  1. Indeed, people need to not jump to conclusions so quickly. The disparity between this thread and the reality of what's going on is stark (but not surprising... it is a message board.) I hope that the new shop will be a success. The more competition IPS has, the better things will be for us potential customers in the Columbus market.

    Pick a car

Realize this isn't in your list, but... What about MR2s? Cheap, fun, easy to mod for power gains (mk2 turbo)
  3. With all the other more important things going on in our country and the world, the media wastes time on this, giving any moron who can tell the story they want a pedestal to spout their bullshit from. No doubt it yields great ad revenue. Fuckers.
  4. 50 years (perhaps) from now, when the AI becomes practical and the robotics become economical, people will be trying to marry these things.
  5. Damn I was just about to post this... The dodge site for it: http://www.drivesrt.com/srt-viper/ Rear looks good, front soso(but need to see in person...) Engine improvements sound great. Looks like an all around mean machine. I want.
  6. Got some good wind and rain here near the campus. Saw at least 4 wall clouds, but nothing like what we had the other day. Have some pictures from both days... haven't gotten around to pulling them off the cards.
  7. Ah the MX6... I had a 95 MX6 V6. Was a nice commuter car, never let me down. Never did any mods to it though. As for my MR2... I really enjoy the car and hope to keep it for a long while. That said, despite the amount of money I've put into giving it a more healthy amount of non-laggy power (V6 turbo helps, original car is a bit lacking), I bet I'll end up replacing it this decade. With what I don't know... want >400hp, <2300lbs, smaller than the MR2, and MR.
  8. With similar constraints I got a Honda Fit for the wife. (a manual though -- auto would probably make it cheaper as they're easier to find) Upside: Consistently 30-35mpg(w/ lots of city driving), cheap to run and maintain, lots of space Downside: Noisy above 65mph, laggy DBW(won't really matter for an auto...) She likes it, I can sorta tolerate it. Also, uses a timing chain intended to last the life of the engine so no need to really worry about that.
  9. The police Chargers look badass. That said, police depts need very few, if any, fast cars to enforce the law. I hope that they will not waste my tax dollars on many of these.
  10. How lucky! It took way too much coaxing to get my wife to learn to drive a manual... but she now has one as her DD. (Honda Fit! very exciting.) Some ideas - RX8 (cheaper, decent handling, reliable if you check the oil) - Porsche Boxster (more expensive, but comfortable and decent to drive) - Lotus Elise (no luxury really, but a luxury brand... who knows she might like it)
  11. I think it's a good thing that it's not AWD... it's just more weight that you need to carry around that isn't useful much of the time. I'm going to reserve my judgement for when I actually get to drive (or at least ride in) a BRZ. That said, I doubt I'm in their target market.
  12. Thanks for the welcome, everybody. The V6 is a 1MZFE without VVTI. It will be lighter than the 3SGTE it's replacing and yield better transient response at similar peak power levels. Indeed the 2GRFE is becoming a popular swap, as it offers more displacement and power than the 1MZFE on the stock ECU. On boost they should have similar power potential. I decided against it because it is a more complicated/expensive swap and would be more difficult to control with the AEM EMS.
  13. Hello Columbus Racing. I've been living in Columbus for a few years and know at least a couple people on this forum, so I figured I'd finally get around to joining. My daily driver is a 91 Toyota MR2. It has a 95 engine and transaxle, an upgraded turbo setup, AEM EMS standalone, Kaaz LSD, and the supporting mods. http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s471/shinydeluxe/img_0388s_crop.jpg http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s471/shinydeluxe/img_1175s.jpg http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s471/shinydeluxe/dyno_mar2011.png http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s471/shinydeluxe/aem_051111_snap1_crop.png Most recently it is having a V6 swapped in, probably(still figuring out details) w/ a 62-1 T4 F1-65 0.96 A/R turbo and an E85 tune. The car will continue to retain its stock exterior. I like any car that is entertaining to drive, regardless of who makes it or how much power it has. Looking forward to seeing some details about some of the other cool cars I see around Columbus.
