sounds like a good excuse to deduct from your rent payment

We do live together but split everything, with the exception of groceries, 50/50.. with the groceries turning it to 55/45 at times (me being the 55). So since we split everything then there was no need to have joint pooled accounts. Not to mention that I am not always going to agree with what she spends her money on and vice-versa. I dont mind paying a little more but it is hard for me to be OK with paying an extra hundered dollars on a bill and then she turns around spends an extra hundred on clothes and shoes..

Well I never looked at it like I was "incentivizing" anything.. I am not going around telling her that if she is willing to marry me then I will give her access to my money. If she thinks that is her only incentive to get married then I guess we DO have some issues. Never have I felt like I was holding money over her head.. maybe she would disagree but it has never come up. She knows that if there is anything that she wants then all she has to do is tell me.. but I dont think she has the right to tell me what I can can and cannot spend my money on since I earn it.

different from who? you? again, I am not saying it is right or wrong but it is simply an opinion.. just like your opinion is that you would not handle it that way. I can respect that

lol Gump.. my next thread would be me asking for a place to live haha JRRMii.. that is just the way I feel about the girlfriend/wife thing.. if you are my girlfriend I dont think you have the right to my money or even the right to tell me what I do with it, everything is 50/50. As my wife, I think it is something that is shared. Is that right or wrong, I dont know. That is just how I feel now but that could change. I dont think that means that I am not committed to her or that I do not treat her as well as I would if she were my wife but as my girlfriend I dont think she has that right.

haha Schmuk, it isnt that significant.. that and I just know how she is about bills and stuff.. doesnt like 50/50 split when I am making twice what she makes. AND we arent married, but have been together for a long time. I understand what you are saying, I think I am going to tell her. I dont like feeling like I am keeping secrets I just was not sure if it was a big deal or not to disclose that kind of stuff

have been considering the same Aaron, but I currently have Cable for FREE, but I do need my own internet. Who would you guys recommend for internet?? Not TW b/c I dont want them coming and finding out I already have cable there for free lol

moose... I see what your saying.. I am not saying we have a bad relationship or anything of the sort. What I AM saying is that one of the things we have had arguements about in the past is how much money I make and what I do with it. I am saying that we shouldnt go jumping into something (house/marriage) just b/c of our CURRENT situation. That does not mean that we are not happy together or "should really look at the relationship". Maybe I am out of line, I dunno. That is why I asked I guess.

OK, so I started the thread a few days ago about my job and getting a raise. I have since had a few issues arise about the whole situation. So upon getting my contract extension I also recieved a substantial raise. My issue is that I have not told my girlfriend that I recieved this raise. My reasoning behind it is that I do not want her to think we can get too comfortable a live above our means. I have a feeling she would try to push us towards buying a house and marriage and I dont want to rush it just b/c we are little more financially secure, if there is such a thing in this economy. Anyway, is it wrong of me to not tell my girlfriend of 5 years that I am making more money, mostly b/c I am afraid she will hold it against me?

haha I wish man, I am nobody there.. but I do know they are doing a lil bit of hiring for web developers in March I think. dunno what you do though. oh and I wasnt kidding about the buying of drinks, cant buy everyone one but I will see what I can do with Casp about buying like the first 20 beers at the Christmas party.. just make sure your there early

Just kidding.. just wanted to celebrate for a minute. Was informed today that my company extended my contract another year AND gave me a $10k raise As some of you know I have been in a weird situation with work over the past year and a half while interning in Columbus. Was offered a contractor role for another year and a nice raise. One step closer to getting a full-time job here. Drinks on me Thanks to everybody that was wishing me luck with the job stuff

Ya know guys, its OK to choose a place over HNW. Dont get me wrong, I almost always got excellent service at HNW, but if someone has a better experience somewhere else then you dont have to make excuses for the people at HNW. If they were acting "bothered" by the customer then that isnt too cool and they lost a customer b/c of it.

this is good information.. have a good friend who was just moved the motorsports division from their car sales division. have been seeing the effects of the economic slowdown like the rest of us, guess they have had to let a few guys go lately. Look him up(Jack Mosley) when you go there and tell him that "Tony Tito" sent ya.. am sure he will get a good laugh about it and will probably get ya a good deal

doubt I will be going this time.. I had a lot of fun last time but spent a LOT of money! Might just come for Sat and Sunday or just Sunday and drive in for just the final day of races. Not sure yet though. Will have to see what my job situation looks like come January.
