  2. I dont know how my truck survived a 4wd 40psi launch like that. Thank god for tie rod sleeves! However a better prepped track would have sustained for some good launches. I put the stock tune back in and just leaving at idle, Its funny looking at the data and seeing the rwd abs speed vs the front abs speed - didnt match up until 43mph which is probably 400+' out.

Anybody have any vid/pics? Talking about the white crew cab duramax.....

  3. With a 1 and a 5 year old, I suggest looking for something with a cutty cabin to keep the smaller ones out of the sun, they will dehydrate very quickly and some pontoons dont offer much in the shade department. As a father of a 15 month old, I had her on the boat all summer, and she slept in her carrier with a fan on.

Alum creek is def. where you want to go if you want to get in the water. They offer a beach, several docks to launch, and many "no wake" coves for swimming, etc.

  4. Also, on a full tank there is about a maximum weight capacity of three people. They had to burn off fuel before me and the GF went for a flight. Buzzed around the 'shoe and Quaker steak on bike night. I might be able to find/post some pics.

It's more fun in the spring, when crime happens. Chasing cars/bikes etc.

One instance - there was a home invasion on the west side, and a neighbor went to go fight a suspect. We were over head as they were wrestling in the back yard, and couldn't hear the officers approach and stun the shit out of them. Funny to watch a guy spasm and collapse

  5. They have a 365hp turbine that powers the "thrust" - propelling them forward. They also have the rotor which is used for lift. It doesn't have enough power to keep them lifted in a hover - they will slowly drop. The thrust is needed to provide the downforce for the lift. It's not like they drop like a sack of potatoes.... Maybe like a foot a second in hover mode.

    I'm sure there's more physics/engineering involved.

  6. I have 3 good friends that are CPD pilots, and believe it or not, you can do a civilian ride along in the chopper.

CPD has 6 choppers. Only 1 has the FLIR - its 6 figures for the camera. They fly from noon until 4 AM, and there is always a chopper in the air. The helipad is almost in the hilltop, off west broad st. They fly with a pilot and a radio man, in 2 hour shifts. 2 hours up, two hours down/rest. They dont just buzz neighborhoods, most of the time they are first on scene. If your woman is laying out getting her tan on, she may get a flyby.....

They can reach 160mph with a tailwind. They have a great relationship with the airport, and can call the tower and delay flights if they are after someone on the area and deemed important. They dont have enough power to hover - they have to keep moving.

  7. im leaving for alum now. Im going fishing tho. I think ive got mine dialed in, I have a white/teal/silver chaparral 2150sx, with tinted windows.

Did H/C/I with vortec heads, edlebrock intake/carb. Hits plane fast with great low end torque. being a deep V its never gonna be a rocketship, but i hit 63 last week at Buckeye.

I have a buddy headed out with a 33' active thunder, it shoult hit 100mph

  9. I deal all over Ohio, and I see flat rates from $25 to $170/hr.

It is slow in the auto service industry. A few behind the scenes notes.....

Autozone had their worst fiscal year, ever, last year. revenue was up, but they overspent on operating expenses. Their fiscal year ended sept 29.

Advance auto parts had a 3Q earning of -0.8% comp. Advance Auto parts is up for sale, for approx $7B right now, as they are looking to go private. (IPO) New store openings caused 3rd Q to be down, but this qtr is up 17%

Oreillys posted a 7% comp. vs last year, but they represent about 16% of the market, and are growing rapidly.

Carquest is about to close its doors.

Its not just you, or where you are, its all over. Autoservice has trended down since april, mostly due to a large number of new car sales. New car sales has peaked for the first time since 2000.
