  1. 12hrs straight....Shit!

It helps not ruin my whole weekend for riding :D

I only teach from time to time, but usually its friends of friends that want a 1 day class to fit in their schedule and get it over and done with. Earlier this summer was the exact opposite, I did one over a period of 2 weeks to fit into my mechanic's schedule.

I do feel bad though. I mean, who wants to listen to me yack for 12 hours? I know I wouldn't.

  2. I think its original intent was to use for the ID itself because at the time the logistics of the permit were left to the sheriffs and they weren't sure how they were going to handle the picture. However, everyone I've talked to says it was all done via digital camera hooked up to the ID system.

    4. oh yeah,, forgot that you have to have passport size photos to take with you for your application aobut $5 at walmart.

Has anyone actually had their sheriff's office use the passport photos? I have yet to see an instance of them actually using it. Kinda surprised that didn't get taken out when they updated the law in March.

  4. I don't normally teach any "advanced/tactical" stuff outside whats already in the NRA personal protection curriculum. That may change soon if/when I get my OPOTA Firearms Instructor Cert.

For the advanced stuff, places like Thunder Ranch, Gunsite etc... are always a great option. Locally there is a place called TDI that has a great reputation. I've trained with one of their adjunct instructors that was a former navy devgroup guy and he was absolutely awesome.

Ken Hackathorn is local to Ohio and is absolutely top notch. I'm signed up for his 3 day low-light course with larry vickers this fall.

  5. I'm teaching a ccw class this coming Saturday in Copley. Class is the NRA Basic Pistol and qualifies you for your Ohio CCW. Cost is $100. Class will start at 8:30am and run for 12 hours. If anyone is interested, send me a pm.

  6. I'll pm you my number. give me a call next week. I'm up for evening riding and we work within a few miles of each other.

Beware, if you go to QSL to meet with thomez, you will likely highside and end up in the hospital instead. Ask me how I know this.

  7. Looks like a good build but I suggest buying a new HD for the OS and installing it right instead of just letting windows update your current HD OS.. I've built servers and firewalls from the ground up and my background is Systems/Network Administration / Security. Speaking of security, get rid of VNC... that little prog is a exploitable playground... I would love to start playing with your lights at 4am some night while you slept.. :)

Or at the very least, tunnel the VNC client over SSH. And do it on a port other than 5900.

  8. And now I'm not back. Turns out my bank decided to put a hold on the check from my insurance company. I guess they do this all the time with insurance checks, but somehow forgot to do that earlier this year when I cashed a multi-thousand dollar insurance check from my car insurance co. Fuckers. So I'll remain bikeless until the 15th. That will bring me up to 9 weeks without being able to ride.

  9. $900 for a muffler is not unheard of. My mufflers cost $900 each. I took that money and got a full Muzzy M10 system, with Power Commander and TRE. Why both with putting the stock back on?!!?!?

Good luck with the new ride. I know a dealer near me selling an 07 Busa..brand new..for $9200. $3000 more buys you 1300CC's!

I'm not down with the busa. For that kind of money, I'd be looking at a used Duc 749 Dark or an RSVR.

  10. State Farm valued the bike at $6057.73 (including tax and title). The repair estimate was 6400. I do have to say, the repair quote was kinda BS. I mean, $879 to replace the stock muffler? come on!

I'll be picking up an 04 R6, in blue this time. The recovery is going well. I really haven't had any knee pain in a few weeks and my shoulder is getting stronger, just not as strong as I would like right now. I'll definately up for QSL next week and some riding on Sunday. I have 8 weeks to make up for.

  11. Picking up a new bike next weekend in Columbus. Who is up for some riding on the 9th? I'm thinking about hitting the poker run that the bike club at work is sponsering.

  12. Talk like that will get you nowhere, fast, around here.

I kid I kid. I like Kimbers just fine, although all my 1911's have been Springfields. I'm actually thinking of getting the kimber eclipse one of these days. I like the black hard chrome finish they have.

Any of you folks shoot the action pistol stuff at Briar Rabbit or the ipsc/uspsa down in Circleville? I used to hit BR quite frequently when I lived in Columbus. I did the Bianchi Cup stuff at Circleville on and off with my pistol coach in the summers.

  13. Oh just borrow your old man's bike and come a long. :slap:

We'll wait up for you....promise.

gee thanks. I'm tempted, but if I so much as put a minor scratch on the chrome I will never hear the end of it. Besides, I'm not cool enough to ride a hardley.
