  1. Would this be the one? Like I said, didn't get to talk to or even see the owner.
  2. There was a black Linginfelter C6 at Street Life Tour two weeks ago. I have a couple of pictures of it, I'll post them later. He was running at SLT but I never saw the guy by his car or saw what his times were.
  3. Another pristine FD will be at the shows . The rotary FD numbers continue to grow!
  4. https://picasaweb.google.com/114930089240636584825/ImportFaceOff20120930?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCLS5hr_eoYvxEw&feat=directlink Lots of different cars in this album. That was one bad Datsun.
  5. I didn't see any Lsx FDs at this show. Actually there was only 2 other FD's. There was a blue FD that didn't open the hood, never saw the owner. The TRU Motorsports owner had his FD there (not v8). On the other hand, nearly every drift car had a v8 swap. Like Doc said, the judging was non-existent. I didn't even see guys who looked like judges. But Doc I disagree, the pack of NSX's were pretty impressive.
  6. I got a few, I'll try to post some tomorrow. It was too cold to hold the damn camera still after sitting out there for 6 hours!
  7. Likewise, hope to see you there.
  8. I have over 1000 pictures (no joke, and videos) from Kevin when he rebuilt my motor. I got updates almost daily. He does an awesome job. Again, congrats. No problem Joe. Hope to have 5 FDs together for the next IFO. The Sakebomb HID's are top notch. Being able to see at night is a bonus. Eric didn't like my blue twinkle when I was behind him though lol.
  9. Congrats to KD93R1 for winning Best Mazda. If you've seen any of his other posts about 'Nothing special rotary builds', you know he runs a rotary shop out of his garage specializing in FDs. (He also built the two behind his, one of which is mine.) He does great work and it shows in the details. He's got a few FDs he's been tinkering with...
  10. Lol my bad. I see this topic has been thoroughly discussed.
  11. I have already talked to KD-93R1. He has been extremely knowledgeable and helpful. But thank you for the suggestion. I will be going with a street port and RA Classic seals. I intend on keeping my twins for the near future. A single swap could be in the works but it's a few years out. I'd like to be at approximately 350hp. It isn't my daily driver but I want that kind of reliability. I think I have my rebuild list all figured out, but I'm open to suggestions. If people are interested, I can post it, but no one likes reading a huge post. Specifically I was looking for anything anyone found to be an annoying fix following a rebuild. Something they wish they had done during it. If no one has, that's cool, this was also a cheap ploy to figure out who had or was interested in FDs. I'm trying to get some useful comments outside of "LS1 or go home". If anyone can find me an LS1 and someone that's knows how to do it for under $5k I'd consider it. Otherwise, keep your V8. Something about the rumble of a V8 coming out of an FD doesn't seem right to me. I know they're great swaps, great reliability and tons of power. But...no. I'll keep my brapbrap.
  12. So it's time to rebuild the 13b in my 1993 RX7 R1. (Pics of the car are in The Oven still) It still has decent compression but lately it's been having some more serious problems. There's definitely a coolant seal leaking as I get some smoke on cold starts. Saturday when I went to take it out, it started on only 1 rotor. That tossed up some red flags. Before anyone even posts it, I will not be doing a LSx swap. Or any swap for that matter. This will stay a 13bTT for the time being as I don't have the funds to switch to anything else right now. (I also don't want to, 20b maybe but I don't got that cash laying around) Anyway... If you are an FD owner, know an FD owner or are a rotary head I'd like to hear your advice. What I want to know is what did you find out during/after your rebuild that you wished you could change, redo properly or improve? Decided not to change a gasket then it failed? Coolant line failed? Torqued that bolt too much or too little? These are just some examples. I don't want to make this thread a build thread for my car or anyone else, just what you learned during your rebuild.
  13. That's totally not true. I love me a good strong 90 min or 120 min IPA but if I had a choice between any quantity beer like Bud or Miller, I'll always pick Yuengling. I'm not a big fan of Yuengling light though. When I worked in MD we used to have $.25 Yuenglings until like 9pm at the bars. You'd be shitfaced for $3 before any chicks showed up .
  14. Lol, stock R1 suspension. I didn't size up the wheels. The previous owner put those on. So yeah, I agree max 4X4! It looks like its flying next to the other slammed FD. I intend on getting a new set of wheels and some suspension, but that's a long way away. First up is getting this rotary back to a 'reliable' state. 100k miles and I don't know the last rebuild, so Im not taking any chances. @LS1 swap: I can't do it! To me, swapping the rotary out spits in the faces of hundreds of hard working Mazda engineers for tens of years. I appreciate they're hard work and would never swap despite the unreliability.
  15. First, I'll address the Cincinnati thing. I am from Cincinnati, but I went to OSU for my undergrad. I try to get up to CBus as often as possible, usually once every month or two. Recently I've been talking to some other 7 owners in Columbus and hanging out with them. They are on these forums, but I'm not aware what names they use on this forum and I don't want to call them out by RL name. Ideally I'd like to get up to cruise sometime and hang out with some of the CR guys. Unfortunately, Cincinnati doesn't have a very good import scene. Lots of little ricers and stuff like that. A friend of mine suggest CR as a more mature group of enthusiasts. On to the FD. I picked up this FD at the end of April. It is an 1993 FD R1. List of mods is pretty short, mainly a Racing Beat catback exhaust. It is primarily stock, which is what I wanted when getting an FD. I will be having one of your members rebuild the engine and port it in a few months, so the car will be in Columbus soon. I've been into FDs ever since I drove my buddies back in 2003. Anyway, I'm sure you aren't into reading books so here are some of the pics. Looking forward to meet up with some of you guys. Sorry for the small pictures, RX7Club albums have a size cap. Alright...go head...let the Doritos jokes fly lol http://www.rx7club.com/picture.php?albumid=4725&pictureid=37739 http://www.rx7club.com/picture.php?albumid=4725&pictureid=37742 http://www.rx7club.com/picture.php?albumid=4725&pictureid=38650 http://www.rx7club.com/picture.php?albumid=4725&pictureid=38652 http://www.rx7club.com/picture.php?albumid=4725&pictureid=38654 http://www.rx7club.com/picture.php?albumid=4725&pictureid=38655 http://www.rx7club.com/picture.php?albumid=4725&pictureid=38656 http://www.rx7club.com/picture.php?albumid=4725&pictureid=38657 And finally the twin red heads (mine is on the right): http://www.rx7club.com/picture.php?albumid=4725&pictureid=38663
