My dad's shop had an attempted break-in this morning. The man that opens the shop at 8:00 a.m. was eating breakfast in the back office at 7:45 when he heard a crash from the front, followed by one other crash. His first thought was a car had rammed the front of the building. Then, he feared that it was indeed a burglary. He looked out front to find a fucking deer. A buck had ran full speed into the front door, busting the safety glass. He then rammed it a second time. Starter isn't engaging the teeth completely, there are teeth missing, or the starter needs shimmed. You should be able to bump the starter many times and look under the car each time to inspect the teeth. Testing the starter and shimming requires starter removal.

I feel for you, man. I went through 6 rear ends over the years. 6 Ford 9" rear ends in a <500 crank hp S10. No one (and this includes big name shops) could explain it.
