Put about 24k on this motor. Wish the car was 600lbs lighter…….Have an 88 buick regal and 99 honda accord as beaters, both have over 200k and run like champs
Think that’s about it. Next upgrade I’m planning will be something called a driver mod!?!@? Its cheap and easy to install, or so I’m told……..
