  1. That's pretty much what I gathered after digging a little deeper. On one hand I commend the AMA and Mid Ohio for bringing the Shootout here. on the other hand, this is Ohio in October. Not quite as bad as watching the Tribe in the 95 & 97 World Series in Cleveland but.....
  2. Doug Chandler to be one of the inductees. Great guy. Pops
  3. Yes it was. I got up there around 8:30 Sunday morning to a somewhat wiped out campground from the previous night's storm. Found my buddies from Y-town and Cinci. Their tents survived, but the EZ-Up was destroyed along with some other various assorted sundries. Called Djoo, sorry I didn't get back with you like I said. Met up with CBRgirl, RR, 10sinner (or whatever his name is this week), Putty, Gixerchick, and the rest of you. Sunday's weather was great! The racing was, well you saw how it went, it was something I never expected at an AMA Pro Event. I say no more. OK, I lied! The spectator turnout sucked! There was no reason for Mid Ohio not to be jamb packed on Sunday. The vendors pussed out also. Maybe they're weren't enough advance ticket sales, I don't know. I hear a lot of bitching about the way AMA handles racing, I do my share also, but I go. This what we have and if we want to keep at least this, we have to go. Speed TV sure doesn't help by putting the races on starting at noon on Tuesdays, ending at four, maybe if we're lucky, six. I'll just quit my day job that pays the dish bill! Ooooh, then we get treated to Superbikes, what a bunch of idiots that show is about! Just my opinion. Sunday saw more track dryers, sweepers, and cars on the track bending over backwards to make it safe. That track was dryer than I've seen a dragstrip after a rain storm at a national event, and they still weren't satisfied. Maybe they ought to move their money making asses over and let the racers from last weekend, that busted their asses, literally for some forty seven plus racers, take over and put on a competetive show. It was great until the skies opened up. I know, I was there standing in the rain supporting them until the night was over. Whew! Glad I got that off my chest, I didn't even know it was in there. Guess I needed to vent. Pops
  4. It's about 7:00AM, I'm getting ready to walk out the door and hit Mid Ohio. Anyone that wants to hook up, I'm at 614-893-4723. Races start at 8:30. Pops
  5. Heading north on 270, by the 161 construction area. The left side of the right lane hides a bike killer. It's about the size of a white stripe in the crossover area. Looks about 8-10" wide and the same in depth. I saw it in my truck and all I could think of was "If a bike hits that, they're done!" Stay left. Pops
  6. Thanks for the advice, it's now in the log book. Pops
  7. It was just announced three hours ago, there will be no racing in the rain at Mid Ohio this weekend! 47 crashes last weekend and mladdin crying. Actually being there and seeing as many as I did, it's a good call. Pops http://www.cyclenews.com/
  8. Just going to work on the rear rebound. One thing at a time. His tires look like the ones you showed me from TN, too much hop. We don't have rains so if the weather gets wet we're going to tip toe on the Michelins and hope for the best of weather for the eighth. Two sets of Pilot Race that he's comfortable with in the house. Since he's the newest of the new he's gridded last in all three races, my money says he doesn't finish there! Pops
  9. Why does that surprise you? It's a Yamaha! You've been chasing Clutch on his R6, now you better hope doesn't win the lottery, you'll never catch him. Pops
  10. Pretty sure ther's a comment on Zuke riders there but after watching Djoo in the rain last Saturday I'll leave that one alone. Not a mladdin fan. Djoo's right, the track was safe, the rain was hard. Those who rode made their own decision. Mid Ohio is the premier race track in the country! I hope you all feel as fortunate as I do that it's in our back yard. Pops
  11. Talked to Clutch last night, we're out. After looking at djoo's tires we have some changes to make on his bike for Wednesday and next Sunday. Thanx for the tips djoo, btw how are you feeling? Pops
  12. Do Costa Rica. I did a two week cross country dualsport trip there for my 50th this past May. No hassles, no touristas, just fun! Pops
  13. You guys spend way too much time looking at weather shit! Get your ass outside, look up! If it it ain't raining, thundering, or green clouds, lose your tampon and ride! Pops has spoken!
  14. Wish you were in CO. They should have killed that prick! I'll be there Saturday, Clutch is staying in town to get his bike ready for Wednesday. Anyone not going on Sunday are welcome to the PPP for the televised version. Pops
  15. Buddy, after Clutch and I get back from Mid Ohio Saturday, :colorzYellow: , then after his license finale at Nelson Ledges Wednesday. We still have him registered for three races at Nelson on the 8th. If my stories cant help bust the 200 mark, as I'm going to do at Bonneville, I'll buy you a beer. Pops
  16. Listen to the voice of experience. Don't wait for what's going to come out! Get it Now and Get it On! Pops
  17. Looks like the paint on R6Chicks bike. Can she really be that far ahead? Pops
  18. Just watched it again for the third time. Talked to Clutch a few minutes ago and he still thinks I'm barking up the wrong tree. Just more fuel for my fire. I'm going to see 200 on that bike!!! Pops
  19. Dude I'm even surprised I was able to find you in that crowd. Thanks for bringing the T-Bones. You Rock!!! Heading to Mid Ohio for Saturday with Clutch, races on the big screen here Sunday. Pops
  20. Im thinking a trip to the Bonneville Salt Flats for Speed Week. I was checking their dates and registrations last night. I don't care how long it takes to get to 200, I just want it to be at a recorded event. Seems to me I've heard of another speed week somewhere east of the Mississippi, but I'm drawing a blank. Pops
  21. Couldn't find it locally, got it through BlockBuster online. Anthony Hopkins had me slapping my knee and cheering him on at the same time. I've only bought one other movie, seeing a movie once is enough for me, this will be number two. His shack makes mine look like a palace, so if anyone that's not going to Mid Ohio, Sunday, wants to come over to watch it on tv, you're welcome at the PPP. We'll cookout here. The races are televised starting at 4. After seeing this movie I'm on a mission again. After having my 88 ZX10, I knew I had to see the 200 mark, it's personal. It can't be on a new bike, it'll be on a late 80's normally aspirated, no NOS ZX10. The bike hunt is on! We'll stretch it, bore it, stroke it, whatever it takes. Pops is going to see 200 on record, not sitting in jail looking at a ticket, or seeing it on the speedo. I want it on record that ProudPops did 200mph on a bike built built by Clutch! Pops
  22. Yep, I was there and saw the whole thing unfold before my eyes. I saw djoo slide into China Beach with his bike in front of him, he's being modest at 120. As he got up and went to his bike I heard another slide and metal to pavement sound, looked and saw a bike on it's side, throwing sparks like a grinding wheel, heading for the same spot. My focus was on the rider and not the bike as it hit djoo, and a third joined in the meleigh. All I saw were three bikes down and only two riders up. Djoo was not moving. Before he was surrounded by emergency vehicles and the ambulance I saw him sit up and pound his fist into the ground, at least I knew he was OK. Jumped in my truck and went to his pit area until he got delivered there and his Dad took him to the hospital, leaving whoever was there to take care of whatever. I wish I had my OSU hat on because djoo's frind, Mike, was the first to start tearing into his bike and allowing me to help. Mike's from Michigan and had his M ballcap on. It would have made a good picture, a Buckeye and Wolverine working together to get Djoo's bike race ready. I watched this man dominate the Novice class and threaten the Experts. In my mind he's #1. Once the rain hit, Mid Ohio looked like a motorcycle junkyard. The only survivors were those who tip toed around the track. Djoo went for it, and as they say, "That's Racing." I'm glad you're here to tell your side of the story. Pops
  23. All I'm going to say is "Owndjoo is Fast!" The rest of the details after yesterday are his to tell, I'm just glad I was there. Hope to see you all for my last Kickstand Cookout today. Pops
  24. I Just checked the radar for the Mansfield area and it looks a lot better there than it does here. I'm going to pack some grub and rain gear, and head to the races, in my truck. I think you can only buy a weekend pass so if anyone wants mine for tomorrow let me know. If anyone else is heading up today give a call, 614-893-4723. Pops
