  1. Just hard to justify, the car is almost done and I'm at less than $2500 including the car. It would be $1000+ and then a custom bell housing and custom driveshaft... Plus MPGs should be alright considering the final product will be probably 1000lbs lighter than anything a 5.0 has powered from the factory... BUT if someone wants to contribute a T56 to help the cause I am down lol
  2. I am new to the Ford world. I know there are at least 3 types of T5 ford trannys, World Class, Borg warner, and borg warner/ tremec. Is one necessarily better than the other? I also know they came in a variety of vehicles, are there some you really want and some that should be avoided due to reliability or gearing?

As some of you know I am building a Monster Miata, I have my mild 302 and the 8.8 IRS but I still need a T5. I just know absolutely nothing about them and I searched through the forum but pretty much all the posts are about T56s or troubleshooting. Can Someone school me? I see them for sale from $100-$700 and don't know what I should aim for. There is currently one for $120 out of a Ranger near my Grandparents, but I was unsure if the gearing would suck.

  3. Anyone renting or know someone renting out a house? The GF and I are looking for a place 2+ bedrooms $800 or less a month. Enough space for a truck, 1-3 cars, and possibly a motorcycle. 1-2 of the cars and the bike can possibly go to storage but I would love whomever long time if they had a big driveway and a 2 or 2.5 car garage. Fairly open on location but I do work on Polaris and the misses works in Westerville... If you have seen or heard of something or know someone please let me know. I would be more than happy to reward you with beer...
  4. Bump. Unis and Michs are gone, all the rest are still available. I also have a Ford Auto tranny $250obo, some miata rad, fans, and AC bits B/O. I also have a nice Eaton m60/62 supercharger $650obo for sale...

Looking for some 302 bits, as well as 15x9 or 15x10 wheels in either 4x100 or 4x114.3/4x4.5

  5. I have a Rad, twin fans, and some AC bits from a 1990 Miata I am not using, the car came as a roller so I cannot attest to there functionality but they look ok.

Best cash offer for all, or will consider some separation.

Can send pics via phone or email.

  6. As I mentioned in my build intro, I have a 1990 Miata that I am putting a 302 into. For the standard install to work the oil pan hangs down 3inches or so, which limits ride height. The other option is to lift the motor which further throws off balance and means I have to cut a hole in the hood or run a goofy cowl.

As mentioned before I considered running a dry sump system, but that is proving to be difficult and expensive. Another person suggested an external oil pump and slim pan, but I don't see what the difference truly is. Yet another option suggested was to "wing" the pan and go wide with baffels around the sump for the pickup but I have no experience with this and am unsure how to do this or how much clearance it would give me.

I have spent countless hours on forums and the old Google box without anything that really pleases me.

The goal is for the car to ride as low as possible with the motor being mounted as low as possible within the car and the stock hood intact.

Anybody have knowledge or experience on any of these?

    Anybody have any other ideas?

  7. Nate I am unsure. I am new to this and have just been brain storming in my head. Most people just deal with the stockish ride height or cowl or cut the hood. I was looking into dry sump but looks like it will be a ton of money $1k-$2k. Someone recently suggested an external oil pump which would allow a slimmer pan.

Willy, you've got a deal. And I will call you tonight.

Hey Sean, I am doing well. Congrats on the engagement! Not much new. I have heard of the red Miata but haven't seen it in person. I have just always wanted a V8 miata, and kind of prefer the 302 for price, the sweet sound, and they are slightly easier to cram in than a LS.

  9. So one of my current projects is cramming a 1991 fuel injected 302 from a Grand Marquis into a 1990 Mazda Miata. The car was just too adorable to not change radically. I know this isn't the ideal 5.0 to use but it was a good deal, came with bbk shorty headers, a trick flow upper and lower intake mani, a HUGE billet TB, and some friends chipped in E7 heads and some GT cams and lifters. I will be posting pictures and progress updates as we go.

In the meantime, I am newish to V8s. Could anyone school me on dry sumps?

I am most likely dry sumping the engine so the car can sit lower and the motor sit lower within the car. Otherwise the oil pan sits 3 inches lower than the car OR you raise the motor and throw off balance more AND have to cut the hood. I don't really want a 4x4 stance or a hacked hood. SO dry sump seems like a viable option. Advice? Info? Opinions? Options? I am researching but would like some input.

    Hope you like!
