  1. I've had a few replies typed out then started over. Just some thoughts:

    1. It looks like a few guys on the forum know you and your actual financial situation much better than the rest of us. Their advice is probably better for you than our's.

    2. It also looks like your stated $15-18k budget is a little too high and will stretch you too thin. I'd recommend going lower and then if something does need repaired (car, home, otherwise), it won't crush you. Especially if your credit score is low, the less you finance, the better.

    3. No matter what you get, it will be a compromise in your mind from what you really want anyway, a 2015+ Mustang GT manual. It seems like you can either get a newer economy car or an older sports/sporty car.

All that in mind, if it were me, I'd get something similar to what I really wanted, a RWD V8 (Mustang in your case). I've had a couple daily drivers that I absolutely hated getting into everyday, traffic here sucks bad enough without getting into something you hate everyday. And for a daily driver, I'd even sacrifice the manual for an auto, if the right deal came along.

That said, doing some quick searches on Craigslist, I'd look in the $13k and lower range and save yourself some money. In the price range, I saw quite a few low mile 2005+ Mustang GTs, C5's (one with only 22k miles in Detroit), and 1998-2002 Camaros and Trans Ams that could make great daily's without breaking the bank and if ever needed, parts are cheap for them. But most are auto trannies.

  2. So this passed. No more front plate law, right?

This is the latest I've seen. Passed the House but is going to the Ohio Senate Committee...

"The Ohio Senate Transportation, Commerce, and Workforce Committee is beginning consideration of a 10.7-cent increase in the state's gasoline tax Monday afternoon.

Ohio House members passed the increase last week, along with a 20-cent tax increase in diesel.

However, Ohio Department of Transportation Director Jack Marchbanks is trying to convince lawmakers to pass an 18-cent tax increase."

  3. PLEASE let us do away with the front plates this time around...

"Ohio drivers may no longer be required to have a front license plate on their vehicles if an amendment added to the state transportation budget gets approved."

"The bill must be adopted by March 31 to take effect July 1 when the state fiscal year begins."

  4. Very nice. Love the 7L Z28s. Should be a fun toy for sure. Welcome to our shithole.

    Thank you! :)

Beautiful 69. Was that picture taken before or after Jeds?

Oh, what you know about Jed's in P-burg??? It was there at the time.

It's kinda funny because the RX-8 actually is smaller on the inside then you would think. Ashley and I sometimes fight over the center rest because I have to shift, but her arm is in the way. What I do know is that I want something with more power/torque then what I already have. The 8 is very agile and MX-5 like handling, but I have no problem with trading that for a better engine. V8 or bust seems to be what people are saying about the Mustang... but why? is the V6 really that bad? or will I just get shit from other Mustang fans for "cheeping out"?

As far as roomy goes, you'll have to sit in and drive any cars for yourself to really decide. I'm 6'4" 275 lbs, so what is tight for me or roomy and comfy to me might not be for you. I can tell you that for me a Charger/Challenger are very comfortable and roomy. A mustang less so and a Camaro (especially 6th gen), even less than the Stang. But I also daily drove 3rd gen and 4th gen f-bodies in relative comfort, as well as an S197 Mustang. In my 2015 Z/28, my head on ON the ceiling unless I recline the seat back a bit, it's tight height-wise.

This paragraph is STRICTLY MY OWN OPINION, please treat it as such. I would never buy a pony car with a V6, it's just not the driving experience that I personally want in a car like that. I love V8's, I love the sound of many V8's, I love the feel/experience of many V8's, and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the sound and feel of a cammed V8 that shakes the car at idle. That's just the type of experience that I personally want in a car like that. That's part of what excites ME and gives those type of cars their uniqueness and soul that resonates with me and my soul. That said, more pony cars are sold with V6's or even turbo 4's nowadays than V8's, so other people like them. It's all personal preference and personal finances and 100% up to you to decide. You have to find the car that speaks to you and checks off your personal list of priorities, while maintaining your budget. I wouldn't make fun of any V6 pony car owner, but that's just not what I want in my car. And it's not that the V6's are bad, they just don't resonate with me. They may with other drivers. Just FYI, it took me most of last year to research, look around, and finally decide on the car that I thought was right for me, the Z/28. It was not an easy decision.

You are close to me, being in Westerville. You are welcome to come for a ride in either of my cars any time, just PM me.

  6. Only thing on that list I wouldn't hate myself driving daily is a Mustang. They're roomier than a Camaro and more comfy.

No doubt about that regarding comfort, although I would daily any of them if need be. If I'm honest, my old LS1 Trans Am was a better car/daily driver than my S197 Mustang, but I had the 4.6L V8 in the Mustang, not the 5.0L. He has an RX-8 right now though. If he wants comfy and roomy, that's a different list of cars in my mind. Even if staying in the V8 world, more comfy and roomy to me would be Challenger, Charger, older Caddy, etc.

  7. I'm 40 and just ran my first autocross at the end of last season. It's fun and definitely humbling as experienced folks in $500 miatas completely destroy your times in your new bazillion-dollar track machine. It feels good knowing I'm the one bottlenecking my times and not the car though, so it's not like I need to go spend money to get better. I'm going to hit up a bunch of events this year with our small group and I'll hit you up in advance if you'd like to join.

SCCA test & tune kick-off event is March 30 at National Trail. I got some work to do on the hairdresser car in the next 3 weeks...

That'd be great guys, thanks! I'll be loaded up with kids' events here in the spring, but summer should open up for me, they don't really play any summer sports.

  8. Completely fucked parking for me, had to park in our reserved customer lot and tell 2 different people to fuck off you cant park here. Air downtown was thick with the smell of body oil testosterone and gay sex. I hate the arnold.

  9. I’m in on some sneaker action. I got nothing to lose. If you win, you beat a guy in his 40s in a foot race. If you lose, ......... I mean how damn slow are you?

Are the sneaker races 1/4 mile too? If so, I'm out. I might make a 40 yard dash or a 100 meter.

  10. THAT is how you do an intro post! Good to see another V8 'Merican here on CR, welcome aboard! Where do you plan on exercising that Z28? Mid Ohio? Ledges? 42/Trails? AutoX?

Thank you. I have no idea where to start yet. If you've ever seen the movie KungFu Panda, I'm at Level 0 when it comes to any racing except drag racing. I'd like to find a good instructor.

  11. I'm sitting here watching the Strongman competition on Rogue's YouTube channel live. Anyone going this year? I went once back in the late 90's and it was pretty cool. Met Lou Ferrigno and saw Arnold. It's grown so much, I wouldn't be able to stand how crowded it is now, it was packed even back then.

The wheel of pain from Conan looks cool.

I love weightlifting and watching the strongman stuff. Hafthor is an absolute BEAST. It would be pretty cool to see him in person. Anyway, anyone here going or ever been? Anyone here into weightlifting or fitness sports?

  12. Let's see, fun car: 15 years ago I had sold my red Camaro IROC to mod my 98 Trans Am LS1/M6. I guess today I own a car that combines the IROC and T/A in a lot of ways, as it's a red Camaro with an LS motor and M6.

My DD 15 years ago went from a black 98 Trans Am LS1/A4 to a black Charger SuperBee today. I kind of see and feel that the Charger is just a bigger, heavier, 4 door "pony" car anyway.
