Noooooo!!!!! [emoji17] I haven't had a chance to join you guys because I've been spending my weekends in the garage trying to get my car running. Super sad to hear this. Unfortunately there will always be idiots ruining good things.

I didn't know who he was but just watched the SNL episode last night... I really enjoyed the songs he performed!
I was a huge White Stripes fan, and I LOVE The Dead Weather and The Raconteurs, but haven't been able to get into Jack's solo stuff. Was he in all those bands?

I have tried quite a few brands over the years and I've settled on Beverly International. Based on what I've researched, it's a reputable company that cares more about quality than marketing.

Thanks!
I have looked into the Idea Foundry but currently I'm fortunate enough to apprentice one on one with an accomplished smith and he isn't charging me so I haven't really looked into it in depth.
Nice deal [emoji846] I looked at it just to fabricate a few car parts but my skills aren't there and cost isn't worth it based on how much I'd use it

Wow all of this is awesome!
Have you looked at the Idea Foundry? It seems like it would be your playground [emoji846]

Sweet!! I was able to get the bolt off using a socket extractor like the pictured one. It was surprising easy to get off when hammering on the socket.
Thanks for all the help!

Eric all you have to do is ask man. Im sure we could meet up to get it welded if you wanted to try it. Personally, I would start soaking the shit out of it with PB blast, and try tapping a large torx bit into it. I have a set that is 1/2 inch drive that you can pick up at harbor freight for like $20. Push comes to shove it will snap off at the head anyway so then you could drill and tap a new one into place.
The bolt is hollow so tapping is probably my best next option.
If you get it off, I have a spare bolt that you can have for replacement.Damn! Unfortunately I already bought a new bolt and received it [emoji17]
I think you need 2beyonces to remove a stripper from your 2JZ.Sorry I couldn't resist. carry on.
Lol that's a good corny joke [emoji846]

So tried some things last night with a friend's help... Could not get this thing off. I don't know why this bolt is so difficult.
Anyone know of a place to rent a welder?

I’d probably use a twist socket and an impact after I tried a torx bit.
Hmm looks interesting. I was thinking something similar -- a co-worker suggested a splined extractor. Looks like virtually same concept
you can try and tap a larger hex into it and try that. Sadly drilling it out really isn't much of a choice either since its already hollow for oil flow. Best bet is to pull the cam out and get another one with a new VVTi cam gear.Perfect time to upgrade cams too!
Haven't thought of this, this could work. Wouldn't you want reverse threads so it's easier to get the bolt out by tightening it?
I was considering cams anyways lol so you're probably right. I want to try to keep the gear in tact
Start with trying to tap a lager allen wrench into it. I recommend using a torx head instead as the grooves between teeth will allow more of a "bite" if that doesn't work, then its time to bust out the welder. There is an old school trick to take a small bolt that fits into the hole where the allen wrench would go and weld that in. As soon as you finish welding it into place try breaking it loose. the new bolt will allow you to get a regular 6 sided socket on there, and the welding will heat up the bold directly so it should break loose as soon as you do that. Make sure to clean the gear as much as you can and wrap/cover it with tape so the weld spatter doesnt get on any machined surfaces or the teeth of the gear.I wish I could do this, unfortunately I don't have a welder [emoji17]
It sounds like an extractor or tapping another bolt in the hole is my best bet. I appreciate the help! [emoji16]

Has anyone else had the unfortunate experience of screwing up the cam gear bolt like I did?
Engine is a 2JZ-GTE VVTI and this is the intake gear. The allen bolt head was stripped as I was trying to loosen it with a breaker bar. See pictures below :'(
I appreciate and help or advice with how to get this thing out now that the head is ruined.

Clay, how could you hate this? It's like an updated version of the E30 M3 wide body:
new guy: Good luck with your project. The only advice I can give you is make a plan to tackle each project and stick to it. A plan isn't based on time, but work to be completed. This is an ambitious project so good luck. The one thing I can tell you from working on bikes and cars for a hobby is that the more likely they were to run and drive the more motivated I was to work on them.
personally I like RB's vert drift car more than their full blown body kit:
http://topclassiccarsforsale.com/uploads/photoalbum/240sx-rocket-bunny-convertible-s13-drift-car-2.JPG
I love that E30 kit. I saw a E30 with a 2JZ swap I considered buying back when I was looking.
That guy with the vert was/is selling his car. I thought about buying it but he was asking more than I was willing to pay.
I guess it's more the wheels...I get stance/hellafrush when you're dealing with factory fenders but WHY DOES EVERYTHING HAVE TO BE SO POKEY-CAMBER'Y????That last pic of the Nissan looks great - because when you widebody the car you can still go wide with the tires without rubbing all the fucking time.
The 240 RB kit comes with a couple of wheel/tire size recommendations. After getting the fenders installed, I'll do some measuring to pick the right setup - it's not going to be hella negative camber like the VW guys like to do. It looks great on the right setup, but it's not my style.
Ah, I love me some 240 builds. I had an S14 with an SR20 blacktop swap (I didn't do) and an S13 with an SR20 redtop swap that I did do. Loved them both, fun cars. Funny, I bought my S13 in NJ because I couldn't find any non ragged out pieces of shit here locally. Good find man!WHO-DEY! Thanks! One reason I went with the 240 is part availability... it's insane the choices for these cars.
First car project and you're going for full engine swap and widebody? Agreesive. I wish you the best. Lord know I'm not taking on something like that.Might as well make it what I want it There are plenty of write ups and resources for the things I want to do. They don't cover every detail (I'm finding) but it gives me a chance to really learn about the car and the setup!

Thanks!
Yeah, no kidding!! I was a little naïve in the beginning thinking I could get everything accomplished quicker... I've since gained a more realistic understanding of the man hours needed lol.
As much as I want it finished, it is a fun learning process

Next up on the list is to get the RB kit and get the car painted. I'm considering a grey matte color with copper wheels.

Hey everyone, thought it was about time to start a build page!
So I have a 1993 240sx Convertible I bought late last year. I found this baby on Craigslist and drove all the way to Long Island to pick it up. Believe it or not, it has virtually no rust! The only rust I've found has been some surface rust.
Here's what it looked like when I picked it up:

http://i870.photobucket.com/albums/ab263/epcioffi/IMG_2656.jpg

http://i870.photobucket.com/albums/ab263/epcioffi/IMG_1027.jpg
http://i870.photobucket.com/albums/ab263/epcioffi/IMG_2643.jpg
This is my first project and I'm already learning a lot. It's certainly a lot more involved than I had anticipated.
Here's what I plan on doing:
2JZ motor converted to single turbo
CD009 (350z transmission)
Rocket bunny body kit
Suspension: considering air ride or coilovers
5 lug conversion with wide wheels
I've found the RB kit is either love or hate, incase you don't know, this is what the RB kit looks like:

http://i870.photobucket.com/albums/ab263/epcioffi/rocket%20bunny%201.jpeg
Of course there are some other things that will need purchased... like I'm sure some misc suspension components (i.e. tie rods, sway bar, etc). I'm also likely to purchase bigger brakes which may include new brake lines.

I'm not a head hunter and this may seem simple or stupid but there are 5 Honda plants and a R&D facility as well as many tier suppliers to Honda nearby. It sounds like he could name his own position at one of these places.
I do know Adecco does a lot of hiring for Honda. Most of it is temp work but they also do perm to hire jobs.

I'm going for the Acclimation Program and afternoon track time (figure it's probably the best idea for having never been on a road course track). I know when I talked to them a month ago they said open slots were almost full.

Yeah I would love to do that! I wonder if there are other times throughout the year you can do an Acclimation program.
I won the autoX in 2015 but couldn't go in 16. Jason/Sarah and their team put on great events all year long. Ill be at their mid ohio track day may 1st.Nice!
I'll planning on going but really just to hang out and watch the events. I don't know if I'll have my car drivable by that point.

I was cruising the Mid Ohio site and came across this: http://www.carfestusa.com/
Has any one been to this previously or plan on going this year? It looks pretty fun, plus you have the opportunity to take your car or on the track!

What about the mall by the casino? May not be the best location but it's certainly empty!
