  1. on that note...

the dirty little beast finally came to life, and no joke, just after midnight under a full moon on friday the 13th

turned on the stereo for the first time since its even been in this state - radio was tuned right to station playing ozzy - crazy train

was planning HJC AR10-II (actually anybody know anyone around here who carries them?) but seriously based on this i need to find a race helmet that looks like

  2. BUT seats are what im really needing right now, i know what i want eventually but dont have the cash right now. i can get these for cheap (no rails)... and i think im going to do it because even when i switch i can put these in the OBS rallyx car. but that depends on what its going to take to get some rails that will work for each, also i need to figure out a way to recover them cheaply, i hate the blue... anybody know if i can just dye the material? maybe a camo seat cover.. seriously though

i have some extra interior vinyl and would like to make some custom old school lookin seat covers but not sure its worth it for these seats.. also girlfriend isnt here with her sewing machine skills at the moment

  3. ended up ditching the webers... they just werent going to be right, especially being 45s, for what the car was aimed at. was going to need to rejet, and would have choked down which would have just required more investment and time than was worth putting into something that was gonig to be ALL top end.

i traded them for some race prepped SU carbs in very good order, rebuilt by a long time 240z master around here Bob Smith

SU carbs actually came off of this gem, #13 SVRA racecar, owned by Andy Doll, who has become a good friend and been unendingly helpful in all of this, huge thanks to him. this is also where the webers went.. right where they belong. first race is last weekend of june, unfortunately same as pikes peak so i need to make some decisions =\

  4. made what friends have dubbed the creepiest basement in the world into a paint booth. and then realized i basically made a murder chamber, even creepier.

painted all suspension parts front/rear with zinc phosphate (95% zinc) and then POR-15

rear spindle pins were a pain in the ass.. as expected, beefy special little tool helped a lot, but even it mushroomed before second one broke off, i ended up just grinding it apart

  6. Hi Greg, I am also bummed, but very very glad to read some facts about the state of affairs and honestly it sounds like mostly good news relative to the rumor mill.

I know autointerests is making an effort to take over the track, but i have no idea of their affiliations: http://autointerests.com/content/save-nelson-ledges-petition

I already signed their petition just because im at the viewpoint of i dont care who takes it as long as someone does and it stays alive and hopefully gets some fixin.

I have some friends that are more close with Marv that I'm hoping to hear something from, i will let you know as i do.

  7. Oh...and that 2.5RS is sick. Where did you get that front bull bar thing?

its a pretty hard to find rally innovations piece (actually the only thing i kept from the car in selling)... its really just a light bar so mostly for show but i also have a full engine skid plate - both of which are going on the outback sport (aka Crapwagon aka Dirt Diggler)

Welcome. Looking forward to seeing the Datsun build.

indeed! ive got a bunch of pics of the suspension setup etc up to now i just need to pull off of my camera. engine is kinda low on compression but im going to give it a go anyway... fingers crossed for first fire up with the new carb setup may be tonight...

  8. Your next license plate should be ROTSUN

haha, i'll be registering the tacoma any day now... i do think at the least it will be getting a 'ratsun' sticker

  9. thanks guys! i have to say austin suits me about as well as any city could ever suit a person, but ive found a great home here in columbus already. love it here, great little city, and already made friends with a guy who races a 240Z in SVRA and another guy who runs chump/lemons, between them and this site i think i'll definitley be able to find my racing fix!

Nice intro, man. I moved here from Texas but around Bryan/College Station. Though I'm not originally from there, I've spent a massive portion of my life all over Texas. Few other Texas folk on here, as well.

Anyway, welcome. And if you're down for whatever, I take some big day trips now and again around Ohio. If this place is good for one thing, it's the roads.

thanks man - ive got a lot of cousins and family around college station/houston, and even more up on the panhandle.

still have a bit of work to go on the datsun but once its on the road i will be hungrily looking for roads all over...
