  1. Thanks for the welcome 99StockGT. I am only getting up the hill a few times a year at this point, so I'm okay with an annual winter trip to Denver or BC to get my fix I'm hoping to find something new to fill that void or just go nuts on the car, now that emissions testing isn't a factor. Will do BigO. I'm hoping to get more active on here once things settle down and I imagine I'll have lots of questions about the City once we do some exploring. And this board seems like a great place to ask for advice and meet some local enthusiasts. I'm actually sitting on a plane right now on my way to there to celebrate the new year. As it turns out I was able to get my Wrx loaded up on the moving truck for $300, off the books, so that's a relief. In fact, it's already waiting for me in Columbus; if I manage to get the front bumper back on and convince the lady to go to a car meet, I might check out C&C.
  2. Welp. We ended up finding a house to rent just outside Grandview, off of N 5th. Thanks for the recommendation guys. The house has a 1.5 car garage and a good size basement so it will do just fine. Plus there's an e85 station on N High that's not far. At this point I'm still in CA. The plan is I will be driving cross-country mid-January, in a 2wd 4runner towing my wrx, in the middle of winter. I'm still on the fence on whether that's a recipe for disaster, even if I plan for the weather.
  3. Hi Triston and welcome. I'm new here too. Nice choice in wheels, those Enkeis will look mean on there.
  4. Yes, the outback would be right at home. Only a forester from the same year could blend in better. To bring myself up to speed I did a little research on the topic and ran across this "List of gay villiages" on Wiki: http://i1036.photobucket.com/albums/a447/jason_walker6/gayvilliages_zps61yythjx.png Looks like I walked right into this one, although I must say my latte from Stauf's was phenomenal. :gay:
  5. Lol, okay. So Mojoe was not speaking figuratively. Thanks for the warning.
  6. Thanks guys I'll check out Grandview. Wherever we end up a two car garage is a must, would like to find something with addtl off-street parking too.
  7. Thanks everyone. Sounding like XC mountain biking will be a good option. I'm getting a little old to be hucking it on a snowboard...maybe. Street luge caught my attention and interested in checking out Alum Creek. I get pretty lazy when it comes to driving more than a couple hours for activities, but good to know there are some good weekend spots within 4-5 hours. You are the second person now that's implied german villiage/short north are bad options for finding a place to live. What's the issue? If my neighbors hate me for making noise during daytime hours, I consider that their problem.
  8. Mainly because the wife and I want to put ourselves within walking distance of good food and drink options. But I am interested in hearing the cons of living in that vicinity if you care to share. We bought our house here in CA about 20 mins outside of town and miss being closer to places to relax, eat and drink for hours on end. Thanks! The Subaru scene in Sacramento has never been very good. I grew up in the SF Bay Area and the car scene there was way better than in Sacramento. To make matters worse, now that the price of 1st gen US WRXs has come down so much, the Subaru 'scene' pretty much consists of mud flaps, hella horns, and sidewayz exhaust pipes. I am hoping to be an OH resident by the end of the year. The only snow tires I've ever owned are Nokians and was planning to check out their current line.
  9. Hey Guys, I'm moving to Columbus by the end of the year and am wondering what type of 'extreme' sports are popular out there? I am coming from California so I generally get my fill of scaring-the-piss out of myself from snowboarding... jumps, rails, cliff/cornice drops, steep/deep, etc. I'm hoping to find something human, wind, or gravity powered that takes advantage of Columbus' geographical location... strong winds/flat landscape? Just guessing. I really have no idea. So, besides racing, what do you all do for fun to get your blood pumping? Jason
  10. Thanks yenner. Yea... accounting field; moreso auditing and audit procedure, rather than debits and credits. As far as interests outside of cars, I like to snowboard and cycle (mtb & road) when I find the time. Just recently bought my first dirt bike (crf230) and have been having fun with that. Also bought a house last year so that has taken up most of my free time recently. I'm working on getting a job lined up at the moment and will be out there again next Friday for an interview, so hoping that pans out. A little more about myself: turned 30 in July, getting married in June next year, have two mini-dachshunds and a nile monitor, looking to buy a house with a garage in German Village, or somewhere close to short-north and that area. Mid-Ohio - noted Glad to hear it is a top-20 track.
  11. Wow, this forum is worlds better than NASIOC. Thanks - does this mean I am not a 'riceboy' anymore? I will have to keep that in mind. I am in the accounting field, specifically 'sales' and 'use' tax consulting. Currently looking to secure employment in Columbus
  12. The long block it bone stock, so I've considered it a ticking time bomb ever since I bumped up the power. But since then it's seen 6 track days and about 8k of street driving, and I don't take it easy on it. The e85 fuel is definitely the difference. Its at 24 psi. Depending on how much power you're going for, you may be better off sticking with the EJ series motors. There is the 2L that came in the 02-05 or the 2.5L in 06-07. You may also want to look into the STI motor. You should be able to get a reliable 400whp out of a well built EJ, more for RWD. Unless you are looking for instant torque or something unique, the EZ30 may be more trouble than its worth. The course in Lexington. Is it no good? It's the only road course I was able to find close to Columbus.
  13. Thanks everyone. I was referred here by a guy named Jason... something... on a Subaru facebook page after I started asking about emissions requirements in Columbus (or lack thereof to my pleasant surprise). He's got an old GTX. My Fiancee got a job out there with Victoria Secret. So I am following and will be looking for work once I make my way over. Definitely looking forward so checking out MOSCC. I never turn down a chance to embarrass a V8. But we will have to set it up offline to avoid the ban-hammer.
  14. This article says not anytime soon: http://www.insidercarnews.com/subaru-unveils-its-limited-run-wrx-sti-s207/ Still underpowered. I'm excited to drive the Ford Focus RS when it makes it's stateside debut in February.
  15. Hey guys I'm new. +1 for open source tuning unless you need to change maps on the fly (and don't feel like carrying a laptop with you). You need to turn the car off to change maps, but its pretty quick ('realtime' map). Reflashing the ecu takes a little longer and requires you to get under the dash to mess with a connector. Keep in mind it would have to be another forester.
