  1. I'm calling 25-30lbs worth of HME caused that due to the flash. It wasn't an amateur, but it seems it was either time delayed, or an RCIED.

Very sad. It looks just like tannerite to me... I'm no explosives expert though. I know they have been talking about banning tannerite so here it goes..

  2. If you're planning on suppressing you should choose your can and find out how short of a barrel they will warranty the item on. If you shoot too short it will void any and all warranty's for baffle maintenance. As far as twist goes, you should just use the same twist rates as a normal carbine and up barrel:

    .224 / 5.56mm

    1:16 up to 55 grains

    1:15 up to 55 grains

    1:14 up to 55 grains

    1:12 35 – 63 grains

    1:9 45 – 69 grains

    1:8 55 - 75 grains

    1:7 62 - 90 grains

I run a 10.5" in 5.56 and a 9" 300 AAC as that's as short as my manufacture will warranty, and see no problems at all.

  3. Instead of right in front of Cup O'Joe and Champps, we're parking in the back of the lot along Kinnear Rd, by the main entrance to AMC Theater.

Points A+D above cover Cup O'Joe, and Point B is the theater. The road at the top of the image is Kinnear, and the bldg on the right side is Champps.

ROFL... must be parking for imstock :masturboy:

  4. I've seen a few M16 carriers out there. I know sherluk at the local pro shows in town have a few of them at each show and you can buy complete uppers from them still around 550-750 depending on your options. I have a few rifles with stripped and complete uppers from them with no problems. However I'm not sure what specific steel they're made from.
  5. I paid $45 for my 40/10mm dies at Vances. They had some the other day I was in there. Do you need any certain brand? I started on an RCBS and now use a Lee wishing I would've started with Lee because now the RCBS dies don't work with the Lee bullet feeder. I may be upgrading to a Lee set in the future. If so I'll be willing to part with my RCBS set.
  6. I haven't read your entire post as I'm on my phone riding in the car at the moment. I've got an entire rotating assembly for a 408 and l92's. Callies forged 4" crank and callies rods. Weisco pistons with the l92's put it right at 11:1. All the parts are brand new from Texas speed. If your interested let me know! Good luck with the build!
  7. Thanks for the pleasant welcome from everyone!

Yes, that is my neighbor parking a bit close to my truck… I spoke with them about this and they didn’t seem to care, they were pushing their front bumper in on the receiver lol. Now I park it with the hitch on :)

The 408 block was line honed with a main cap on backwards and every main journal is out of spec on the high side. I'm hoping to mix and match some extra clearence bearings with my standard bearings I've already purchased to make up for the difference. Worst case I use my LS1 block and drop the stroker in it and get some new pistons... possibly drop my CR and play with a turbo.

  8. I hear you guys like pics, this is all I have for my build currently!

  9. Currently it's at Performance Research, they aren't the shop that messed it up though. I dont want to slander any shops so I'm not going to name names. I'm going to give them the chance to make it right, just waiting for a second opinion.

If the 408 doesn't work out I'm going to be looking for a decent heads/cam swap.

Oh, yeah... Thanks for the welcome :)
