  1. It looks like it's gone back to normal. It may just be that the previous owner drove it rarely, and now I DD it, probably just blowing out cobwebs. Though now I am getting lean AFR *facepalm* Next week I'm going to do plugs, wires, distributor cap/rotor, oil change w/ filter, and check the TPS and MAF to see if they need replaced... which I'm starting to think they might based on the behavior of the car as far as AFR goes. Might do injectors, fuel filter, and pump while I'm at it.
  2. Right now it has Rotella T6 5w40 in it. I know, I know, heavy duty "diesel oil." It was a habit started by the previous owner that I've maintained after reading around that quite a bit of VG30ETs were running it great, because it has a high ZDDP rating which is good for our old flat valve style cars. That being said I've been thinking of switching back to 10w30 amsoil or similar, buy kinda worried about modern formulas eating up my seals.
  3. Recently, I noticed my Z (Kouki 5spd Turbo) making a ticking noise. Sounds like it's tapping the valves, and not a rod knock or anything like that. I deduced that because the oil pressure has staying pretty low until the car has ran for nearly half hour, and have given it a couple hearty revs, and even then, it is still a little low. I'm thinking sticky lifters/valves, or too light of oil. I think a slightly heavier weight oil would do it, but looking for a little confirmation. Any ideas from any of you with experience in the VG30E/ET department? Thanks, Lost
  4. Also, won't be able to title it in your name without the car here. Out of state VIN inspection required before you can title it.
  5. I'm thinking about coming out tonight, of course if the wallet permits.
  6. Sounds very sketchy. You need to have some sort of failsafe for your money. I've done a few out of state purchases, you just need to always deal with the title and money in person. It's a little extra to have to do so, but the security is worth it. I'd rather spend $200 on a plane ticket than lose thousands to some scam artist.
  7. Nope. The only things left are the doors, center console, passenger headlight, front side markers, and the trunk interior. Oh and seatbelts.
  8. @Antwon Let me know what all you need. The car is heading to the scrap yard monday.
  9. Bump. Seats, door cards, carpet, dash, wheels, front brakes, rotors, headliner, A pillars, tail lights, door sills, passenger mirror, grille SOLD. Center console, LSD, Trunk interior, Engine, ECU, Wiring harness PENDING.
  10. All Seats, front door cars, dash board, trunk lid + wing, LSD, and rear bumper pending sale.
  11. I couldn't agree more, haha. I'll pull as much as I can tonight and get the rest of the fluids drained. I appreciate it.
  12. Absolutely! I'd appreciate it. Don't know how great this weekend will be, with weather being the way it is, and all (car is outside). But I'd definitely take the help anyways if you're Ok with pulling an engine in the snow. Haven't had time to pull anymore parts because of the weather, so I guess I'll try to get more off tomorrow before it gets too dark.
  13. Just hoisting it out and putting the engine and tranny on a tire + double long pallet. Some guy out west wants to buy it, and have it shipped to him. Couple guys from Virginia also want it to throw in an E30 BMW. So I'm still seeing who's going to buy it, but it needs to be out before I can do that. I already decided against getting another IS. If it wasn't meant to be, it wasn't meant to be. Thinking of moving on to a Soarer or maybe an S chassis, though an RX8 with a blown motor just went up for sale back in WI for 2000obo, and an LSx + T56 went up for about $3k. Interesting thoughts, but I probably won't do that.
  14. Bump. There's interest in the engine/trans, steering wheel, dash and center console. Will sell bare shell with complete drivetrain for $1000. Includes rare LSD worth nearly $500 alone. Would be missing interior and trunk, only. Perfect to swap into another car.
  15. Unfortunately no. Got wrapped up in about 20 different things and wasn't able to pull the engine. Fortunately, the guy buying the engine is patient and doesn't mind waiting another week for it. Going to try and get it out over the course of the week (everything unbolted, hoses disconnected, reservoirs drained) and rent a hoist on saturday (or not rent depending on if anyone wants to borrow me one). Made decent progress for only having a travel kit. Air tools would be amazing.
  16. PM'd. So here's a rundown of EXACTLY what's going on. This is what has been sold (albeit not shipped. I could always give a refund to the other guys, since CR comes before strangers, if you guarantee purchase.) -Hood Rod latch (clip on underside of hood to hold hood prop. Hood is non-usable as is (closes and latches shut, is still aligned, but the driver's side is bent pretty gnarly. Not worth fixing the hood, so it doesn't really matter anyway.) Random person bought it. -Radiator Supports (if you do front end repair, the new radiator support Frame will come with them) Grant bought 'em. -Trac control fascia w/ buttons ($30 on ebay, hasn't been shipped yet. If you can pick up the car before monday, I'll give the other guy a refund.) STILL ABLE TO GET, if you buy the whole car -Passenger side fuse box cover ($30 NEW from lexus. OR I can always give the other guy a refund if you're picking up before monday) STILL ABLE TO GET, if you buy the whole car. When I say I've been pulling the parts, I mean just that, only taking them off the car to make it easier when people are like "hey I want this part" and I can just grab it off a shelf and give it to them. All the parts are there, just would have to be put back together.
  17. Thanks, man, I appreciate it. Fortunately though, VERY little has been sold already. So if you're looking for a car to just put back together, you found it. See above. Everything behind the dashboard has pretty much been removed. Hasn't sold yet, just dismantling to make it easier to ship things out at a moments notice. Airbags have not blown. No CELS. Timing and WP done at 101,xxx. 158,xxx on the car. Yep, it does. And I'm sorry about that, sorry I couldn't help you out :lolguy: If you have the $3k, it's any of yours. A lot is taken apart, but like nothing is sold.
  18. Hey all, as many of you now know, I'm parting out my car. However, being that the car is at a Fraternity house and I don't have my full garage, I'm missing some stuff to pull certain big ticket items. This thread is specifically for finding help pulling parts. Most of it will be easy, since the car is held together with plastic rivets and 10mm bolts, and though a second pair of hands would be nice, I can take care of that. I'm looking for someone that can bring out an engine hoist, so that I can pull the engine and transmission and put it on a pallet, since there's been some interest in people purchasing it. If anyone can help me out either tomorrow night after 1:30pm, or any time on Saturday, it would be greatly appreciated! I can pay via paypal for the help, if you need payment. If it can't be done, I understand! Worst comes to worst, I rent a hoist from the tool rental in Maxtown and do it myself. Thanks, all, Lost
  19. Yeah, I've got about $30 worth of stuff sold so far haha But I agree. I'm lucky.
  20. Thanks! Yeah, it was scary and awful, but at least I'm ok. Oh hey, Bradley. Yeah, it sucks. But, gotta look at the silver linings. -I get to get a new car (probably another IS) -I get to find a MANUAL!! -Maybe someone will buy the shell or engine and turn it / use it in a track car or something.
  21. I was run off the road by a (presumably) drunk driver. Unfortunately, insurance won't cover it, and I can't justify the price to fix it, so here we are, either a parts car for someone, or parting it out. 2001 Lexus IS300 E-Shift Everything is available, just let me know what you want, and you can stop by to pick it up. I'm sure a lot of this will work with other Toyota/Lexus vehicles. Interior: 9.5/10 - Mint, aside from some wear on the driver's B pillar Exterior: 7/10 - aside from the accident, everything is in pretty good condition. Minimal scratches and/or chips. Drivetrain: 9/10 - Well maintained, still starts and run well. Amsoil run, dealership maintained. The car rolls true, so I don't think there's any suspension damage, or if there is, there's not very much. The only real damage is the cosmetic stuff in the front, and a small crumple in a crumple zone, though with a hammer, it wouldn't impede anything. Shell would be great for a drift missile. Throw in motor/tranny of your choosing and your good to go. With the altezza 3sgte, it has a perfect 50/50 ratio fully dressed. With any other engine, gutted without the front, probably still pretty close. Designed by the same guy who made the GT86 and AE86. Notable items: -Rare Black cloth/leather interior in good shape. Heated seats, airbag seats. -2JZ-GE engine.. drop it in a shell and boost it. -M98 LSD rear diff. 3.9 ratio. VERY rare. -Bose sound system (for whatever car you so please) -Auto ECU (good for 1JZ swaps) Parting it out to fund another one. PM me for individual prices, or buy the whole thing for $3000. I know that price is a little high for the car, but it is well worth it. Big thanks to Grant.
  22. Correct. It's a 5spd auto, but I'm parting out the car, so if you want the shell when that's left, the current transmission won't matter, or engine for that matter. The great thing is the chassis has a near 50/50 weight distribution, so if you want that top swap an engine and tranny in to, let me know and once it's stripped, it's all yours. Hella cheap, too.
