  1. It does mean something. I was just saying that the BSI standard goes a bit further. They test a few things that SNEL doesn't - like an oblique impact. An oblique impact is similar to a majority of crashes. SNELL does the ol' center impact on the top of the helmet. Ever landed straight up and down on your head? Most the time, it is off center and more frontal or backside if whipped from snapping your head back...

i actually have landed on the top of my head before.....

but i understand what you are saying now. it would make more sense to test the oblique impacts more than just the top of the helmet.

  2. I wish I had friends like you!!! I dont think my friends would piss on my teeth if my gums were on fire.

i would piss on your teeth, only because i would be laughing so hard that your mouth was on fire though...... and i wouldnt want to piss my pants of course.

  3. SNELL certification isn't always the best form of testing. I mean, an $80 Fulmer has the same SNELL rating as a $700 Arai... There needs to be better testing and different levels of certification. BSI and ECE testing involves batch testing whereas SNELL is a blanket test and the helmet companies buy the SNELL sticker. Not jabbing at SNELL as a SNELL helmet is better than a non SNELL lid most times, but SNELL isn't the only form of testing out there and they certainly aren't the best...

wow, now i feel like a retard....

i actually thought the snell rating meant something:moo:

alrighty then. thanks for the eye opener.

  4. if they are not snell certified i wouldnt even think about it. sure they perform well enough in a crash, but snell takes into cosideration the visibility of the driver/rider and there crash test ratings are far more superior to those of the dot guys. let me put it this way, if the racers need to develop their own helmet certification group because the dot standards are not up to snuff why would you buy a standard dot helmet? if its not safe enough for the track its not safe enough for the road.

believe it or not a decent amount of helmets are snell certified. hjc would probably be the most inexpensive brand of snell certified helmets out there for just a heads up.

and imo those helmets are not that good looking....... just my two cents though, to each his own.

  5. welcome to the site.

i am from franklin (in between cincy and dayton)

and we are getting more and more people from this area but most of the population here is from the c-bus. sad to say.

oh and sorry about the thread robing members we got around here.......

jerm, nick, chris... not to mention any names or anything, i dont want to get myself into any trouble.

  6. I moved to the dayton area not to long ago from Cbus. Brought my bike down for a week and said F@#$ it. I got bored really fast and I didn't have time to go looking for some twisties or my own track like I had around Cbus. So I took my bike back to my rents. Anyways I was driving around for work today and found some sweet roads right by my office.

Just south of Dayton mall between Springboro and Franklin

    Sharts Rd. (yeah sharts rd)

    West Lower Springboro rd

    Cranes Run Rd.

    Shepards Rd.

Thing is the speed limits are 25 and 35 and Cops are like roaches around here.

Sharts, pretty decent. i live not all too far from there and i know the road name is amazing. i would qualify it as one of those roads i take to make my ride home about 5 minutes longer instead of taking the highway. just for a side note i do alot of hunting off of that road, and yeah there are alot of deer.

and cranes run is a road that i take as a fun warm up before i head into germantown and have real fun.

but for the best 2-3 hour ride nick will show you for sure. look up camp kern, or where ohio sr 305 meets I-71 on any gps map and that will give you a good idea of how the day is going to go.:guitar::metal:

oh and there is a QSL not to far from miamisburg, it is right next to Wright State off of 675. they have bike night every thurs. just a heads up

  7. We are switching to iPhones Jan 27th, I may walk out with the New Macbook Air, New Time Capsule, Apple TV Take 2. :)

i love my iPhone. i have owned it for about 3 months now and i cant be any happier with a phone, the only setbacks in my opinion are the lack of MMS (aka picture and video messaging) and video recording. if you have grown fond of those two features i dont know what to tell you other than they are supposed to send us an update for the MMS soon. but no word on the video recording  it happens though, you cant have it all.

And apple is doing all the right stuff nowadays, if the pc guys dont step it up apple is going to mow them over. i was even more impressed with apple customer service, just for future ref.

  8. one heck of a beautiful place, but its not going to work

there was a kart racing track in the area that tried to run on membership only as well, it closed down about 3 months into the "experiment". here is what is going to happen, the owner is going to loose a crapload of money sell and someone, being in love with racing, is going to buy the place up and turn it into something amazing.

  9. so you hunt with a mathews huh?

i just picked up a switchback xt this season and have had no luck hunting since.

i am not blaming it on the bow i just havent had anything to shoot at since i bought it... its killin me!!!!!

but yeah i know how you feel w/ transporting those things, when me and my buddy go hunting we take a giant lawn and garden cart for the trip. and it is painted for the occasion as well, we got bored one day and change the bright yellow paint scheme to redneck camo!!!
